Clicked on a spam email, later got a mysterious phone call

Hello, I’m probably just paranoid but I need to be sure.

I’ve been getting flooded with spam emails for years. I usually ignore and delete them, but i sometimes check the spam section of my email to see if I missed anything .

Anyway, I got an email about mcdonalds. The mail has some chat logs that don’t belong to me at all. At the end of the email, it had a pdf attached to it. I did not
click on anything inside the email and deleted it right after. All good.

a few hours after that I get a random phone call. I’ve been applying for jobs and the phone number has my local area code, so I pick up.

The person on the other end acts confused, starts speaking in english, asks why i called him. I tell him that they called me, and he keeps asking confused. I hang up after a minute because it’s obviously either a scam
or a wrong number.

Am I at risk of anything? I’m a bit concerned, since my number hasnt appeared in any data leaks. I’m also concerned about being a target for sim swapping now. The phone bill is under my mothers name, so there’s not much I can do to prevent it. I already use google authenticator, but still.

What do I do? Am I safe?

LF for code for a friend

Hi guys, basically the title.

My friend has been getting back into making OCs, and is even planning to make an entire story line. I want to surprise them with a toyhouse code, but don’t have any myself. If anyone has a spare code, please let me know.

Hi, basically i downloaded some shady stuff in the past. Reinstalled windows via usb, did basic shit like change master password, readd 2fa, kick out devices, added authenticator, but i’m still a bit scared of using the bitwarden account. is there anything else i should worry about?

Downloaded potential malware on my iphone ages ago - what WERE the risks?

Hi guys, I know an iphone is way more secure than a laptop, but I once got tricked into downloading an antivirus after clicking a link that told me I had a virus. This was very very long ago, and I deleted the app long ago as well. But is there any way it couldve been actual malware?

I didn’t give them any information or permission.

What are the chances of getting an unremovable virus?

Hey y’all! I’m new to this stuff. I’m gonna reinstall windows with no back up files outside of maybe some images. (With reinstall I mean clean install from a formatted usb.)

However, I sometimes see people here talk about still having a virus after reinstalling windows. How is that possible? I mean, I heard of firmware, but i doubt they’re that common, even if people download shady files.

I’m just posting here to see if there’s any way that might happen to me.
(Context: downloaded some shady file in 2022 without knowing the risks. Potentially downloaded the same file early january. Absolutely nothing happened since.)
Or, could anyone explain why and how malware persists after a clean wipe?

I’m not sure if I have an info stealer.

Hi guys, let me start off by saying I’m very, very bad with technology.

I downloaded a shady file back in december 2024, and window defenders blocked it as a Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml. I don’t remember if I let it run or not, although windows defenders doesnt show the file anymore.

For a while now, my laptop has been opening cmd prompts on start up for a split second. Also, 2 of my 9 or so gmail accounts have 2 MacOS logins from the same country as me. (These are from FireFox, considering firefox has “some access to my account”) according to google.

I’d like to clarify, as of right now, all my accounts are fine. I didn’t get hacked or anything, both my game, banking, and social media accounts are fine.

As soon as I realized the danger, I instantly did the following, all from a clean device.

  1. changed all my passwords
  2. added 2fa
  3. kicked the old devices off everything
  4. I’m planning to do a complete install of my laptop when I can.
  5. checking all my recovery options (I’m still in the process of doing this, considering I have to secure all my emails.)
  6. I did do a malwarebyte rootkit scan on the potentially infected device. No dedections.
  7. Disconnected the infected device from the internet.

Despite all this, I’m still very, very paranoid. I’ve heard of stories where people get hit by an infostealer even after securing everything. I’ve also heard stories about people being hit by infostealers and the hackers only doing anything after months or even years.

I’m here to ask for any insight or advice on what else I should do, and how to make myself feel less paranoid. Is it possible the info stealer is still on my device? Is there anything else I should do to secure my accounts?

I’m sorry if this all is a bit incoherent, I have a lot of trouble with reading and writing english. If I’m missing any important detail, please let me know.

Parent file for neshta detected from file I downloaded years ago + cmd prompts opening on startup

Basically, I downloaded some shady files when I was younger (2022-2023) on my windows 10. The file itself worked just fine, I did multiple malwarebyte scans without any detection.

Anyway, I decided to dig deeper recently. Turns out, the file is related to a parent file that has a neshta. I’m not sure how virustotal works, so i’m not sure if a neshta is on my laptop. I deleted the file instantly. (https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/04b5b492df99f552bc149b009705d02a18b19ac64f5946ee72f8120642c30bb3/relations)

Also, i’ve been experiencing command prompts starting up and then quickly closing itself. I looked into startup tasks and It turns out the problem was a broken opera gx path, which is now deleted. I’m not sure if that’s relevant.

With the recent surge of people getting hacked on social media, it’s been making be a bit paranoid, so i’m asking if there’s anything I can or should do about this.

Any advice on avoiding getting banned ? [NOT BAN EVADING]

Hi y’all! sorry if this reads a bit weird. I never really got taught english properly. Anyway, i’m a really, really paranoid person. I often see people talk about getting falsely banned on discord, and it’s making me a bit paranoid.

My account has been around for about 6 years, and I got a lot of memories on there. I’m 19 right now and started using discord when I was 13. As such, I probably have some insensitive jokes in my old messages.

Anyway, as i said, i’ve been scared of using discord simply because of how many people are getting falsely banned and how hard it is to appeal properly. I’ve seen people get banned just for viewing extremely old messages (although i’m not sure how true this is). I left most public servers i don’t speak in, and only use discord to talk to 1 group.

I have most of my close friends on other platforms, but i’d still be a bit upset if my discord account got banned out of nowhere.

Basically what I’m asking is: is there anything else I can do? something to at the very least put my mind at ease? are false bans really *that* common, or are they just constantly being shown to me?

If anyone has any advice, please let me know, thank you.
