I don’t know how to get over the ledge that is starting art.

I don’t know how to start art I have without exaggeration been trying to start teaching myself to learn art for the last decade and what I mean by that is I get really excited about it, and the immediately get frustrated with not being good, or really not understanding why my hand can’t create what’s in my brain, or hell even simple lines. I really want to do digital art because my ultimate goal is so to animation. But I don’t know if it’s just I don’t know/understand all the ins and outs of procreate/digital art, or I’m truely frustrated that I just can’t create what I’d like.

Images are from last may when I said I was going to just get a sketch book and fill out a page every day no matter what (you can see how long that lasted). Sadly even though for the first I actually had an immense amount of fun with what I was able to create I was following along with YouTube videos doing each piece step by step, while I wasn’t directly tracing it really really felt like it and put a HUGE damper on the fun I was having which ultimately lead me to quitting once again after not really giving it a go.

And when I use my iPad it doesn’t even come close even following along with a video on how to do a drawing step by step. Again maybe it’s a lack of understanding of how to use procreate maybe a need to find a more beginner friendly program. I don’t know.

I’m not naive I know being coming the artist I want to be isn’t going to happen over night. I just want to know how to get past this block I don’t know. I’ve done so much research and looking into how to get started I just never seem to go for more than like a day or so/a couple hours.

Also I’ve seen so many videos of people documenting their drawing experience and saying going from traditional pen and paper to digital art felt like starting over from scratch. So is it even worth learning that when I when I ultimately want to do digital art anyways? Am I the only one who’s had this starting block, if not please let me know how you got over it.

I feel like I’m rambling at this point. Any help or advice, suggestions etc would be more than appreciated thank you again.

Edit: also my brain doesn't process how guidelines transition from guild lines into the drawing proper

Corporate needs you to find the difference!

Ignore my shitty attempt at making a meme I know it doesn't over lap the boxes correctly I did my best okay!
Thought of this today and it made me chuckle hoping it makes someone at least smile, and I guess I wish I could go back to the days of people just opening packs to get cool shiny cards not to line their wallets!
