First ping rock + advice wanted

Hello, I was browsing yesterday and saw someone had made one of these using dragon stone and immediately wanted to try my hand at making one. Here’s how mine turned out!
This is going to sound like a ridiculous question considering that I’ve already assembled it, but how can I be certain that my rock is wicking moisture? I would hate for my pings to just dry out.
Edit: I also have no clue what type of pings these are so an ID would be fabulous!

Help me pick my next book?

I'm trying to decide between Peter Straub's Ghost Story, Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park, and Stephen King's Revival. Just a little extra background, my most recent read was Floating Dragon by Straub, and while it had elements I enjoyed, I came away a bit dissatisfied with it. Does anyone think that my displeasure with Floating Dragon will mean I won't like Ghost Story?

Hello, I ordered two Peter Straub books recently and wanted to hear if their are strong opinions on which one I should read first. The books are Floating Dragon and Ghost Story. Let me know if I should absolutely start with one over the other.

Ping advice wanted

These four pings seem quite healthy. Dew is present on all their leaves, the issue is that my room has very few insects for them to catch since I’ve switched away from miracle-gro soil. What should I do to get them the nutrients/food they need?
