I got my first hive this spring and I noticed something interesting

The hive is located on my parents' property in rural nc. All my life, that property has been totally overrun with gnats. now, for no other reason I can think of, there are none. I havent shoo'ed away a single one in months. ik bees don't eat them but is there some means by which a nearby hive might decrease their population?

Grandma's old sewing machine advice. Manuals?

My sister has shown interest in my late grandmas machine that has sat in the basement for a decade or more. Motor runs but that I dont know how to thread it or anything about it. Its a fleetwood 590 deluxe (man the smell of that old brush type motor brings back memories)

Recs for light reading

So things are kinda rough lately with my job and burnout is hitting me hard. got bogged down on book 6 of wheel of time and nothing I pick up seems to be able to keep my interest past a few chapters. Looking for something fun and light, preferably a standalone book. Not interested in romance per se, but a love interest is fine.

Should I be concerned or full send?

picked this (my first solar watch) up recently and after a couple days wearing it at work (constant artificial light) and leaving it in my sunniest windowsill today to gather natural light its still only on medium. normal or no?

Looking for ideas on a good radio for work. replacing a jvc rover that was only ever *just* loud enough to be heard over the hum of production machinery and has gotten quieter of late and doesn't pick up radio very well anymore. Looking for something reasonably portable, maybe about the size of my old sony cfd-s22 or a little bigger. I want to be able to play fm radio, bluetooth, cds, and usb direct playback. being louder with better bass than what I'm replacing would be a plus. Have considered the Panasonic RX-D55GC-K
