Need input on if the quote is a fair price
I need input on how much should be expected to repair the damage on my car (2019 Toyota Prius).
I was on the highway a couple of days ago, and the person that was to the left of me swerved out of their lane and bumped my car.
They’ve offered to pay for the repair, but don’t want to go through insurance (apparently they just switched insurances and so there’s some kind of issue, I don’t really know).
I’ve gotten a quote from a repair shop and it was about $3,500 - is this a reasonable price for these dents and scratches to be fixed?
My car’s been hit in a parking lot in the past (this has been fixed long ago). I remember being surprised at the quote the body shop gave my insurance, so I’m aware that the cost for fixing damage on cars can be expensive. But I was kind of surprised that this kind of damage would cost this much, and the person who hit me said that it sounds extreme (I sent them the quote with the breakdown).
I’ve reached out to a couple of other shops for quotes, but while I wait, I was interested in getting some feedback:
Is this a fair price or if it’s just kinda the "we don’t really want to do this, so here’s the fuck you price"? (I’m in Michigan if that helps)
