a lot of questions about a road trip

so yeah, I'm doing a road trip with some mates of mine, and we plan on taking this route on a "that car program" fashion. But the thing is, my Japanese brain it's not used to the prices and economy of Europe when it comes to used cars and I would like to ask some questions if I'm allowed to.

I'll list them here to make it easier in case anyone can help me(thank you beforehand, I know it's quite a lot).

as I said, we want to do something Top Gear-like, so, we don't want something brand new but we don't want a junk fire, but something that can get some hits(because we'll do challenges) but keep working and if would have some failure, it would be fixable(we are used to work on cars as I do this for hobby for quite some time now) so I would like to know what price would I pay to have something that meets these demands, and if there is something else I should consider or you have questions, please do say it.

Don't worry about the prices or the country we can acquire it, we don't have any problems on that, but we want to do something challenging even if it means losing everything and having to go home without reaching the destination, so it needs to be in that range of "not brand new, but not completely beat up too"

we are considering the body types of Sedan, hatchback, sport, wagon, roadster and cabriolet, so we would like some opinions on that.

the years we are considering it's basically everything between 2000 and 2010, we may take it some years before or after, so, we would like to hear you guys thought on that too!

what are the countries with the best variety for this? Don't need to be in general of all body types or years, you can just say something like "England is good for cabriolets from 2002" or something.

and last of all, what are the best sites for this? I know there is some of them but I would prefer to know from you guys than from what Google recommended me haha.

if you cannot respond to all those questions, it's completely ok, you can respond to what you can and if you just want to ask questions or give opinions, please do it, and if you're willing to help, you are much much appreciated.

Thanks to everyone, it may take a year or two, but we'll make it :)

What can I do to fix this?

Hi everyone! I was cleaning my car today (2019 cadillac xt5) and this small open compartment is peeling pretty badly, all the felt is peeling down to the plastic and the look is really bothering me. Also, I always put my lip liner and sharpener there because I usually retouch it wherever I go, so there’s lip liner stuck to the sides. I tried seeing if I could find some plastic lining, but had no luck. Does anyone have any advice? Tried finding adhesive felt lining, but I’m not too experienced with that and I’m scared I’ll mess it up since it’s front and center of the car.

Dealer quoted me 10.5% on a used car loan, should I keep shopping?

I'm looking to pick up a used car in the soon and was wondering if anyone has experience with car finance? The dealer is offering a 10.5% rate which seems pretty high for a used vehicle. I've been looking at online brokers to see if they can get me a better deal before I commit. Does anyone have an advice or better luck with specific lenders for used car loans lately?

Car purchase

I want to buy my first car, and I found a 23 year old Toyota Corolla with 290,000 km on it.

The price I was given Is very good, and I've been told that it was maintained pretty well, but I heard that after 300 thousand kilometers some important parts begin to break down and I'm scared of expensive repairs.

Could anyone tell me if buying a car like that for my first one is a good idea? Also are expensive repairs likely? I'm not a car guy at all, so I'm a bit lost

Hot take

Honestly the porsche 911 doesn't look that good. The big bump on the top makes it look like a weird bug. While all the other cars are sleek the porsche 911 just looks weird.

why am i get bullied for my car?

sorry if its don’t belong here I just need to get this off my chest
I am 18 y.o and a few months ago bought my own car a grey 2006 Suzuki swift. Nothing special just a basic grey swift in excellent condition and for a really great price. It started with my younger cousin making comments on what a shitty old car I own bc his father owns a brand new Skoda or something like that, then my friends too when they came back from vacation and made a comment about how foreigners can afford to have normal cars and not like here in our country where people have old shit cars while side eyed me, random teens laugh and point at my car etc and everything all together in various formations as mentioned above and i am so tired of it. Is it really that bad or we see to completely different cars? btw we don’t live in an area and country where everyday people can afford new cars too🫩

Best reliable sports cars under $35k? Looking for recommendations

I’m looking for some advice because I don’t know a lot about cars yet, but I’ve always loved sports cars. Every time I see or hear one, I get excited, and I’d really like to own one someday.
My original plan was to buy a Toyota GR86 because I absolutely love how it looks, the price, and the fact that it’s a true sports car. However, I’ve heard mixed things about its reliability, and that has made me a little nervous. I don’t want to spend that much money only to end up dealing with expensive problems later.
So now I’m trying to explore other options. My budget is under $35,000 (new or used), and reliability is probably my biggest priority. I want something that’s fun to drive, looks great, and can be used as a daily driver. I won’t be taking it to the track or doing anything crazy—just normal driving.
What sports cars would you recommend that are reliable, fun, and relatively affordable? I’d love to hear your suggestions and why you’d pick them over a GR86.

First car, rambling, advice needed

I’m 18, Canadian, and currently do not have my license. I’m getting my first job soon after years of fighting my health, I’m finally medically cleared to work and have a license.

the issue is, I have little to no spatial awareness in large vehicles, am scared of big cars, and my city doesn’t allow ATVs (an ATV was my dream vehicle 😭) I also have no balance, and am an ambulatory wheelchair user so I need a second seat to have my wheelchair on.

I know nothing about cars, license, insurance, anything. Eventually I will learn but first I want to know what type of car would fit me best.

I really want a car that only has two seats and is teensy, similar to the ‘Toyota C-pod‘, but they’re discontinued and I dont know how I’d get one.

what should I do? any tips? what car would fit me best or does anyone have any recommendations?

What would make a "car spotting" game actually worth playing?

I've been thinking about an idea and wanted to ask people who actually notice cars in real life.

Imagine a mobile game where, instead of fictional creatures, you discover and collect real cars you encounter in everyday life. You'd build a garage based on cars you've actually seen.

I'm deliberately avoiding getting into gameplay mechanics because I'm much more interested in whether the core idea even sounds interesting.

For people who enjoy spotting cars:

* Would collecting cars you've seen in real life ever become a hobby?
* What would make spotting a rare car genuinely exciting?
* Would you rather the game reward rarity, knowledge, photography, or something else?
* What's the biggest reason you think this idea would fail?

I'm looking for criticism more than encouragement. If you think it's a terrible idea, I'd honestly like to know why.

1997 Toyota Celica GT as first car?

I will need to get my first car soon and I have been thinking about different options. my budget is 10k. obviously I want some sporty manual 2seater but I will be sharing it with my sister, so it will need to be an automatic 4 seater ( not necessarily 4 doors). I have been looking for different cars like a Miata, mr2, 350z, integras, but they either have only 2 seats or aren’t “safe” enough. (My mom is big on safety so it makes this a hard one) if you guys would NOT recommend the celica at all what other suggestions for similar butbsafe cars do you have. (I don’t want to hear the “get a corolla or a civic that’s reliable and good in the long run, unless the civic is like a clean year+model)
