Labi Siffre talks about writing the section in I Got The... which Eminem sampled in My Name Is, and forcing Eminem to tone down the lyrics. (From "Labi Siffre: This Is My Song" (2022))

Stupid question but how do you seek within a track on a HiBy R1?

I don't have any playback menu on mine. I can use the skip and pause controls when I use the drop down menu but I can't see any playback menu when a track is selected.

Eminem's Encore 4 drop is a very bad omen

  • Eminem made the Encore 4s in 2004 to celebrate the release of Encore, an album that was poorly received and considered to end his imperial phase. Eminem went into a retirement following it.
  • Eminem did a second drop of the Encore 4s with StockX in 2017 to celebrate the release of Revival, an album that was so poorly received it turned him into an internet laughing stock in ways he's still recovering from.
  • Eminem is going to be doing a retail drop of Encore 4s in 2027 🙃

When the album launches in 2027 and it's career endingly bad, it's the fault of the shoe. Those things are cursed, and this is proof of why. Thank you.

Eminem's lyrics cited in the Supreme Court in 2015 in an argument in favour of legally protecting violent and inflammatory song lyrics

The context for this is the case debating Anthony Elonis, a horrorcore rapper who wrote and posted on Facebook songs about murdering his wife and coworkers, which his lawyers argued were just venting, and that prosecuting him for threats would make a huge amount of internet content illegal. Justice Alito (a hard conservative) argued that protecting Elonis's lyrics would lead to it being possible to legally make death threats by going to the effort of making them rhyme, and Justice Roberts (a moderate conservative) responded by forcing justices to reckon with the fact that Eminem's lyrics are protected speech.
