Felt like this is very relevant now - Vladimir Lenin’s “Left-Wing” Communism: an Infantile Disorder

In this text Lenin goes in detail about the Split among German Communists. This particular quote is from a footnote. Given the context of the failure in the recent elections, I feel like it is relevant for us to remember this.

If the party or communists in general for that matter don't adapt to the new means of communication and work towards reaching the people where they are, we cannot succeed in bringing class consciousness. While getting things done is very important, it is also equally important to convey them to the masses in a way they can easily understand and relate to.

Love to hear what you guys think about it. Do give the whole text a read/listen, it is very insightful.

>At all events, there is not the least doubt that a Communist party that wishes to be the real vanguard, the advanced detachment, of the revolutionary class, of the proletariat—and which, in addition wishes to learn to lead the masses, not only the proletarian, but also the non-proletarian masses of working and exploited people—must know how to conduct propaganda, how to organise, and how to carry on agitation in a manner most simple and comprehensible, most clear and vivid, both to the urban, factory masses and to the rural masses.

On this day in 1848 the Communist Manifesto was published and 172 years later we face a level of capitalist destruction that threatens the very existence of life on this planet.

On Authority - Frederick Engels (1872) - Discussion Thread

Based on an earlier conversation with u/DioTheSuperiorWaifu , I thought it would be a good idea to start posting some Marxist theory here so that we can have more educated discussions and work towards the Revolution.

If you have read this text, please feel free to join in with your opinions, critics, additional comments below.

I believe this is a text that clearly shows the importance of Who has authority over Whom and How the authority is used. It is not sufficient to merely rebuke all kinds of Authority, as doing so will only result in a chaotic mess. It is very important to understand what authority is and how it both benefits the proletariat and harms it depending on how it is used.

Looking forward to see what everyone thinks about it. Do feel free to correct me if I have understood something incorrectly.

When I see what palantir is doing in the US and elsewhere, I get concerned about the AI cameras that are all over Kerala. What are the privacy and data protections in place regarding it?

You grew up hearing one version of Joseph Stalin dictator, monster, villain of history. You hear his name and I assume you associate it with hateful rhetoric.

But here’s the part they leave out, under Stalin, the Soviet Union went from a largely agrarian, war-torn country to an industrial superpower in a single generation. It built the factories, infrastructure, and military capacity that would go on to crush Nazi Germany in the World War II. At the cost of millions of Soviet lives.

Instead of teaching you why those conditions existed, what pressures the USSR faced, or how rapidly things changed, they instead choose to reduce everything to a cartoon villain. Why? Because if you start looking at the material reality instead of the propaganda, you start asking dangerous questions about what’s possible outside of capitalism.
