'JEE Partial drop 2026-2027':how to exit previous college+ registration process after seat allotment. (URGENT HELP NEEDED)
Hi everyone, I've appeared for JEE this year and with my current percentile, I’m quite confident that I’ll easily get an NIT( tier 2 core, tier 3 cse) seat in JoSAA counselling. However, I’m seriously thinking about taking partial drop — joining the NIT while preparing for JEE 2027 to aim for a better IIT/NIT branch.( Expecting 20-25 k in advance this year 🙃) I have several doubts and would really appreciate clear guidance from seniors who have done partial drop or know the exact process. My main questions: Exact procedure for partial drop Do I need to fully join the NIT (pay fees, report physically, attend classes, etc.) and prepare side by side? How to register for JEE Main 2027 while studying in NIT? Will having an active college seat create any problem during next year’s JEE registration? How to properly leave the college later? If I get a better seat next year, what is the correct way to withdraw from the current NIT? Documents required? Fee refund policy? How much money am I likely to lose? Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2027 If I take admission in NIT this year, will I remain eligible for JEE Advanced next year? Other important things Attendance rules, backlogs risk, hostel issues, time management, mental pressure, etc. I know partial drop is very challenging and needs extreme discipline, but I want to keep a safe backup while pushing for a better rank next year. Please share your real experiences — what worked, what didn’t, expected money loss, and mistakes to avoid. Any help would be really valuable! Thanks in advance 🙏
