If you had to be on bed rest, how long was it?

Omg I just started walking again two weeks ago after this started on June 25. I can only comfortably walk for about 4 hours and that's if I didn't poop right before. But before that I could only be in bed because walking would just make me scream honestly.

Have you had Bloating?

I never thought i would look forward to farting again lmfao. Since I've increased my fiber intake I have been very gassy, im assuming this is just my body getting used to it, but I often can't seem to get the toots out! Even if i push, my booty just contracts or spasms and it just gets stuck.

The bloating has been so bad to the point I can't even really sleep and if I lower the amount of fiber i have really hard stools and im getting anxiety just thinking about it. I do drink lots of water l, almost 3 liters or more, so maybe this is just a wait it out situation? Either way my whole life hurts so what's a bit of bloating right?

AITAH for the text I sent my aunt after she kept dismissing my pain and ignoring my boundaries?

I (25F) recently had an anal fissure reopen, and this episode has been the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. After crying for 30 minutes straight I was in the hospital for 12 hours, had a CT scan and a referralfor an MRI, I was sent home with hydromorphone and laxatives. A few days later I saw a specialist, who told me it was most likely being caused by tight sphincter muscles. My stools are soft and I go to the bathroom daily, so this is not just a matter of “drink water and eat better.”

My aunt (53F) knows how bad this has been. She drove me to the specialist appointment and could hear me crying in pain from the waiting room during the exam. I’ve barely been able to walk normally, even while on pain meds.

The problem is that ever since this started, every conversation with her turns into medical advice. If I say I’m in pain, her response is never sympathy, concern, or asking if I need help. It’s always “you need to exercise,” “push yourself,” “walk more,” “drink more water,” “eat healthier,” etc. I know diet and exercise matter in general, and I know I’m a bit overweight, but she keeps acting like this is a simple flue instead of a painful medical condition that currently makes walking excruciating.

She’s also pescatarian and keeps pushing her diet onto me, telling me to cut back on red meat and “just eat spinach and chickpeas,” even though I’m anemic and supplements are hard on my stomach. It feels like she’s decided she knows what my body needs better than I do.

What pushed me over the edge was this weekend. I went to her house to watch the game because I was finally feeling a little better. After our friends left, she insisted I go for a walk even though I wanted to stay back because I was uncomfortable. Her husband said I could stay home, but she kept saying I needed to walk, so I went because I felt pressured.

Later, another friend came by and my aunt wanted her to drive me home. I didn’t want that because she has a huge Jeep that hurts for me to climb into right now, and I’d also have to carry her anxious bulldog. My uncle kept offering to drive me instead, but my aunt brushed it off and basically said that if I wanted to go blueberry picking the next day, I needed to get over this. Slow easy blueberry picking isn’t painful and light walking is encouraged, but again, I felt like I was maybe being sensitive so I just held in the pain. I spent the rest of the night almost crying because my butt hurt so bad.

The final straw was yesterday. She asked how I was doing, so I told her my butt had been hurting extremely badly, I hadn’t slept, i was bloated and I couldn’t wait to see the doctor again. Instead of empathy, she sent me another lecture about how I need to make my health a priority or things will only get worse as I age. I replied, that I know she loves me and I love her too, but right now what I need is empathy, not tough love, and that the constant health reminders were stressing me out more than helping. I said I would follow my doctor’s advice and my body would heal at it's own pace.

Her response was to send me a list of the “top 3 factors of severe constipation” — low-fiber diet, dehydration, and inactivity.

At that point I replied: “I made it very clear that I do not need any more medical advice, thank you. Boundaries. You mean well, but it feels disrespectful and, like I said, this is not the time. I will continue with what my doctor says privately.” she left me on read and still hasn't answered.

This also isn’t the first time she’s overstepped. When I tell her she’s crossing a line, she either ignores it or makes herself the victim instead of just backing off. I can't exceed the limit so if more info is needed just ask.

AITAH for sending that text and being blunt about needing her to stop? I feel bad but a friend says im gaslighting myself.

I’m tired of people acting like anal fissures are “not a big deal”

I’m honestly so tired of people acting like anal fissures aren’t that serious. I’m tired of hearing things like “just walk more,” “drink more water,” “take a laxative,” or “you really won’t go to work because of something like this?”

No, I’m not going to work when I can barely walk and my ass is bleeding. I do drink water, and I’ll walk when I’m not bleeding, crying, and in so much pain that I can barely function.

Right now I’m taking hydromorphone for the pain, plus laxatives, fiber, ointments, and anesthetics for the next two weeks, and then my doctor will decide if I need Botox or surgery. The pain has been so bad it’s made me nauseous. It genuinely feels like my whole life hurts, and on top of that, dealing with people who don’t take it seriously or don’t believe how excruciating it is just makes everything worse.

I’ve already stopped talking to two people because of how dismissive they’ve been. I miss being able to poop without crying. The healing process is slow, but I can tell I’m getting there. I just hope I’m not overreacting or becoming too sensitive because of how much pain I’ve been in.
