Rise of the tomb raider is a huge step up from 2013

I've been working through every tomb raider game chronologically on ps5 and getting every trophy (no Underworld, since it is not available). 2013 was disappointing in many ways. The survival mechanics were implied, but basically nonexistent, with the only thing to gain from exploring and hunting was experience and salvage, with crafting only involving salvage. The action set pieces, while they can be fun, are much less exciting and involved as what you would find in Uncharted.

I started playing Rise and just arrived at the Geothermal Valley. My impressions so far show a lot of improvement from the previous game. There are greater rewards for exploring. Hunting and crafting are an actually fleshed out game mechanic, and the environment is more open with a lot more content to engage with. It is a lot more exploration focused than combat focused, making it feel more like tomb raider than uncharted. There are still the action set pieces and longer chat scenarios, but far more of the game is spent exploring and solving puzzles.

I have heard that Shadow of the Tomb Raider shifts more towards action than Rise, but it has to be better than 2013. Especially if it doesnt spend the whole game treating Lara like an almost fetishistic prop for the developers to beat down as much as possible.
