Dr. Tiel is hard at work in the lab today. So far, her peer-reviewed findings indicate that science science science science science...

Ultimate week day vibes. Brought the little buddy outside to catch some fresh air and shade while I hammock. ☀️🦜

Just hanging out in the backyard listening to the wild birds with my favorite child. They seem pretty content with the view!

Is this a normal/healthy weight progression for a 3 month old cockatiel?

Hey everyone! I've been tracking my young cockatiel's weight over the last month, and I wanted to get some second opinions on whether this progression looks healthy.

May 1st: 93g

May 7th: 90g (had a slight dip here)

May 16th: 106g

May 24th: 118g

May 31st: 129g

They seem to be gaining pretty steadily after that first week dip, but 129g feels like it might be getting on the heavier side for a tiel, or is this just normal growth spurt territory for a juvenile?

Soaking up some sunshine and fresh air.

Brought the cage out to the patio today so this little chicken could get a change of scenery. I think the toy is still the main attraction, though. Just wanted to share some happy bird vibes!

Also she was only out there for 20 minutes. If you take your birb outside in the sun make sure it's only for 15 to 30 minutes depending on the heat.

Why is my bird screaming specifically at me?

My young cockatiel is a total sweetheart, but there’s one issue: constant baby screaming whenever they are out of the cage and on my shoulder.

The weird part is that they stop the second I leave the room. It’s like they only want to scream at me. Is this just a phase, or am I doing something to encourage it? Any tips on how to get some quiet bonding time would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone! I’m a new owner and just brought home this little one this week. I was hoping some of the mutation experts here could help me identify exactly what variety they might be! Don’t worry about the bent tail feathers! They are only 10 weeks old and still learning how to navigate their tail, so things are looking a little clumsy right now while they're still a baby.

Does this look like a standard Pearl mutation, or maybe a Cinnamon Pearl? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I finally got around to making a big batch of chop today, but I definitely overestimated how much I needed. I’ve started portioning them into ice cube trays to freeze, but I have a few questions for the experts:

How long does chop usually stay "good" in the freezer before it gets freezer burn?

Once I thaw a cube, how long can it sit in the bowl before I should toss it?

Are there any creative ways to use up the extra mix besides just freezing it?
