CPA Exam preparation

Has anyone here taken the CPA exams or are licensed? My job is paying for it I’ll be given access to Becker this week, just looking for study tips and what not I don’t return to work full time until September. I’ll be unemployed from now to September 8th just trying to see how long I should be studying and if 4 months is enough to pass at least two of the exams? Any additional outside resources that helped you get through the exams would be greatly appreciated as well thank you!

My journey at Wgu

I started at wgu back in 6/25 and graduated 5/14/26, I actually chose IT management as my major but honestly just didn’t trust the job market with that industry. I had been working as a CNA for almost 10 years I started when I was 17 I’m 24 now. I hated my job it was stressful on my body and mind, working through the pandemic made me realize quickly I didn’t want to be In health care anymore. So as the years went by I was planning my exit, I had no plans of ever going to college until trump got in office sounds stupid but I needed to think about my future long term and didn’t think it was smart to continue life without a degree so I applied to wgu. Obviously after a couple classes in my initial major I made the switch very early on didn’t know anything about Accounting, as I went through the classes I didn’t take it super serious I was also in the process for getting a diagnosis for adhd. 5 months later after an official diagnosis and working through the courses I was having a hard time because I could do the work but did not understand it so I tried to switch my major again because I thought I wasn’t smart enough for a degree in accounting. After my major switched the next day I kid you not I asked them to switch it back and I’m so glad I did because that same month I applied to a pretty big firm in my state and got the internship. I still hadn’t taken any core accounting classes so wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. It was a super rocky internship I was constantly tested and reminded I have a lot of learn but I stuck it out and worked my butt off and got a return offer. I went from being a burnt out CNA no plans of school making shit money to an accountant in tax making more than I’ve ever made in my life currently getting ready to start prepping for the CPA and I couldn’t do it without WGU and this subreddit 💛 sorry for the possible typos and terrible grammar I just woke up but yes I took all of my core accounting classes while I did my internship and honestly didn’t do any of the intermediate accounting classes until literally two weeks ago 🫣

How I passed d104 In two days

Alright units 2-3 this is the excel portion I’m not going to lie I was lost….fighting for my life….but I scored the best on this exam than I did any exam I’ve taken at this school. Follow the same process I tell y’all watch the course resources videos, take notes, do all the module quizzes and unit test, and bonus: RETAKE THE EXCEL PORTION ON THE PA AND KEEP DOING IT UNTUL YOU MASTER IT.
Took me about 6hrs yesterday.

Units 4-6…..this portion uhm lord have mercy anyway. Watch the course resources videos, unit test and quizzes, take the PA once with study material, then again without study material. If you do good the 2nd time around take that OA highly recommended you focus on stockholder equity.
Took me 9hrs today.

My advice and tips on these classes are for everyone but especially for people who are like me with learning disabilities, reading is not the vibe, and have ADHD. Yes I’m accelerating but I do genuinely retain the information I’m learning you’ll be just fine! 3 more to go letssss gooooo 🎓

I didn’t read anything.

Use the course resources 🎓 for units 2-3 I finished in about 6 hours I only watched the course videos and took notes. I recommend drawing out the different statements on paper it help me memorize exactly where everything will go in the excel portion. Took the PA did great immediately took the OA and passed they are very similar.

I did the exact same thing the next day with units 5-7, watched the videos and took notes finished in like 6 hours. I did unfortunately fail the first time yesterday only on one section I got distracted actually by my partner who wasn’t suppose to be in the room and got so thrown off re took it today passed it.

As I’m wrapping up my classes I noticed when I looked up the courses I’m taking in this subreddit to see how other people tackled it. Majority of the post are in my opinion exaggerating how hard someone of the classes are. This is coming from someone who is I can’t stress this enough not book smart like at all and has learning disabilities, I’ve genuinely been finishing my classes dang near in one day. Four more to go the goal is to be finished by this weekend wish me luck!

Hello all does anyone know any tattoo artist in the twin cities area or anyone in Minnesota for that matter who can tattoo dark skin? I’ve always been a piercing kind of person unfortunately joining corporate America I had to take out all my piercings 🫠 I want to scratch this itch by getting tattoos but I can’t find many places or artists who have done work on dark skin so! If anyone knows where to point me in the right direction or anything it will be greatly appreciated thanks!
