Best RV Loans in Michigan?

Hey everyone. I'm looking for an RV Loan for a small camper. I'm in Michigan. Hoping for 100% LTV, but might go 90%. I called my local credit union, and their rates were OK, but not great. Would love to hear if someone got a great deal / rate. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Looking for the best rate for a loan for a small camper

Hi all,

I'm looking to finance a small camper. $50,000 at most (I've been looking at one of those Safari Altos), but probably closer to $10,000 - $20,000.

Anyway, is there a best place to get a loan for a camper these days? I am in Michigan. I have a car loan from DCU for 2.00% (crazy, I know) but I don't think they have rates that good anymore.

Would love to hear peoples' input. Thanks!

Does anyone know any companies that have a 97% LTV cash out refinance?

I've heard there out there. I assume it'd be a credit union, but I can't find one. Looking to do a cash out refinance and maximize what I can pull out.

Safari Condo Alto R1723 - Can it be used without fully raising the roof?

I'm seriously considering a Safari Condo Alto R1723, but I have a unique situation.

My garage is:

  • 9' wide
  • 19' long
  • Standard 7' garage door
  • 90" from floor to bottom of ceiling joists
  • About 104" from floor to the roof sheathing
  • About 12" between the joists

According to the specs, the R1723 is about 107" tall with the roof fully raised.

My goal is to have a camper that I can potentially use while it's parked inside the garage. Ideally, I'd like something with:

  • A toilet
  • A shower
  • A small kitchen with a stove, sink, and fridge
  • Comfortable enough for extended stays
  • Fits through a standard 7' garage door

My questions for Alto owners:

  1. How wide is the raised roof section at the very top? Is it narrow enough that the peak could potentially fit between joists that are about 12" apart?

  2. Has anyone measured the actual highest point when the roof is fully raised? Is the 107" spec conservative or pretty accurate?

  3. Can the Alto be safely used if the roof is raised almost all the way, but not fully? For example, if I was 1-3 inches short of the fully locked position.

  4. If the roof wasn't fully raised, would the bed, kitchen, toilet, and shower still be usable?

  5. Has anyone spent time inside the Alto with the roof down? Could you realistically sit, sleep, work on a laptop, cook, use the fridge, use the bathroom, etc., with the roof completely lowered?

  6. If you had my garage constraints, would you still consider the R1723, or would you recommend a different Alto model?

  7. More broadly, is there a better option out there entirely? I'm open to:

    • Other Alto models
    • Hi-Lo
    • TrailManor
    • Scamp
    • Casita
    • Pop-ups
    • Hard-side campers
    • Anything else that might fit these constraints

Has anyone found a camper with a toilet, shower, and small kitchen that can fit through a standard 7' garage door and still be reasonably usable while stored in a garage?

Thanks!

Looking for a camper with bathroom that can be used inside a garage with 90" ceiling

I'm trying to find a camper I can actually live in while it's parked inside my garage.

Garage dimensions:

  • 9' wide
  • 19' long
  • Standard 7' garage door
  • 90" from floor to bottom of ceiling joists
  • 104" from floor to roof sheathing
  • Only about 12" between joists

The important part is that the camper needs to be usable/open while inside the garage.

I've already looked at:

  • Aliner Ranger 10/12
  • Aliner LXE
  • Rockwood A122S
  • Safari Condo Alto R1713/R1723
  • Scamp
  • Hi-Lo
  • TrailManor

The problem is that even though some of these have roof peaks that might fit between joists, the joist bays are only about 12" wide. So realistically I think I need a camper with an occupied/open height of around 90" or less, not 104", unless I can fit the peak between that. I think the Safari Condo Alto R1713/R1723 could work though.

Requirements:

  • Toilet required
  • Shower required
  • Kitchen area with fridge, stove, sink, etc.
  • Standing room or near-standing room
  • Length under about 19'
  • Can fit through a standard 7' garage door
  • Can actually be used while inside the garage

Does a camper like this exist, or am I looking at custom solutions, Hi-Lo style campers, or converting a cargo trailer?

Looking for specific makes/models.

Navy Federal has a 95% LTV cash out refinance program. Is it too good to be true?

No origination fees, no pmi, etc. You can get up to 95% LTV at a decent rate (around 7ish). Is it too good to be true or am I overlooking anything?

Any 97% LTV cash out refinances products available out there?

Navy Federal has a 95% LTV cash out refinance product, but curious if there are any that have 97%. Navy Federal doesn't require any pmi too since they're a credit union. Any others at 97% LTV?

I'm refinancing my home and can only take out 80% equity. Is there a way to get the remiaining 20% out?

I can only get out 80% of the equity of the home. Is there a way to get out any more of the 20%, if not all of the 20%?

Which thermal expansion tank should I get for a Bradford White 50 gal power vent?

I posted here previously about which water heater to get:
https://www.reddit.com/r/askaplumber/comments/1tbjukq/bradford_white_vs_rheem_power_vent_what_should_i/

I ended up deciding on the Bradford White RG1PV50S6N 50-gallon power vent.

Someone there also recommended adding a thermal expansion tank:
https://www.reddit.com/r/askaplumber/comments/1tbjukq/comment/oli39fd/

They suggested a 4.4-gallon expansion tank, but I haven’t really gotten clarity on:

  • whether I truly need one
  • what brand/model is best
  • whether some are noticeably better than others long term

My plumber will source it from Ferguson:
https://www.fergusonhome.com/

House details:

  • Natural gas
  • Municipal/city water
  • Michigan
  • Replacing older gas tank water heater
  • Installing new Bradford White 50 gal power vent

Questions:

  1. Is a thermal expansion tank actually recommended/needed for this setup?
  2. Is 4.4 gallon the right size?
  3. Which brand/model would you personally choose from Ferguson for reliability/longevity?

Trying to do the install correctly the first time without overcomplicating things. Thanks.

Bradford White vs Rheem power vent - what should I get?

I'm getting my water heater replaced with a power vent. This is what I could get:

Brand Size Model Installed Price
Rheem 40 Gallon PROG40-40N-RH67-PV $1,725
Rheem 50 Gallon PROG50S-36N-RH67-PV $1,850
Bradford White 40 Gallon RG1PV40S6N $1,725
Bradford White 50 Gallon RG1PV50S6N $1,850

I'm learning towards the 50 gal for either Bradford White or Rheem. Which would you guys do? Also, for that price range, would you go with a different model? If so, which one?
