Another group of wonderful support cast with stunning colors. And the birds sure look like the ones thrown into “Truth About Mother Goose” cel I posted earlier.
A little gold tarnish but otherwise very clean. 35mm size which was large for its time.
Now resting under dinning table after a strenuous liver exercise…
All the lesser characters are great works in this movie.
Some paint cracks but another example of the quality of animation work back in the late 50s. Sold at Disney Corner for not much money but I just love them.
Hand painted but NOT original background.
Some sericels are better than others. This is one of them. Simple, great pose and just lovely. Early 2500 series. If you or your kids or grand kids love Disney characters, these are great gifts as they all come properly framed with shatterproof acrylics and costs less than the framing or a family meal at Burger King😁😁
This Pinocchio Blue Fairy piece was so hard to get most collectors have NEVER seen one other than on photography or catalog. No gallery have one available as all were bought pre-release and stashed away. I tried hard and couldn’t get one for $3500 in 1990.
This one I had acquired subsequently off secondary market. The story then was how Disney Paint and Ink Department struggled to do the translucent wings. Why buy a reproduction for that kind of money back in 1990? Have anyone seen an original Pinocchio Blue Fairy production cel ? I have a few years ago but the price was far beyond what I could afford.
So here it is along with one of the main NY galleries catalog using it as cover and “price upon request” 😁
That was the golden days of animation cel collecting. Like owning a Rolex after the pandemic. Everyone wants one, may be five…
The first Aladdin sericel
Circa 1990s. 2500 edition. Owner since new. Custom framed with commissioned air brushed background
Value: who cares 😁😁😁😁
Doesn’t it look great?
Disney had made some truly remarkable limited edition hand painted work that captured the scene more than the original movie ever could such as in this 30” wide cel with a gorgeous reproduction background and over a dozen animals alongside Briar Rose. This “Once Upon A Dream” cel from the 90s was bought brand new and I had floated the mats with spacers. No this is not original art which I love to collect but the value is in how beautiful it is. Been displayed on one of my walls since my kids were young and now enjoyed by their kids.
Since there is zero interest in The Sword in the Stone, I am putting out some serious villains starting with this young lass…
