WHY HASN’T ANYONE MADE A WHEEL COVER LIKE THIS FOR THE MODEL Y STANDARD YET? 😅

I’ve been looking for aftermarket wheel covers for the Tesla Model Y Standard’s 18” Aperture wheels, and almost all of them have the same problem: they try to mimic sporty alloy wheels with thin spokes, but you can still see the metal spokes of the steel wheel behind them.

Personally, I think it looks pretty bad.

So I made this concept design specifically to solve that problem: spokes/blades wide enough to completely cover the steel wheel underneath, while leaving only the ventilation openings visible.

That way, it actually looks like a complete alloy wheel rather than a wheel cover sitting on top of another visible structure.

I’m genuinely surprised that no manufacturer has released something like this yet for the 18” Aperture wheels.

If anyone here knows a wheel-cover manufacturer, Tesla accessories company, or Chinese supplier who might be interested, please send them this design. I’d buy a set without thinking twice. 😂

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that you can see the metal wheel spokes behind most of the current aftermarket covers?

HEPA filter is now available for the Model Y Standard!

Good news for Model Y Standard owners: it looks like we can finally install a HEPA filter on the Standard version.

🎥 Video showing the filter and installation:

Nice upgrade for those of us who wanted the better air filtration available on the higher trims.

Has anyone here already installed one? Any noticeable difference in air quality or airflow?

What’s the one thing you wish you had known before buying a Model Y Standard?

If you already own a Model Y Standard, what’s the one thing you wish someone had told you before you bought it?

It could be anything:
- Battery or charging habits
- Real-world range
- Comfort
- Software features
- Accessories you ended up buying
- Something that surprised you (good or bad)

I’m sure new buyers would appreciate some honest, real-world advice from current owners.

Looking forward to reading your experiences!

Why did you choose the Model Y Standard over the Premium?

The Model Y Premium offers more equipment, but the Standard is cheaper, simpler and may be enough for many drivers.

What made you choose the Standard?

  • Lower purchase price?
  • Better value for money?
  • Enough range for your daily use?
  • Preference for the simpler interior?
  • Lower financing cost?
  • You simply did not need the extra features?

Also mention your country, since pricing and equipment vary by market.

For those still deciding: what feature from the Premium is making you hesitate?

Which low-cost model gets closest to Opus for reasoning and code generation?

I’m looking for a cheaper alternative to Opus through OpenRouter, mainly for software development tasks.

My typical use cases are:

  • Analyzing large codebases
  • Debugging complex issues
  • Architectural discussions
  • Refactoring
  • Generating production-quality code
  • Following long chains of reasoning without losing context

I know nothing in the budget tier will fully match Opus, but I’m interested in the models that come closest in practice.

For those who have used multiple models extensively, which of the lower-cost options would you recommend today?

I’m particularly interested in experiences with models such as:

  • DeepSeek (V3, V4, Pro, Flash, etc.)
  • Qwen models
  • Gemini models
  • GPT models available through OpenRouter
  • Any other hidden gems

If possible, I’d appreciate comparisons based on:

  • Reasoning quality
  • Coding ability
  • Reliability/consistency
  • Context handling
  • Cost effectiveness

Which model gives you the best “Opus-like” experience without Opus-level pricing?

What happens to GitHub Copilot Enterprise tomorrow with the new usage-based billing?

I work for a large multinational company and we have GitHub Copilot Enterprise licenses provided by the company.

Until now, we’ve basically had a monthly quota and didn’t have to think much about usage. With the new usage-based model starting tomorrow, I’m trying to understand what this means in practice for Enterprise customers.

A few questions:

  • Will Enterprise users still have any included monthly allowance before additional charges apply?
  • Who gets billed when limits are exceeded: the company, the GitHub organization, or the individual user?
  • Can organizations set hard spending limits or usage caps?
  • What happens if a user exceeds the included quota? Does Copilot stop working, switch to a different model, or continue generating charges?
  • How are large enterprises planning to manage this change?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from engineering managers, platform teams, or anyone already preparing for the transition.

Thanks.
