Why does turning snippets into an actual story feel so unsatisfying

I have imagined these tiny supernatural mystery stories and mythical monsters in my head for weeks. Stuff like a creature that only comes out to hunt in 0 light, crypits that mimic family dogs in order to get inside their home, people possessing stuff etc. i decided to put them into a episodic story of a Mother and son duo responding to these creatures, but every time i try to write a story, I’m never satisfied with the result. Sure i can write about how a girl discovered a Dog smiling at her though the window at night and how police hung up on her as soon as she described what the dog looked like, and just leave it at that. But as soon as i try to add a plot and resolution to that snippet, I always end up feeling like the original snippet lost its horror/charm it had and just end up not satisfied with any result

Can a plot have different themes for different characters

My story kinda leans towards pixar’s what if *blank* was alive and had feelings formula. Brand mascots are real and their whole job is to market their products, if they don’t do good they are retired by their company. Some mascots struggle while others rule and become iconic. This has potential since bigger mascots can symbolize corporations that put down smaller struggling mascots, aka smaller businesses.

But the main reason mascots also need to have good marketing is because, being relevant is what keeps them alive. When people talk about them, and see their products in them, thats whats keeps them alive. Being retired is death for them in a way. But eventually the whole point of the story is that they find out whats keeping them alive isn’t people talking about them, its the love consumers have for them. This also has potential for symbolism on social media clout and fame, real love vs being famous

And the characters are supposed to have their own themes about love, one character, a creepy mascot for a toy company, hates himself for being scary and thinking the only reason he’s alive is because people talk about how creepy he looks when in reality there are still children who love him and see him as their favorite toy.

So my story would have themes of capitalism, social media comentary and about self love, but im told these themes are too distant to work together

I genuinely get so pissed when I see stuff like this idk why

Theres just something about it, i swear its not because im lonely but this just radiates smol gf and big manly bf so much. I hate it beyond just that. I had a friend who had humor like this and i cringed so hard at it, I would hate being a boyfriend who had a gf that acted this way. I want to love a woman not a robot

[Hiring] Looking for simple OC sprites similar to a soft artstyle like this.

(Second image credits can be found in the picture) these are not my characters, just art style examples

My OCs are not super detailed in nature. I would describe them more as drawing a TADC character. Im looking for A few sprites of some of my OCS, A simple art style like the first one, is preferred but a bit detailed yet soft art style like the second one can be alright.

These sprites are intended to be used for skits i would upload online, I am not monetized but if you count that as commercial work then Its okay.

If i choose you this would be a discussion phase and you wouldn’t have to draw anything yet. Its summer and im switching summer jobs so I won’t commision the work until I secure the second job. I would have a budget of 70 but it can go higher if needed

How can I make a character, more morally gray/kinda a bad person

My MC’s a teen hero who forms a rebellion against his dystopian government with the help of other heros. His mentor Rafa, is one of the most powerful heros yet he doesnt stop his government mostly due to fear of being a wanted criminal. He has more power than them yet doesn’t use it

Most of what he does at first is just what anyone would do. He scolds and goes to extremes to stop the rebellion in order to keep his mentee safe. He doesn’t care about the the citizens, just keeping someone he personally knows safe.

Near the end is when he does cross bad person territory, as he sells out the rebellion excluding his student to try to protect just the Mc. And eventually when the Mc is captured, he watches frozen in place, being too scared even now to save his student.

But in the beggining, i don’t have much else for how to make him morally gray and not just a responsible adult trying to stop a a dangerous rebellion plan

How do you balance out advancing the plot and chill moments

The characters in my story are kids, so I do write scenes of regular hang outs, doing dumb stuff, playing sports etc, a friend read what i currently have and told me that those scenes always have to tie back to advancing the plot/conflict somehow or else just remove them

This is my first story so is she right or do you just have to balance it well

How do you balance out advancing the plot and breaks

My story is set in a fantasy environment, with kingdoms, creatures etc. The main conflict is the main characters starting a rebellion against the government that steals resources and oppresses other kingdoms, threatening to quit protecting them from the evil creatures if they fight back

Advancing the plot for my characters would be, fighting the government officials while evading them. But I also want to explore the fantasy side of my story since the wilderness in my world is a place where you could find any creature or town etc.

But I don’t really know how to fit this into the main conflict, sometimes I would like to have a secondary conflict between the characters and a creature they encounter but Im not sure how to tie it back in to the main conflict

Why did cartoons with plots go from 26 eps a season, 25 mins each to just 8

Im talking about shows like avatar, adventure time etc not shows like bluey with no overarching plot. Why did hour long 8 episodes start becoming the norm

When writing powers, does grounded let the audience relate more?

If i want to write a superhero horror story, If a villain walks into a room of full of people, I feel like there would be more suspense or it would be scarier for the audience if the villain was maybe strong enough to punch a human so hard they crack a wall. But for some reason I just can’t feel that same way if the villain is superman world ending level of strong.

Or feel more impact at a hero struggling but managing to lift a car off someone than them struggling but managing to push a comet back to space

How do you decide what your story focuses on

For about a year ive been making a story in my head but since i didn’t intent to actually try to make it a real book, its very scrambled almost like the marvel universe where there are so many plotlines and settings in one world. Im finally deciding to write this story but I don’t know on what to focus on so its not cluter. My story is sorta like AOT(humans surviving and hunting monsters that hunt them). The humans in my story survive in a magical world trying to kill them, seems like enough, but at the same time the B plot of it is the main characters trying to rebel against their government (which is basically a just a big evil company) which is a completely different thing. So I have 2 plots, one where i think i could get more creative with, having the Mcs explore a magical world where they could encounter anything but i also have the idea of them being a rebellion which I feel would be fun to write.

I know I can simply just make 2 different stories, but im so attatched to this world and characters that if i did seperate them, i wouldnt feel any attatchment to the second story

In my story there are both superheros and supernatural creatures that roam earth. For the human side, its pretty easy, imagine a human living in a cabin seeing a creature outside at night and having to hide during a break in. But for the hero characters i feel like its more difficult. Since horror relies on the helplessness, while action/superheros are about power which makes them not helpless.

Since them encountering a creature wouldn’t be scary, it would just be a good vs evil battle. Maybe i can make the ones they encounter be stronger, but how would i convey that to the audience. Its like trying to imagine superman in a horror movie, it just takes away from the horror

The theme of my story is about those who turn a blind eye to wrong. Centuries ago,KORPS a secretly evil government found a sentient magic source, that they planed on using for their own gain. This magic source knowing their intentions, set a seal where someone could only awaken their magic the moment they found out KORPS was evil. In hopes that every magic user would by default know their plans and be able to stop it

Centuries later, there are thousands of magic users, yet not one has stopped KORPS. Despite them awakening their magic the moment they whitnesses KORPS doing a bad action. The main character is one of these but unlike the others, he fights to put korps down and he also had moral arguments on other magic users who turned the other way despite having the power to stop KORPS.

Yet i want to explore my world’s magical side, like hidden civilizations, magical creatures, yet since i don’t know how to tie them back with the theme, they would be filler and im not sure if thats okay
