I’m new to the fragrance world (at least seriously), although I’ve been interested in it for years. I’ve owned a few here and there, but recently started building a small collection:
• Davidoff Cool Water Parfum
• 9PM Night Out Elixir – Afnan
• Supremacy Collector’s Edition – Afnan (haven’t opened yet, saving for special occasions)
• Oud Arabia Dubai – One (biggest mistake ever)
• Blue by Ahmed
• Seoul by Zara (been using this since around 2015 — must’ve finished 10+ bottles)
I’m very much into aquatic/fresh fragrances (may be visible by my choices too :p). Seoul was my first ever buy as a teen, and I still love it despite the noticeable drop in performance over the years. Cool Water is my go-to for brunches/special day events, 9PM is strictly for nights out (fits the name perfectly), and Supremacy is something I just really love and want to keep for occasions.
Quick rant: Oud Arabia 1 was honestly a terrible buy. I picked it up drunk at a mall within 10 minutes because the store smelled great — regret it fully. Lasts under an hour, the lid literally broke into two parts within 2 months, and the atomizer is trash. Lesson learned.
A few things I’d love help with:
1. Storage:
Right now I keep all my fragrances in their boxes, inside my almirah. No sunlight exposure, and my room has pretty strong AC so it stays cool (though there might be some moisture). Is this the right way to store them or should I change something?
2. Maturation:
How exactly does a fragrance “mature”? Does it actually improve over time? How long does that usually take?
3. Collection feedback + next buys:
How does my current collection look for a beginner?
I’m planning to get:
Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa (for winters)
Rare Reef by Afnan (absolutely love it)
Since I lean heavily towards aquatic/fresh profiles, I’d love suggestions to expand my collection and my “nose buds” and have something different — open to versatile must-haves too.
