Player Updates and News (8/19)

I’ve been keeping track of fantasy relevant news and updates from beat writers, national reporters, and fantasy analysts. Here's a recap of any quote or update that stood out to me today.

I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person. Let me know if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I’ve also been asking beat writers fantasy relevant questions through their mailbags whenever possible.

Note: Every update has the writer's name with a source link that will direct you to the website where I read the quote. If you only see a writer's name, that will be for something I specifically read on Twitter/X.

Broncos

  • Jaylen Waddle: "Hello, Jaylen Waddle. Just caught a ~60 yard bomb from Bo Nix. Good on good, with PS2 right there with him. Up there with the best plays of camp. A clear example of why the Broncos’ made the splash trade this offseason." (source: Aric DiLalla)

Browns

Did not practice today: Quinshon Judkins, Cedric Tillman

Buccaneers

Did not practice today: Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr., Jalen McMillan, Cade Otton

  • Kenny Gainwell: "Kenny Gainwell was the running back who stood out most the following morning. Gainwell has started to settle in taking carries out of the backfield, but it is his receiving ability that continues to be the most impressive part about what he brings to the offense. He had a solid showing throughout practice whether as a ballcarrier or receiver. His biggest play was a catch down the left sideline that went for about 15-20 yards." (source: Adam Slivon)
  • Ted Hurst: "Ted Hurst made the most of his chances on Wednesday. With Chris Godwin Jr., Emeka Egbuka, and Jalen McMillan remaining out of practice, Hurst was the No.1 wide receiver by default. He sure looked the part with three big catches during practice. The theme throughout camp is the third-round pick looking “Mike-like” at times, and his first big catch of the day sure fit that description." (source: Adam Slivon)

Chiefs

  • Rashee Rice: "It’s still early with Rice coming off a knee cleanup, but he has yet to show consistent separation this camp." (source: Pete Sweeney)

Colts

vs. Falcons in joint practice today

  • Tyler Warren: "Tyler Warren left practice with an apparent groin injury. He’s now back with his teammates on the sideline, still in uniform, but without a helmet. Assuming he’s done for at least today." (source: Stephen Holder)
  • Tyler Warren: "It’s a groin injury for Colts TE Tyler Warren, per Shane Steichen" (source: Jake Arthur)
  • D.J. Giddens: "DJ Giddens opened practice in uniform, but after individual he left with a trainer and appeared to be indicating his hamstring, which has kept him out the last couple weeks" (source: Joel A. Erickson)
  • Daniel Jones, Seth McGowan: "The ball did not hit the turf for Daniel Jones after kind of a rocky week for the passing offense. Flawless, not one incompletion from him today. I had him about 14 of 14. A lot of Ashton Dulin, a lot of Seth McGowan making some plays out of the backfield as well." (source: Kevin Bowen)

Commanders

Did not practice today: Rachaad White (undisclosed), Jeremy McNichols (quad)

Cowboys

vs. Saints in joint practice yesterday

  • George Pickens: "George Pickens continues to have a strong camp. He was the Cowboys’ best offensive player in their practice with the Rams and it appeared to be the same on Tuesday. Catching passes across the middle or hauling in deep balls, Pickens looks ready for a big season." (source: Jon Machota)
  • Ryan Flournoy: "Wide receiver Ryan Flournoy continues to build on what he did last season. It’s clear that Prescott has a lot of trust in him. His best play Tuesday was a catch in the back of the end zone in red zone work where he not only made the leaping grab but quickly got both feet in bounds. The Cowboys have themselves an excellent No. 3 wide receiver." (source: Jon Machota)
  • Jake Ferguson: "It’s interesting to see that the Cowboys have been doing more shovel passes to tight end Jake Ferguson coming in motion in short yardage and red zone situations." (source: Jon Machota)

Eagles

vs. Patriots in joint practice today

Did not practice today: Grant Calcaterra (back), Dameon Pierce (hamstring), Johnny Wilson (knee)

Limited: DeVonta Smith, Makai Lemon

  • Makai Lemon: "For the first time since he suffered a hamstring injury on Aug. 3, Makai Lemon was listed as a limited participant. Lemon didn’t participate in early drills and wasn’t even in uniform, but he was on the field running routes after practice in cleats. It looks like Lemon is nearing a return after missing a ton of reps in training camp." (source: Dave Zangaro)
  • Saquon Barkley: "Saquon Barkley looked fast and explosive running wide zone and the Patriots couldn’t match his speed. Barkley also had several big plays on receptions, first a screen behind blocks from Landon Dickerson and Dontayvion Wicks and then on a couple wheel routes. Barkley only has 70 catches in his two seasons with the Eagles, but when he gets the ball in space like he did Wednesday good things happen." (source: Dave Zangaro)

Jaguars

vs. Panthers in joint practice today

  • Travis Hunter: "Jaguars CB/WR Travis Hunter 11-on-11 snap tracker. Day 16 snaps: 30 (28 defense, 2 offense). Total snaps: 229 (163 defense, 65 offense, 1 special teams) (not including Saints joint practice)" (source: Michael DiRocco)
  • Brian Thomas Jr.: "I thought Brian Thomas Jr. had a strong practice. He was the most-targeted Jaguars receiver on the day with Parker Washington out, and he caught every target until the last two. One of those looked like a potential DPI, while the other was an overthrow from Lawrence. Thomas' best play came when settling into a zone over the middle of the field and making an adjustment to catch an off-target pass for a big chunk gain." (source: John Shipley)
  • Tanner Koziol: "Tanner Koziol had an impressive day. He caught a touchdown from Nick Mullens in the red-zone, and then completely ran over Panthers safety Zakee Wheatley." (source: John Shipley)

Jets

Did not practice today: Breece Hall (groin), Isaiah Davis (knee)

Lions

Did not practice today: Sam LaPorta (undisclosed)

  • Jameson Williams: "Wide receiver Jameson Williams missed the last two Detroit Lions practices with a minor shoulder injury, but was back on the Meijer Performance Center field Wednesday. He made his presence felt immediately on the first play of the first team period." (source: Tim Twentyman)

Packers

  • Josh Jacobs: "Josh Jacobs is practicing for a second straight day after missing nearly two weeks because of a groin injury." (source: Rob Demovsky)

Panthers

vs. Jaguars in joint practice today

Did not practice today: Chuba Hubbard (hamstring), Darren Waller

  • John Metchie: "In that move-the-ball period, Young started with a quick throw to the flat for John Metchie III, who has been getting more and more reps with the first team in recent practices." (source: Darin Gantt, Kassidy Hill)
  • Xavier Legette: "Carolina only sustained one injury on Wednesday, according to Canales. That was receiver Xavier Legette, who got “rolled up on” during an 11-on-11 rep. Canales said the third-year receiver will probably be available for Friday night’s regular-season game; he was held out of the end of team drills as a precaution." (source: Alex Zietlow)

Patriots

vs. Eagles in joint practice today

  • Drake Maye: "Only four of Maye’s passes hit the ground during competitive drills, which was especially impressive given how often he pushed the ball downfield." (source: Taylor Kyles)
  • DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams: "DeMario Douglas and Kyle Williams proved to be tough covers during 1-on-1s to start practice. Douglas went 3-3 against Cooper DeJean, highlighted by a corner where he had DeJean going the opposite direction at the top of the route. Williams went 3-3 against Kelee Ringo, with his best rep coming on a curl where he stacked Ringo before separating again while coming downhill." (source: Taylor Kyles)

Saints

vs. Cowboys in joint practice yesterday

  • Alvin Kamara: "Alvin Kamara avoided a major knee injury. Didn’t tear anything. Will be out for a few weeks, per source" (source: Nick Underhill)
  • Chris Olave: "Tyler Shough was efficient and moved the ball well, particularly when targeting Chris Olave. The Cowboys had no answer for the Saints' star WR, and that connection is all the more important now that we know the team will have to, at the very least, play the first portion of the season without Tyson." (source: Jeff Nowak)
  • Travis Etienne: "Kamara's injury probably means a heavier workload for Travis Etienne early on and opens the door for someone on the roster to step into a larger role as the backup. Audric Estime was the leading candidate until a recent ankle injury. Kendre Miller and Devin Neal are next men up." (source: Jeff Duncan)
  • Tyler Shough: "While Olave was the star of the show, Shough was on the money no matter who he threw the ball to. Shough completed 18 (or 19, on the debatable Olave catch) of his 23 passes. He threw one interception in the middle of the field when he appeared to get fooled by the Dallas zone, but outside of that he was nearly perfect." (source: Luke Johnson)
  • Bryce Lance: "Rookie wideout Bryce Lance put together another strong practice, catching three of his four targets from Shough — one of which was an explosive play when Lance beat his man on a double move to catch a hole shot down the right sideline." (source: Luke Johnson)

Steelers

Did not practice today: Michael Pittman Jr., DK Metcalf

  • DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr.: "DK Metcalf said he's 'fine' with an injury that has kept him out the last week and a half. No long-term concern for Week 1. Injury still undisclosed. Michael Pittman Jr. has a minor hamstring injury that has held him out for a week and a half, but no concern for Week 1." (source: Nick Farabaugh)
  • Roman Wilson: "Mike McCarthy thinks Roman Wilson has not only done a good job in the slot, but has showcased he can play on the outside. McCarthy noted multiple explosive plays Wilson has produced from the outside during the spring and summer as reason to believe he can do both." (source: Nick Farabaugh)
  • "Second-year signal-caller Will Howard will start against the New York Jets, while 2026 fourth-round pick Drew Allar will follow. Neither Aaron Rodgers nor Mason Rudolph will play in the second preseason game." (source: Brooke Pryor)

Texans

  • Jayden Higgins: "Texans WR Jayden Higgins suffered a torn ACL yesterday during the joint practice against the Raiders" (source: Ian Rapoport)
  • Jaylin Noel: "While he mainly operates out of the slot, Jaylin Noel has gotten a significant bump with Higgins sidelined, per Dwain McFarland. He's handled the starting slot duties in camp, but has the traits to play outside as the Z receiver opposite Collins. There will be a three-way battle for playing time between Noel, Dell and Xavier Hutchinson, but Dwain's initial read is that we'll see a three-way rotation with Noel getting the slight overall edge in playing time thanks to an already established slot role. His route participation has been bumped up to 65%." (source: Joe Metz)
  • "The Texans will NOT play their starters against the Raiders. DeMeco Ryans feels the Tuesday’s practice was plenty enough work per a team spokesperson." (source: DJ Bien-Aime)

Titans

Did not practice today: Carnell Tate, Nick Singleton

  • Tony Pollard: "Running back Tony Pollard returned to practice on Wednesday after missing a few days." (source: Jim Wyatt)
  • Carnell Tate: "Receiver Carnell Tate did not practice, but coach Robert Saleh said it was not related to the hit he took (from Winston) in Monday's session. "He woke up feeling some stiffness, hopefully we get him back on Friday," Saleh said. "Nothing to be concerned about."" (source: Jim Wyatt)
  • Wan'Dale Robinson: "Wan'Dale Robinson had a practice-high eight catches on Wednesday, and he now has a team-high 48 catches so far in training camp. I've said this before: Robinson is going to catch a lot of passes this season." (source: Jim Wyatt)

Vikings

vs. Ravens in joint practice today

  • J.J. McCarthy: "McCarthy took all of the second-team reps. His performance was up and down. He sailed a pass to his left. Multiple hitches on another snap ended in the pass getting deflected at the line of scrimmage. He completed several other balls to Price, but few targeted the middle of the field." (source: Alec Lewis)
  • Jordan Mason: "Running back Jordan Mason continues to stand out. Even on a day when there was little running room, Mason slashed through pockets with burst. He and veteran Aaron Jones split carries for the most part. But Mason’s progression — in a run system that mirrors what he grew accustomed to in San Francisco — has earned the staff’s acknowledgment." (source: Alec Lewis)
  • Demond Claiborne: "Rookie running back Demond Claiborne showcased his explosiveness and vision Wednesday with a between-the-tackles run. He hop-stepped past defenders, evoking the juice the Vikings coveted when they drafted him in the sixth round. At the end of the run, however, the ball squirted out of his hands. Ball security warrants a mention, considering Claiborne fumbled five times in 179 attempts last season at Wake Forest. His teammates and coaches have raved about his potential, but the reliability and consistency must improve for the team to involve him once the season begins." (source: Alec Lewis)

Extras/Observation/Conjecture

  • Tetairoa McMillan reportedly had a nice day vs. Jags at camp, was lined up in a variety of ways. (source)
  • “I thought Bhayshul Tuten had his best practice of the summer, and probably of his Jaguars career thus far.” (source: John Shipley)
  • Lane Johnson asked about Saquon Barkley’s productive day: “We'll see the Saquon of two years ago. We'll see the big plays. We’ll see him flexed out at receiver. We’ll see him in the screen game. You saw a bit of it today.” (source)
  • “Quarterback Cam Ward had another solid day and continued his momentum heading into the joint practices with the Seahawks. Ward completed 21-of-31 passes.” (source: Jim Wyatt)
  • Drake Maye was 21/25, AJ Brown had 7 catches on 8 targets at joint practice vs Eagles, AJ Brown according to multiple Eagles reporters looked really good and back to his old self
  • Jets practiced today but there wasn't much to note other than I saw Connor Hughes say that Geno Smith over the last few weeks has been more passive than he expected, not giving his receivers chances to make plays down the field. He’s been doing a ton of checkdowns.

Player Updates and News (8/18)

I’ve been keeping track of fantasy relevant news and updates from beat writers, national reporters, and fantasy analysts. Here's a recap of any quote or update that stood out to me today.

I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person. Let me know if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I’ve also been asking beat writers fantasy relevant questions through their mailbags whenever possible.

If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @DanChincharFF

49ers

Did not practice: Christian McCaffrey (tightness), Christian Kirk (calf), Jordan James (ribs), Kyle Juszczyk (broken finger)

  • Demarcus Robinson: "Demarcus Robinson was back after missing Sunday’s session, although he didn’t look like he was playing full speed. Purdy seemed to have him on a deep throw down the middle of the field, but Robinson appeared dead-legged as the ball sailed beyond him." (source: Matt Barrows)
  • Christian McCaffrey: “49ers coach Kyle Shanahan says speculation about RB Christian McCaffrey being out for contract-related reasons ‘would be wrong.’ Shanahan says McCaffrey is coming along well and if today’s practice had been a normal game week (not a joint session), CMC would have participated.” (source: Nick Wagoner)
  • Mike Evans: "Wide receiver Mike Evans watched the end of practice after aggravating a quadriceps issue which kept him out last week. “Some tightness, so we were being smart taking him out. I don’t think it’s anything worse,” Shanahan said. “It’s nothing I’m worried about right now.”" (source: Cam Inman)
  • Kaelon Black: "Black is expected to debut in a 49ers’ jersey (No. 26) in Thursday night’s preseason game against the Chargers at SoFi Stadium." (source: Cam Inman)
  • Kaelon Black: "Kaelon Black with a couple of big runs early. He doesn’t look like someone who’s missed the last couple of weeks." (source: Matt Barrows)
  • Brock Purdy: "Shanahan said the plan is for some of the starters to play and indicated that QB Brock Purdy would likely be one of those who do. Doubt it will be for long but could get a look at Purdy on Thursday night." (source: Nick Wagoner)

Bears

Did not practice: Tyson Bagent (hamstring), Kyle Monangai (knee), Luther Burden III (groin)

  • Tyson Bagent: "Tyson Bagent suffered a hamstring injury in the game against the Browns. He is not practicing today and his status for Saturday’s game is in doubt." (source: Mark Carman)
  • Rome Odunze: Bears OC Press Taylor on Rome Odunze: “‘You see the contested catch ability that he has,’ Taylor said. ‘I think we've increased giving him those opportunities as well. We've made it a point of emphasis to try to push the ball down the field on some contested go balls because that's obviously a strength of his. That's something we didn't feature much as a coaching staff last year. To add to our offense and what we can do and experiment with certain things, we've given him some of those opportunities. He's made his fair share of plays on those, so that's encouraging.’” (source: Nicholas Moreano)
  • Kyle Monangai: "Bears coach Ben Johnson says RB Kyle Monangai will be week-to-week with his right knee injury." (source: Brad Biggs)
  • D'Andre Swift: "D’Andre Swift’s strong camp continues. He looked quick and decisive, showed good vision and finished runs with some physicality." (source: Clay Harbor)

Bills

Did not practice: Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Skyler Bell, Ty Johnson

Limited: DJ Moore

  • DJ Moore: "DJ Moore took part in individual position work, but did not take any reps with the offense against the defense." (source: Sal Capaccio)
  • Keon Coleman: "Keon Coleman was wearing a walking boot on his right foot Tuesday morning as the team held an open practice inside Highmark Stadium. The team did not disclose the specific injury for Coleman, who was one of several players who did not suit up and participate in the session." (source: Sal Capaccio)

Broncos

  • Bo Nix: "Bo looks 100% healthy. Emphasis during team periods to get him on the move (read options, move the pocket, off platform)" (source: Ben DiNucci)

Browns

Did not practice: Cedric Tillman (undisclosed)

Buccaneers

Did not practice: Cade Otton (undisclosed), Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson

  • Jalen McMillan: "There was finally some good injury news on the wide receiver front for the Bucs Tuesday morning, with Jalen McMillan (leg) returning to practice for the first time in just over two weeks. The third-year pro had been out of action since Aug. 3 ... McMillan got his work in during the individual drills early in practice, then took some extra reps during one of the special teams periods, running routes and catching passes from his quarterbacks." (source: Bailey Adams)
  • Kenny Gainwell: “Baker Mayfield on Kenny Gainwell: ‘He is much more than a gadget guy. I have just been completely overwhelmed with the amount of talent that he has. I did not know until a little later in the spring more towards minicamp that he was a receiver going into college and was a slot receiver at Memphis. That explains why he is so smooth running routes. Then, just him in the run game, he stays true to his tracks and reads his blocks very well.’” (source: Brianna Dix)
  • Cade Otton: "Bucs tight end Cade Otton is again not practicing today with an undisclosed injury. Would think he’s not playing Saturday but we’ll see." (source: Greg Auman)

Cardinals

Did not practice: Jeremiyah Love (ankle), Carson Beck (ribs)

  • Trey Benson: "Trey Benson was back at practice yesterday but Mike LaFleur said he’s not yet ready to return to 11 on 11 drills. Benson has 12 days left before cut day to stake his claim to a roster spot." (source: Theo Mackie)

Chargers

Did not practice: Tre Harris

  • Quentin Johnston: “Chargers WR Quentin Johnston is not expected to miss much, if any, practice time. He is, in the words of a source, ‘totally fine.’” (source: Adam Schefter)
  • Ladd McConkey: "McConkey was consistently open throughout practice and caught multiple touchdowns, including one through a hold by Jack Jones during a red-zone period." (source: Kris Rhim)
  • Justin Herbert: "Overall: I watched the offense today. It was perhaps the best the unit has looked this offseason, with Justin Herbert picking apart the 49ers secondary and generating explosive plays throughout practice. The offensive line was strong in the run game but inconsistent in pass protection." (source: Kris Rhim)
  • "Chargers Coach Jim Harbaugh said that starters will play a series Thursday against the 49ers." (source: Steve Wyche)

Chiefs

  • Tyquan Thornton: "During practice, second-year WR Tyquan Thornton left in the front of the cart. It was unclear what happened to him then. After practice, Chiefs PR told reporters that he suffered a hamstring injury." (source: Charles Goldman)

Colts

  • Keenan Allen: Free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen and the Indianapolis Colts agreed Monday night to a one-year deal worth up to $8.32 million (source: James Boyd)
  • Keenan Allen: "The 34-year old WR saw his playing time reduced over the course of last season, but his TPRR remained robust at 25%. He projects as the Colts WR3 and should play when they are in 11 personnel. There is a chance he rotates in 2-WR sets with Downs. I have Allen playing 58% of pass plays." (source: Dwain McFarland)

Commanders

Cowboys

Did not practice: Michael Trigg (toe), Jaydon Blue (shoulder)

Dolphins

  • Chris Bell, Kevin Coleman Jr.: "Chris Bell was in a red, non-contact jersey again for his second practice since being activated off the non-football injury list, and he was in on a snap in the team setting. Fellow rookie wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. is also progressing." (source: David Furones)
  • Chris Bell: "Hafley doesn't foresee Bell practicing or playing against the Giants this week" (source: Marcel Louis-Jacques)

Giants

  • Najee Harris: "Giants officially signed RB Najee Harris and released WR JuJu Smith-Schuster." (source: Adam Schefter)
  • Malachi Fields: "Malachi Fields is working pretty consistently with Jaxson Dart. That starting job opposite Malik Nabers might be his to lose." (source: Connor Hughes)
  • Tyrone Tracy, Najee Harris: "The workout with Najee Harris was set up last week. Had nothing to do with Tyrone Tracy's missed block. Of note, Tyrone Tracy Jr. was the first running back up today at practice. He's squarely still in the plans. Najee Harris only did individual drills and will need a couple weeks to get in football shape. But there is now serious competition in the running back room." (source: Jordan Raanan)
  • Malik Nabers: "Malik Nabers back out there for a second straight day running full-speed live drills. A slightly increased workload with a lot of passes thrown in his direction. Thought he actually looked better running routes than yesterday." (source: Jordan Raanan)

Jaguars

Did not practice: Parker Washington (undisclosed), LeQuint Allen Jr. (soft tissue)

  • Parker Washington, LeQuint Allen: "Jaguars announce WR Parker Washington is day to day with undisclosed injury but is expected to return next week. RB LeQuint Allen suffered a soft tissue injury on Monday and will not return in training camp." (source: Michael DiRocco)
  • Travis Hunter: "Jaguars CB/WR Travis Hunter 11-on-11 snap tracker Day 15 snaps: 21 (19 defense, 2 offense) Total snaps: 199 (135 defense, 63 offense, 1 special teams) (not including Saints joint practice)" (source: Michael DiRocco)
  • Travis Hunter, Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington: "As expected, Hunter is being used in some packages as the third receiver. Washington and Meyers have been getting the most snaps of the receivers in camp -- even though Thomas was arguably the best player on the field in the spring and has had a great camp, showing some of the toughness and ball security that seemed to be missing last season. Coen likes using 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends and two receivers), and the Jaguars are reluctant to put Washington on the sideline. When the Jaguars use 11 personnel (one back, one tight end and three receivers), Hunter and Thomas have shared reps." (source: Michael DiRocco)
  • Travis Hunter: "Finally, the Travis Hunter question—where will he play? He’s majored on defense this year, the way he majored on offense last spring and summer. The belief is that he can be a special player at the position, with his length, ball skills, instincts and everything else. The Jags also know it’d be easier to have Hunter operate as a defensive player chiefly (meetings, drills, practice, etc.) and moonlight as a package player on offense than vice versa; that was his routine at Colorado." (source: Albert Breer)
  • Brian Thomas Jr.: "With no Parker Washington on the field for the first time in training camp, the No. 1 target for Trevor Lawrence on Tuesday was pretty easily Brian Thomas Jr. The third-year wide receiver did have one drop on the day but otherwise he had an efficient and productive practice, hauling in multiple passes from Lawrence at all levels of the field." (source: John Shipley)
  • Chris Rodriguez: "The Jaguars put an emphasis on the running game on Tuesday, and there was probably the heaviest dose of Chris Rodriguez Jr. that we have seen yet. It is clear that he is all systems go for Week 1 and beyond." (source: John Shipley)

Jets

Did not practice: Breece Hall (groin), Isaiah Davis (knee)

  • Garrett Wilson: Garrett Wilson returned to practice today (source: Zack Rosenblatt)
  • Breece Hall: “New York Jets running back Breece Hall will miss the remainder of the preseason with a strained groin, but he's expected to be back for Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. Hall, who went down untouched Monday while running after a catch, will miss two to three weeks, according to coach Aaron Glenn, who was able to exhale after receiving the MRI results on Monday night. ‘Knowing how important he is for what we're doing, it was really exciting to hear,’ Glenn told reporters Tuesday, saying Hall will be ‘ready for the regular season.’” (source: Rich Cimini)
  • Omar Cooper: "Cooper didn't make any big catches during team drills, but he was unguardable in one-on-ones. Going up against Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Cooper made the veteran corner look foolish for long completions on several different throws. It was the kind of day that should build confidence in the rookie wideout after seeing his spot somewhat taken away by Isaiah Williams over the last week. Cooper will have a role in this offense, and the focus right now is building that confidence." (source: Nick Faria)
  • Geno Smith: "It doesn't look like there are any limitations to Smith's game two practices removed from an ankle injury that kept him out of last week's preseason opener against Tampa. The Jets' starting quarterback was accurate and threw with really strong anticipation throughout the morning. ... Smith has had a pretty solid camp, but Tuesday was one of his better days. His chemistry continues to grow with New York's receivers." (source: Nick Faria)
  • Kenyon Sadiq: "Aaron Glenn said Kenyon Sadiq and D’Angelo Ponds are getting closer and ultimately they’re just focused on getting them back for Week 1." (source: Zack Rosenblatt)

Packers

  • Josh Jacobs: Josh Jacobs (groin) returned to practice for the first time since August 6th (source: Rob Demovsky)
  • Matthew Golden: "Matthew Golden’s dominant day at training camp has been building. Without Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks, it has always been clear that he’d be a focal point of the passing game. Just about every day at camp has been a productive day. But none more than Monday, when Jordan Love went to him early and often." (source: Bill Huber)
  • Tucker Kraft: "Second day, Tucker Kraft makes perhaps the catch of camp. Stabs at Jordan Love’s pass down the right seam and catches it one handed over Keisean Nixon about 15 yards downfield. Keeps trucking for a 46-yard touchdown." (source: Ryan Wood)
  • "Matt LaFleur said the plan is to play Jordan Love and the starters a bit again this week at Denver and then have them work in the joint practice vs. Arizona the following week but likely not play in the preseason finale vs. the Cardinals." (source: Rob Demovsky)

Patriots

  • Rhamondre Stevenson: "The best in camp is the same guy who was their best back last season: Rhamondre Stevenson. One of the best guys in the league after contact, a reliable receiver and excellent in pass pro. I think it's more like 60/40 in his favor, until Henderson shows he's not a speed bump in blitz pick-up." (source: Mike Giardi)
  • Eli Raridon: "Third-round rookie Eli Raridon secured both targets he saw in 11-on-11s, his first a long play-action throw out of a heavy personnel grouping. Raridon's connection with Maye has improved drastically over the last couple of weeks, even as he splits time between the first- and second-team offenses." (source: Andrew Callahan)
  • Romeo Doubs: "Romeo Doubs is ready for more. The big-ticket free agent is now seeing a volume of targets during 11-on-11s, as well as passes in high-leverage situations: the red zone and two-minute drills. All of this points to increasing chemistry with Maye, a necessity if Doubs is to seize on the opportunities granted to him if/when A.J. Brown commands extra attention." (source: Andrew Callahan)

Raiders

  • Fernando Mendoza: “Mendoza got extensive reps with the Raiders’ first team against the Houston Texans’ starting defense during the teams’ joint practice. It was the first time the rookie quarterback has worked with the starters in a session that Kirk Cousins also participated in. Head coach Klint Kubiak said it was the team’s ‘plan all along’ to work Mendoza with the ones during the session, and was pleased with the experience he got.” (source: Sam Warren)

Rams

  • Terrance Ferguson: "The tight ends should be a committee in their own right, with increased use of three-tight end sets now that it’s a full-season approach rather than a midseason shift. But I believe Terrance Ferguson will emerge from that group as the player worthy of an every-week, game-planned role. The best version of this offense will have Ferguson leading the tight ends in catches and yards, and finishing third on the team in both categories behind Adams and Nacua." (source: Nate Atkins)

Saints

  • Bryce Lance: "Lance is WR2 today" (source: Nick Underhill)
  • "With first-round pick Jordyn Tyson sidelined due to a hamstring injury, the Saints tried out veteran WRs Chase Claypool and Josh Reynolds." (source: Adam Schefter)

Seahawks

  • Jadarian Price: "Jadarian Price in full pads stacking consecutive days of practice after missing five straight full practices with upper-leg soreness is a very good Seahawks trend. The first-round pick is back on track to be RB1 in the Super Bowl champions’ opener in 3 weeks." (source: Gregg Bell)

Steelers

  • Roman Wilson, Germie Bernard: "Elsewhere on offense, the depth at the skill spots has grown. Roman Wilson, who is in his third year, has shown the versatility to play all three receiver spots, which is a big deal in McCarthy’s offense, and he’s running routes with confidence, burst and an ability to separate. With DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. dealing with injuries, Wilson has had a shot to show what he can do. And rookie second-rounder Germie Bernard would be the fourth guy behind those three if the season started today; as an intermediate receiver with physicality and strength, he’s sharp enough to win on option routes. Most importantly, Wilson has earned Rodgers’s trust and Bernard is getting there." (source: Albert Breer)

Texans

Did not practice: Tank Dell

  • Jayden Higgins: "Higgins suffered a leg injury midway through team drills. He tumbled in the back of the end zone, and grabbed at his leg. It’s unclear whether contact was involved. ... A cart came out to transport him, but Higgins got up on his own power. Ryans did not have an immediate update after practice, only calling it a leg injury. He said they will continue to evaluate his status." (source: Jonathan M. Alexander)
  • David Montgomery, Lewis Bond: "There were three standouts who stood above the others Tuesday: David Montgomery, Lewis Bond and the Texans edge rushers. Montgomery had multiple explosive runs Tuesday, and played with a physicality the Raiders couldn’t keep up with. Bond, the Texans' sixth-round rookie, played mostly with the second-team offense, and picked the Raiders’ second team apart. He had two touchdowns inside the red zone. He's made plays throughout camp. And it's hard to imagine him not making a contribution this season." (source: Jonathan M. Alexander)
  • Tank Dell, Jaylin Noel: "Texans receiver Tank Dell did not participate in practice. This was his second consecutive practice he missed. Meanwhile, fellow wideout Jaylin Noel, who is dealing with a hamstring injury and a broken finger, returned to practice after missing the past two weeks." (source: Jonathan M. Alexander)

Player Updates and News (8/17)

I’ve been keeping track of fantasy relevant news and updates from beat writers, national reporters, and fantasy analysts. Here's a recap of any quote or update that stood out to me today.

I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person. Let me know if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I’ve also been asking beat writers fantasy relevant questions through their mailbags whenever possible.

If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @DanChincharFF

Note: Every update has the writer's name with a source link that will direct you to the website where I read the quote. If you only see a writer's name, that will be for something I specifically read on Twitter/X.

Bears

  • Kyle Monangai: "Bears RB Kyle Monangai suffered a hyperextended knee. Expected to miss multiple weeks but per the MRI the outcome is considered positive after a recent practice injury." (source: Jeremy Fowler)

Bills

  • Dalton Kincaid: "Dalton Kincaid added noticeable muscle mass to his upper and lower body this offseason. Kincaid is hoping the additional muscle will help him stay healthy, but it has other benefits as well. On the Bills’ second drive, Kincaid stayed in as a blocker and did a great job in a one-on-one situation. Josh Allen was able to find Khalil Shakir for a 20-yard gain on the play. If Kincaid continues to show well as a blocker, his snap count will increase." (source: Matt Parino, Ryan Talbot)

Broncos

  • Jaylen Waddle, Marvin Mims: "Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle return to practice Monday and worked in team drills. Wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. also returned to practice but worked on a side field after individual drills." (source: Zac Stevens)
  • Jaylen Waddle: "Not only did Waddle participate in practice, he made a huge leap as he participated in the team portion of practice. He was wearing a white sleeve over nearly the entirety of his left leg, but did not appear to be limited in any way" (source: Zac Stevens)
  • Jonah Coleman: “Rookie running back Jonah Coleman continues to work his way up the depth chart toward a spot in the regular-season rotation, so much so that coach Sean Payton gave Coleman a fairly quick hook from the preseason opener. ... Payton said he's seen enough from Coleman on the practice field to get the rookie out of the preseason opener that early. ‘I kind of felt it ... and there was a point when he got like two or three carries and I'm like “alright, I've seen enough,”’ Payton said. ‘I didn't need additional evidence of what I've been seeing for three weeks.’” (source: Jeff Legwold)

Browns

  • Shedeur Sanders: "Shedeur Sanders is slated to start at quarterback in the Browns' second preseason game against the Bills on Saturday, but he could be playing without Cleveland's starting offense. Coach Todd Monken said he and Bills coach Joe Brady agreed to hold out starters if their No. 1 units get enough work in during joint practices on Thursday." (source: Daniel Oyefusi)
  • KC Concepcion: Browns HC Todd Monken on KC Concepcion: “From what we saw when we drafted him and then getting him here, I hope we’re trying to get him the ball as often as we can,” Monken said Monday on Day 14 of Browns training camp. “That dude is explosive. He’s tough. He’s got great contact balance. He understands situational football.” (source: Mary Kay Cabot)

Buccaneers

  • Emeka Egbuka: "Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said Monday that wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, the Bucs' first-round draft pick in 2025, is "day-to-day, week-to-week" with a toe sprain suffered during joint practices at the New York Jets last week. Bowles added that he's "not sure at this time" if the situation will impact Egbuka's availability for Week 1." (source: Jenna Laine)

Chargers

Did not practice: Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris, David Njoku

  • Tre Harris: "Chargers rested Tre Harris with Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey meaning he is the clear WR3. I'm now not expecting a Keenan Allen return." (source: Chris Wecht)

Chiefs

  • Emmett Johnson: "When the 9-on-7 run period began during Monday’s practice, Johnson was the second running back to get work behind Kenneth Walker. That was a positive sign. During individual work, he was still the No. 3 RB in the rotation behind Emari Demercado. During 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 team drills, he saw some opportunities directly after Walker. However, it was mostly a three-headed rotation of Johnson, Smith, and Demercado coming in after Walker." (source: Charles Goldman)

Colts

Did not practice: D.J. Giddens (hamstring)

  • Anthony Richardson: "The future of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. remains unclear, but signs continue to point to him remaining with his current team. Assistant general manager Ed Dodds suggested Sunday that Richardson will remain in Indianapolis because the Colts intend to prioritize quarterback depth." (source: Stephen Holder)
  • Deion Burks: "Rookie wide receiver Deion Burks had a brutal dropped sweep exchange to kick things off, and while he didn't have a big-time reception to suggest that he's climbing the depth chart, his usage on the day was noteworthy. Burks was used as a jet sweeper on numerous occasions, and even had some brief run with the starters as a motion man." (source: Noah Compton)
  • "It sounds like a few more Colts starters will play in the preseason finale against Detroit (August 29th) versus the second preseason game against Atlanta (August 22nd). A reason for that is the Colts do have two joint practices this week, prior to the Atlanta game, whereas they won’t have any prior to the Detroit game." (source: Kevin Bowen)

Commanders

  • Jeremy McNichols: "RB Jeremy McNichols' quad injury to keep him sidelined a few weeks, Dan Quinn said." (source: Ben Standig)

Cowboys

Did not practice: Michael Trigg (toe)

Limited: Phil Mafah (ribs), Israel Abanikanda (ribs), Jaydon Blue (shoulder)

  • Camden Brown: "Brown finished with three catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday. Both scores were diving, acrobatic catches in the end zone, including a one-handed catch on a fade route. Brown made similar plays during the two training camp practices I watched the Cowboys in Oxnard and has been one of the most talked-about players in the team's camp." (source: Eric Williams)

Dolphins

  • Chris Bell: "WR Chris Bell RETURNED to practice albeit in a limited fashion. He had on the red jersey and caught passes from QB Malik Willis" (source: C. Isaiah Smalls II)
  • Caleb Douglas: "WR Caleb Douglas left practice early but returned by the end. He didn't go back in" (source: C. Isaiah Smalls II)

Eagles

Did not practice: Tank Bigsby (toe), Grant Calcaterra (back), Makai Lemon (hamstring), Dameon Pierce (hamstring), Johnny Wilson (knee)

  • DeVonta Smith: DeVonta Smith (hamstring) returned to practice today in limited capacity (source: Zach Berman)
  • Makai Lemon: "Safe to say Makai Lemon’s return is getting close. He’s going through some drills with the WRs at the end of practice right now and was doing sprints on the far field during practice." (source: EJ Smith)
  • Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby: "Barkley tweaked an ankle last week and didn’t warm up with the other starters ahead of the Ravens game. He was back in uniform, though, and took a few handoffs. Barkley hasn’t been kept in bubble wrap, but the Eagles have also been careful with their No. 1 running back. Bigsby will be the No. 2, but the guess here is that those expecting significantly more carries this season will be disappointed. Barkley will be the workhorse again." (source: Jeff McLane)

Falcons

  • Tua Tagovailoa: "It’s getting close to the point where the Falcons may have to start the season with Tua Tagovailoa as their quarterback. The seventh-year pro wasn’t great on Friday night. That much was obvious. He went 3-of-5 for 22 yards, and the offense had just one first down over the two series he was out there. But it’s my understanding that wasn’t indicative of his summer, which has been solid in his first year playing for Kevin Stefanski." (source: Albert Breer)
  • Tua Tagovailoa: "In the long term, well, the fact is the Falcons—and the rest of the NFL—already have an idea what Tagovailoa is, and in Atlanta that’s probably a stopgap to whoever winds up being the quarterback that Stefanski, Ian Cunningham and Matt Ryan build around." (source: Albert Breer)

Giants

  • Najee Harris: "Free-agent RB Najee Harris is visiting today with the New York Giants." (source: Adam Schefter)
  • Najee Harris: "Najee Harris still here at Giants camp so wouldn’t be surprised if he signs once medicals check out." (source: Art Stapleton)
  • Malik Nabers: "Malik Nabers took reps in live 11-on-11 drills while wearing red jersey usually reserved for QBs. Also caught 3 passes in 7-on-7 drills. First time in full-speed live drills since tearing knee." (source: Jordan Raanan)

Jaguars

  • Travis Hunter: "Jaguars CB/WR Travis Hunter 11-on-11 snap tracker. Day 14 snaps: 21 (20 defense, 0 offense, 1 ST). Total snaps: 178 (116 defense, 61 offense, 1 ST) (not including Saints joint practice)" (source: Michael DiRocco)

Jets

Did not practice: Garrett Wilson, Isaiah Davis

  • Breece Hall: "Big break for the Jets on Hall, who went down with a non-contact injury. All indications are he’ll be good for Week 1. Again, though: Jets won’t push it and will be cautious." (source: Connor Hughes)
  • Garrett Wilson, Geno Smith: "It was a rough way to end practice. RB Breece Hall was in the locker room, nursing a groin injury from earlier in practice. WR Garrett Wilson was nowhere to be found; he showed up sick in the morning, vomiting, and was held out. QB Geno Smith was on the field, taking his full share of reps, but he was favoring his left ankle -- an injury that occurred Wednesday and kept him out of the preseason opener Friday." (source: Rich Cimini)

Lions

  • Jameson Williams: "Jameson Williams is dealing with a shoulder injury but Dan Campbell doesn’t feel it’s anything serious. He missed yesterday’s practice and will likely miss today." (source: Eric Woodyard)

Packers

  • I missed this quote from Tucker Kraft yesterday: "Like I've said since the beginning of training camp, they have a plan for me," Kraft said. "Week by week, they're gonna gradually increase my snap count depending on the full rep range of practice. So my job is just (to be) out there and answer when my number's called." (source: Wes Hodkiewicz)

Panthers

  • Darren Waller: "According to coach Dave Canales, Waller isn't likely to mix it up with the Jaguars in joint practices on Wednesday in Jacksonville. But the veteran playmaker might be able to suit up in his newly issued No. 35 jersey and get some individual work with starting quarterback Bryce Young." (source: Mike Kaye)

Patriots

  • Kyle Williams: "Even though Williams has had a pretty quiet training camp, he’s going to have a role in the offense." (source: Chad Graff)
  • TreVeyon Henderson, Rhamondre Stevenson: "As TreVeyon Henderson enters his second season, it looks like he’ll share the backfield with Rhamondre Stevenson pretty evenly. The Patriots want to take advantage of Henderson’s big-play ability, but they believe in Stevenson a bit more to get what is blocked in front of him. So the guess is that Stevenson will be in for short-yardage situations and early downs, and that Henderson may check in for second- and third-and-long situations as long as his pass blocking holds up." (source: Chad Graff)
  • Kayshon Boutte: "After a great start to camp, the veteran receiver has cooled off a bit, and he didn’t see any targets in the preseason opener. The bigger issue? If the Patriots want DeMario Douglas as their slot receiver while insisting that Mack Hollins and Williams will have real roles offensively, it becomes difficult to see where or how Boutte fits in." (source: Chad Graff)

Raiders

  • Brock Bowers: "Tight end Brock Bowers returned after missing Sunday's practice because of personal reasons. Bowers caught two of quarterback Kirk Cousins' five touchdowns in the red zone." (source: Ryan McFadden)
  • Dont'e Thornton Jr.: "Dont'e Thornton Jr. stretched and did agility work at the beginning of practice for the second straight day. He did not participate in individual or team drills, as he is working his way back from an injury." (source: Ryan McFadden)

Rams

  • Puka Nacua: “McVay last week said Garrett has been dealing with a little swelling in his knee, while Nacua has been dealing with soreness in his psoas since leaving last Tuesday's joint practice with the Cowboys early. Both are expected to return to practice next week as both are ‘taking it a day at a time.’ ‘Puka is doing good, whether or not we wait for next week or not, we're just kind of taking it a day at a time,’ McVay said." (source: Zach Edwards)

Saints

  • Jordyn Tyson: "Jordyn Tyson is expected to miss about two months with a hamstring injury suffered last week, sources tell me and @RapSheet. The eighth overall pick sought multiple medical opinions on an injury HC Kellen Moore said is separate from the one he had in the spring." (source: Mike Garafolo)
  • Jordyn Tyson: "Jordyn Tyson is likely to miss time to start the season, possibly deep into September, per source. Different hamstring than last time but it’s going to take time." (source: Nick Underhill)

Seahawks

  • Tory Horton: “Tory Horton did not practice today, as Macdonald said he's ‘dealing with a few things.’" (source: Corbin K. Smith)
  • Jadarian Price: "Coach Mike Macdonald happy to have top rookie RB Jadarian Price back at practice today off upper-leg soreness. He was in the Seahawks’ starting offense. That’s the role he’s moving into toward the opener." (source: Gregg Bell)

Texans

Did not practice: Tank Dell, Jaylin Noel (pinkie finger, hamstring), Jawhar Jordan (strained hip flexor)

Titans

Did not practice: Tony Pollard, Nick Singleton, Kalel Mullings

  • Cam Ward: "I wouldn’t read too much into Cam Ward’s shaky preseason debut. Titans OC Brian Daboll generally wants to challenge his quarterbacks in different ways. My guess is the offense he’s building for Ward will look a little different in Week 1 than it does in preseason games." (source: Albert Breer)
  • Cam Ward: "It was another effective day for Ward, who completed 22-of-28 in the practice, including 19-of-25 in team periods. Ward is now 43-of-53 in the two practices since the 49ers game. Ward threw a bullet to Tate midway through practice, and he found receiver Elic Ayomanor sprinting away from him on another nice completion." (source: Jim Wyatt)
  • Carnell Tate: "A crash collision between three guys, and Tate got the worst of it. But he held on to the football for a first down and a big gain. Tate walked his way off the field and stood next to trainers for the remainder of the drive. However, once the offensive starters came off the field, Tate rejoined his fellow receivers Calvin Ridley and Wan’Dale Robinson without any trainer nearby. Head coach Robert Saleh said after practice that he’s not concerned." (source: Austin Stanley, Easton Freeze)
  • Tony Pollard, Nick Singleton: “‘Just minor aches and bruises,’ Saleh said Saturday. ‘Tony (Pollard) didn’t practice (Saturday), just dealing with a sore foot. Hopefully, we’ll get him back Monday. Same thing with Nick Singleton.’” (source: Austin Stanley, Easton Freeze)

My Thoughts/Other things I have read

  • I’ve seen some positive buzz for Colts RB Ulysses Bentley IV from their reporters. One of their reporters has him currently projected for the final 53 over DJ Giddens. Giddens is still out with a hamstring injury, hopefully he can come back soon to try to keep his roster spot
  • Bears RB3 behind Kyle Monangai has been Roschon Johnson
  • Rashawn Slater has missed his 7th straight practice for the Chargers

If you see an italicized link, that will be specifically for something on Twitter/X.

Player Updates and News (8/16)

I’ve been keeping track of fantasy relevant news and updates from beat writers, national reporters, and fantasy analysts. Here's a recap of any quote or update that stood out to me today. If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @DanChincharFF

I want to highlight a few preseason recap sites that covered a lot of ground from yesterday's games:

NFL Preseason Week 1 Fantasy Football Takeaways by Hayden Winks

NFL Preseason Week 1 Recap by Nathan Jahnke

Note: Every update has the writer's name with a source link that will direct you to the website where I read the quote. If you see an italicized link, that will be specifically for something on Twitter/X.

Baltimore Ravens

Did not play: Zay Flowers (quadriceps), Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, Rashod Bateman, Mark Andrews (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Joe Fagnano 22/28 for 224 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 carry for 1 yd
Tyler Huntley 6/7 for 76 yds

Adam Randall 12 carries for 46 yds, 1 TD, 1 catch on 2 targets for 2 yds

Elijah Sarratt 6 catches on 7 targets for 66 yds
Matt Hibner 5 catches on 5 targets for 61 yds
Ja'Kobi Lane 3 catches on 3 targets for 38 yds, 1 TD
Devontez Walker 3 catches on 3 targets for 31 yds

Ravens Updates:

  • Elijah Sarratt: “Sarratt didn’t enter until the fifth drive, suggesting he is unlikely to have a significant role early in the season.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • Elijah Sarratt, Adam Randall: “Elijah Sarratt, who has had struggles in training camp, fumbled in the third quarter. Running back Adam Randall scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter but didn't run decisively. He finished with 46 yards on 12 carries (a 3.8-yard average).” (Jamison Hensley)
  • Ja'Kobi Lane: “The breakout star of training camp opened his preseason account with a tough 18-yard catch on an in-breaker from starter Tyler Huntley, then made himself available to Joe Fagnano for a short first-down catch on third-and-1. But the highlight of the rookie’s 38-yard night was his 16-yard catch on another in-breaker, pulling away from Eagles cornerback Kelee Ringo for a touchdown midway through the second quarter. At this rate, Lane could be playing himself out of snaps in the Ravens’ next two preseason games. Why bother with the injury risk?” (Jonas Shaffer)

Buffalo Bills

Did not play: Ty Johnson (knee), Skyler Bell (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Josh Allen 6/8 for 111 yds, 1 TD

James Cook III 5 carries for 21 yds
Ray Davis 3 carries for 21 yds, 4 catches on 4 targets for 32 yds

DJ Moore 3 catches on 4 targets for 61 yds, long of 32
Khalil Shakir 2 catches on 2 targets for 41 yds
Keon Coleman 3 catches on 4 targets for 17 yds, 1 TD

Bills Updates:

  • DJ Moore: “While Coleman primarily played X in previous seasons, he, Shakir and Palmer all saw notable snaps in the slot. The one constant was Moore lining up at X whenever he was on the field.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • DJ Moore: “DJ Moore's first game with the Bills accomplished what the team was looking for from Josh Allen's new No. 1 receiver. He caught three passes (four targets) for 61 yards on 10 snaps, including a 32-yard catch-and-run where 29 yards came after the catch. Moore did have his right leg looked at by trainers briefly but remained on the sideline.” (Alaina Getzenberg)
  • DJ Moore: “After his third catch, Moore exited the game and was being examined by athletic trainers on the sidelines. That lasted for several minutes before the wideout got up and hung out with his teammates on the sideline. He didn’t play anymore, but he also never went into the medical tent and did not revisit with athletic trainers, which is all a good sign.” (Sal Capaccio)
  • Skyler Bell: “Bills HC Joe Brady said if it were an actual game today he thinks rookie WR Skyler Bell could have played. Indicated Bell is nearing a return from the ‘lower body injury’ sometime this week.” (Joe Buscaglia)

Carolina Panthers

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Kenny Pickett 16/19 for 92 yds, 1 TD, 3 carries for 16 yds
Bryce Young 3/5 for 18 yds

Jonathon Brooks 3 carries for 5 yds, 1 catch on 1 target for 9 yds

AJ Dillon 2 catches on 2 targets for 29 yds
John Metchie III 1 catch on 1 target for 9 yds, 1 TD
Xavier Legette 0 catches on 1 target

Panthers Updates:

  • Jonathan Brooks: “Carolina’s decision to use Brooks on early downs and in short-yardage situations offers a strong indication of how he could be deployed during the regular season. Hubbard has played in all situations throughout his career, so a two-man backfield could push more of his work toward passing downs while Brooks handles the bulk of the rushing opportunities.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • Tetairoa McMillan: “The biggest takeaway was the Panthers began their preseason in a 2-TE set and when they moved to 3-WR sets, then it was Tetairoa McMillan in the slot for 5-of-7 snaps. This is fantastic usage for his skill set, as he looks to become the next Drake London.” (Hayden Winks)

Chicago Bears

Did not play: Caleb Williams, D'Andre Swift, Kyle Monangai, Rome Odunze, Kalif Raymond, Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet, Luther Burden III (groin), Zavion Thomas (knee) (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Tyson Bagent 13/22 for 169 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 carry for 7 yds

Roschon Johnson 8 carries for 34 yds, 1 catch on 2 targets for 3 yds

Kaden Davis 4 catches on 6 targets for 88 yds, long of 41
Sam Roush 2 catches on 3 targets for 15 yds

Bears Updates:

  • Caleb Williams: “Caleb is LIGHT YEARS ahead of where he was this time last year. So much so they actually think they need him to pull back some.” (Jay Glazer)
  • Colston Loveland: “From a usage standpoint, it may be useful to think of Loveland as closer to one of Chicago’s wide receivers, with Kmet operating as the more traditional tight end.” (Nathan Jahnke)

Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals Updates:

  • Chase Brown: “But it was the three outings without Perine when Brown really teed off, averaging 17.6 points per game on 21.6 expected. That upside is exciting, but it looks like we’ll need another Perine injury for Brown to realize it. It’s why we’re behind the market on Brown, ranking him 21st overall vs. an ADP of 14th.” (Jared Smola)

Cleveland Browns

Did not play: Cedric Tillman (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Deshaun Watson 11/15 for 126 yds, 3 carries for 4 yds, 1 fumble lost
Shedeur Sanders 6/11 for 79 yds, 1 INT, 2 carries for 3 yds

Quinshon Judkins 4 carries for 9 yds
Raheim Sanders 2 carries for 9 yds, 2 catches on 2 targets for 7 yds
Dylan Sampson 4 carries for 6 yds, 2 catches on 2 targets for 43 yds, long of 43

KC Concepcion 3 catches on 4 targets for 27 yds, 1 carry for 14 yds, 1 TD
Jerry Jeudy 2 catches on 2 targets for 18 yds
Denzel Boston 1 catch on 2 targets for 15 yds
Isaiah Bond 1 catch on 1 target for 8 yds
Harold Fannin Jr. 0 catches on 1 target

Browns Updates:

  • Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson: “The Browns played two drives with all of their starters before beginning to mix in backups on the third. Judkins played eight snaps, handling 100% of the early-down and short-yardage situations, while Sampson took both third-and-medium or third-and-long snaps. The smaller rotation should lead to a substantial increase in playing time for both backs.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • KC Concepcion: “Concepcion primarily played in 11 personnel, but he also took one snap in place of Jeudy in 12 personnel with the starters. ... Cleveland’s willingness to use Concepcion in two-receiver sets is encouraging, as it gives him a path to more playing time than a typical slot receiver. If he plays well enough, he could eventually take a larger share of those snaps from Jeudy.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • KC Concepcion: “Wideout KC Concepcion turned heads the most, showcasing his versatility in the first half. Concepcion returned a punt 31 yards, caught three passes for 27 yards and scored his first NFL touchdown on a 14-yard jet sweep.” (Daniel Oyefusi)
  • KC Concepcion: “Based on how Concepcion's day went, it'd be a surprise if he's not a near full-time player at some point this season. He had a great punt return, two first-down receptions, and then a touchdown on an end around by running through would-be tacklers.” (Hayden Winks)
  • Isaiah Bond: “He primarily played in the slot as a rookie but lined up outside throughout this game. If any of Cleveland’s top three wide receivers misses time this season, Bond appears most likely to see a significant increase in snaps.” (Nathan Jahnke)

Dallas Cowboys

Did not play: Dak Prescott, Javonte Williams, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Joe Milton 12/15 for 107 yds, 1 TD

Malik Davis 7 carries for 39 yds
Israel Abanikanda 7 carries for 36 yds
Jaydon Blue 8 carries for 19 yds, 2 catches on 2 targets for 15 yds
Phil Mafah 4 carries for 9 yds, 1 catch on 1 target for 6 yds

Camden Brown 3 catches on 3 targets for 62 yds, 2 TDs, long of 39
Michael Trigg 4 catches on 5 targets for 30 yds

Cowboys Updates:

  • Jaydon Blue: “Although Davis finished last season as the primary backup, the Cowboys have made it clear they want Blue to win the job. Blue played 20 of 26 snaps in the first half of this game, coming off the field only for stretches of longer drives when Mafah rotated in. Davis didn’t enter until the second half.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • Camden Brown: “It feels like just about every training camp practice includes a notable catch by undrafted rookie wide receiver Camden Brown. That carried over into his first preseason game — he caught all three passes thrown his way for 62 yards and two touchdowns.” (Jon Machota)

Green Bay Packers

Did not practice: Josh Jacobs (groin)

Packers Updates:

  • MarShawn Lloyd: “Packers HC Matt LaFleur on MarShawn Lloyd: ‘He's got to keep going. It's one game. I'd like to get him more touches in the next game, just to make sure he can handle the load and just continue to build him up.’” (Jason B. Hirschhorn)
  • Tucker Kraft returned to team drills today: “Tucker Kraft has five targets and five catches with one TD on his first day of team drills.” (Matt Schneidman)

Indianapolis Colts

Colts Updates:

  • D.J. Giddens: “Could we have a 3rd running back debate between D.J. Giddens and Ulysses Bentley IV? While Giddens continues to be sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Bentley has been a consistent producer. He was noticed again on Saturday as a pass catcher. Rookie Seth McGowan is my definite backup.” (Kevin Bowen)

Jacksonville Jaguars

Did not play: Trevor Lawrence, Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez Jr., LeQuint Allen, Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, Travis Hunter, Brenton Strange (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

J'Mari Taylor 22 carries for 78 yds, 1 TD

Trebor Peña 3 catches on 4 targets for 58 yds, long of 43, 1 carry for 8 yds
CJ Williams 2 catches on 5 targets for 28 yds
Josh Cameron 1 catch on 3 targets for 17 yds
Tanner Koziol 0 catches on 2 targets

Kansas City Chiefs

Did not play: Patrick Mahomes, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Garrett Nussmeier 13/19 for 98 yds
Justin Fields 4/4 for 41 yds, 2 carries for 9 yds

Emmett Johnson 12 carries for 59 yds
Brashard Smith 8 carries for 21 yds, 2 catches on 2 targets for 12 yds
Emari Demercado 3 carries for 9 yds

Cyrus Allen 2 catches on 5 targets for 20 yds
Jalen Royals 2 catches on 2 targets for 17 yds

Chiefs Updates:

  • Emmett Johnson: “He’s generally showing all the things you want to see from a running back. He also ran behind the second- and third-team offensive line for the majority of this game, whereas Brashard Smith couldn’t gain a single yard running behind both the first-team and second-team offensive line.” (Charles Goldman)
  • Emari Demercado: “He’s listed as the second running back on the team’s unofficial depth chart, but he did not see many snaps on offense in this game. It was a lot of Johnson and Smith in the backfield during the second and third quarters. Demercado appeared to get into the game on special teams in the third quarter but didn’t see opportunities at running back until the fourth quarter.” (Charles Goldman)
  • Cyrus Allen: “It appears Kansas City is already comfortable with Allen in the slot, because after the first drive, he started playing specifically in 12 personnel on the outside to give him more experience in those situations. Royals continued to play with the backups, but only in 11 personnel.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • Cyrus Allen: “It wasn’t the explosive type of game you might expect from a player with the amount of hype Allen had coming into it. I do feel, however, this was a strong first performance for the rookie wide receiver. The one thing to note is that he played into the third quarter. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it shows the coaching staff still views him as someone who needs to play the game to get better.” (Charles Goldman)

Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders Updates:

  • Brock Bowers: “Brock Bowers was excused from practice for personal reasons, said HC Klint Kubiak.” (Ryan McFadden)
  • Dont’e Thornton Jr.: “Raiders WR Dont’e Thornton Jr. is here at practice today doing work off to the side, not in pads. He missed the preseason opener and several practices before that. HC Klint Kubiak said he’s been ‘banged up’ but expects him to return in the preseason.” (Sam Warren)

Los Angeles Rams

Did not play: Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Ronnie Rivers, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, Terrance Ferguson, Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Ty Simpson 21/25 for 190 yds, 2 TDs
Stetson Bennett IV 4/6 for 38 yds

Jordan Waters 5 carries for 37 yds
Jarquez Hunter 9 carries for 35 yds

Brennan Presley 4 catches on 4 targets for 58 yds
Max Klare 7 catches on 8 targets for 37 yds
CJ Daniels 2 catches on 5 targets for 18 yds

Rams Updates:

  • Ty Simpson: “The Rams kept the training wheels on him for a majority of the start, with almost every throw going within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Simpson did get the chance to rip a few passes to the intermediate levels in the fourth quarter, which led to hitting sixth-round rookie receiver CJ Daniels for a 16-yard gain on a deeper dig concept.” (Nate Atkins)
  • Jarquez Hunter: “2025 fourth-round running back Jarquez Hunter remains fourth on the depth chart, and he appears to be a distant fourth considering Rivers is among the players who didn’t need to play.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • Max Klare: “Targeted a team-high eight times, Klare finished with seven receptions for 37 yards – much of those from Simpson – displaying the skillset that made him look like a great fit alongside the returning personnel at tight end.” (Stu Jackson)

Minnesota Vikings

Did not play: Justin Jefferson (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Kyler Murray 2/3 for 10 yds
J.J. McCarthy 4/7 for 34 yds, 1 carry for 1 yd

Demond Claiborne 12 carries for 34 yds
Aaron Jones Sr. 3 carries for 27 yds
Jordan Mason 3 carries for 17 yds

Jordan Addison 1 catch on 1 target for 8 yds
Tai Felton 1 catch on 2 targets for 5 yds

Vikings Updates:

  • J.J. McCarthy: “Watching McCarthy play, it felt a lot like last season’s struggles. Everything he did he seemed somewhat difficult.” (Will Ragatz)
  • Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason: “Overall, the Vikings ran with Jones or Mason on six of nine plays and picked up 44 yards on those carries. With blockers like Oliver and Bredeson alongside a healthy offensive line, the Vikings have all the pieces to lean on their running game in 2026.” (Will Ragatz)
  • Demond Claiborne: “Of note, rookie running back Demond Claiborne -- a sixth-round draft pick -- got an extended look with 12 carries on 12 total snaps. He failed in two attempts to score from the 1-yard line but had already put his quick burst on display during runs of 7 and 9 yards earlier in the game.” (Kevin Seifert)

New England Patriots

Patriots Updates:

  • Kyle Williams: “Kyle Williams’ elevation to the starting group in the opening team period was the only notable change from previous walkthroughs, when the state of the Patriots’ depth chart is most clear. Earlier in camp, Williams took reps on a different field from Drake Maye and the first-team offense.” (Andrew Callahan)
  • Romeo Doubs: “With three tightly contested touchdown receptions in Saturday's practice -- the final one he tossed high in the air in celebration -- Doubs continued to build momentum. He had some of his best practices last week.” (Mike Reiss)

New Orleans Saints

Did not play: Tyler Shough, Travis Etienne Jr., Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, Devin Neal, Chris Olave, Jordyn Tyson, Devaughn Vele, Juwan Johnson, Noah Fant, Bryce Lance (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Zach Wilson 11/16 for 145 yds, 1 TD
Spencer Rattler 8/11 for 42 yds

Audric Estime 5 carries for 28 yds, 1 TD, 1 catch on 1 target for -6 yds

Bub Means 4 catches on 5 targets for 77 yds, long of 37
Barion Brown 4 catches on 4 targets for 53 yds
Oscar Delp 3 catches on 6 targets for 10 yds, 1 TD

Saints Updates:

  • Oscar Delp: “Delp spent a third of his snaps lined up in the slot, which is similar to the rate of Johnson last season. This suggests Delp will be a direct backup to Johnson, while Fant will likely join Johnson in 12 personnel.” (Nathan Jahnke)

New York Giants

Did not play: Malik Nabers (knee), JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), Jalin Hyatt (leg) (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Jaxson Dart 3/4 for 26 yds, 1 TD
Jameis Winston 8/9 for 89 yds, 2 carries for 3 yds

Cam Skattebo 4 carries for 19 yds
Tyrone Tracy Jr. 2 carries for 5 yds, 0 catches on 1 target
Devin Singletary 3 carries for 3 yds, 1 catch on 1 target for 40 yds, long of 40

Malachi Fields 3 catches on 3 targets for 34 yds, 1 TD
Isaiah Likely 2 catches on 2 targets for 11 yds
Odell Beckham Jr. 2 catches on 3 targets for 6 yds
Theo Johnson 1 catch on 1 target for 6 yds

Giants Updates:

  • Cam Skattebo: “Cam Skattebo started coming off his dislocated ankle, and Tyrone Tracy Jr. misidentified a blitzer that resulted in a massive hit on Jaxson Dart, which led to a visit with the infamous blue tent. Tracy can't have those types of reps and expect to steal a real role from Skattebo.” (Hayden Winks)
  • Malachi Fields: “The star of the group–Fields caught all three of his pass targets for 34 yards–his highlight being his touchdown catch in the end zone, his quarterback exploiting the size mismatch that the 6-foot-4 Fields lorded over his 5-foot-10 opponent. ... Beyond his touchdown catch, his two other receptions moved the chains, showing very reliable hands against contact. Fields also made a special teams tackle. He’s got the look of a starter on this team, and should be very tough to handle in the red zone.” (Bob Folger)
  • Isaiah Likely: “The Giants ran 10 plays out of 11 personnel, with Likely playing six and Johnson playing four. All six of Likely’s snaps were pass plays, while three of Johnson’s four were runs. Johnson and Manhertz handled both snaps with two tight ends on the field, while Manhertz was the primary tight end in 21 personnel. That usage suggests Likely could remain in a rotation similar to the one he experienced in Baltimore, except he would now occupy the Andrews role, with Johnson filling something closer to Likely’s old role.” (Nathan Jahnke)
  • “New York used a consistent four-man rotation of Slayton, Fields, Mooney and Austin with the starters. ... All four receivers remained in the game for the third drive, when Beckham and Berrios began to mix in. That suggests Beckham and Berrios are no higher than sixth on the depth chart at this point.” (Nathan Jahnke)

Philadelphia Eagles

Did not play: DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Makai Lemon (hamstring), Johnny Wilson (knee), Dameon Pierce (hamstring), Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Dontayvion Wicks, Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Cole Payton 4/9 for 37 yds, 1 TD, 3 carries for 45 yds
Tanner McKee 6/10 for 35 yds

Will Shipley 7 carries for 22 yds
Tank Bigsby 2 carries for 5 yds, 0 catches on 1 target

Darius Cooper 2 catches on 5 targets for 21 yds
Eli Stowers 3 catches on 3 targets for 12 yds

Eagles Updates:

  • Dontayvion Wicks: “Dontayvion Wicks appears to have locked up the No. 2 job. He was the only uninjured wide receiver to be inactive.” (Jeff McLane)

Pittsburgh Steelers

Did not practice: DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr.

Steelers Updates:

  • Kaleb Johnson, Eli Heidenreich: “Today's practice, for the 11-on-11 period on Field 1 (where the starters are) the RBs are Jaylen Warren, Rico Dowlde... and Lew NIchols. Field 2 is where Kaleb Johnson is (with Eli Heidenreich)” (Chris Adamski)
  • Roman Wilson: “Roman Wilson with another strong day today. Not lost on me that when he goes quiet he plays mostly outside. His loud and productive days are from in the slot. Should be notable Germie Bernard got the slot role on Thursday and Wilson played a lot outside. Wilson just fits in the slot much better.” (Nick Farabaugh)

San Francisco 49ers

Did not practice: Christian McCaffrey (tightness), Kaelon Black (adductor), Jordan James (rib) (source: Cam Inman)

49ers Updates:

  • George Kittle: “George Kittle on the possibility of playing Week 1: ‘I have a chance. We're running around a lot, hitting top speeds. Hopefully, we're back in pads practicing sooner rather than later. Just trying to check the boxes and not be a dumbass.’” (Matt Maiocco)

Seattle Seahawks

Did not play: Jadarian Price (soreness), Emanuel Wilson (leg), Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed, Cooper Kupp, AJ Barner, Tory Horton (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Jalen Milroe 5/8 for 36 yds, 1 TD, 5 carries for 36 yds

George Holani 12 carries for 42 yds

Montorie Foster Jr. 5 catches on 7 targets for 36 yds, 1 TD
Elijah Arroyo 1 catch on 1 target for 12 yds

My Thoughts/Other things I read

  • Andy Dalton seems to have the lead on Tanner McKee in the Eagles backup QB competition. He started the game vs the Ravens. Each practice leading up to the game they have been rotating days. Neither looked good vs the Ravens
  • Eli Stowers should probably be a taxi stash if you have him in a dynasty league. He’s TE3 at best currently and split reps with Grant Calcaterra vs the Ravens. A few Eagles pods have mentioned the possibility of them adding another veteran tight end before the start of the regular season and that there’s a high chance Stowers starts the season inactive on gamedays
  • DeMario Douglas is going to be the Patriots WR3 and starting slot receiver
  • LT RaShawn Slater has missed 6 straight practices for the Chargers

Player Updates and News (8/15)

I’ve been keeping track of fantasy relevant news and updates from beat writers, national reporters, and fantasy analysts. Here's a recap of any quote or update that stood out to me today. Some of these are micro/macro, some are redraft focused and some are dynasty focused. If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @DanChincharFF

A bunch of updates today cover the preseason games from yesterday. I will have today's preseason games covered in tomorrow's post.

I want to highlight a few preseason recap sites that covered a lot of ground from yesterday's games:

NFL Preseason Week 1 Recap by Nathan Jahnke

NFL Preseason Week 1 Fantasy Football Takeaways by Hayden Winks

Note: Every update has the writer's name with a source link that will direct you to the website where I read the quote. If you see an italicized link, that will be specifically for something on Twitter/X.

Arizona Cardinals

  • Jeremiyah Love: “Mike LaFleur said that Jeremiyah Love came in more sore than expected today with his ankle injury and will not practice this week. LaFleur did not commit to Love being available for Week 1.” (source: Theo Mackie)

Atlanta Falcons

Did not play: Bijan Robinson (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Tua Tagovailoa 3/5 for 22 yds, 1 carry for 0 yds

Brian Robinson 2 carries for 6 yds

Kyle Pitts 3 catches on 4 targets for 22 yds
Zachariah Branch 2 catches on 4 targets for 6 yds, 1 carry for 3 yds

Falcons Updates:

  • Tagovailoa looked uncomfortable and didn't get much help from his offensive line. He completed 3 of 5 passes for 22 yards. All four targets went to tight end Kyle Pitts Sr.” (source: Marc Raimondi)
  • “Reports throughout OTAs and training camp indicated that Dotson was the favorite for the No. 2 wide receiver job, and this game provided further evidence. He played every snap with the starters over two drives, lining up primarily at X. Zaccheaus joined him for every snap in 11 personnel, typically operating out of the slot. London played the first two snaps before exiting ahead of the other starters.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)
  • Zachariah Branch: “Branch played one snap with the starters, joining Dotson in 12 personnel. He returned with the backups and primarily lined up in the slot. If Branch earns significant playing time during the regular season, it will most likely come at the expense of Zaccheaus. That leaves Dotson not only firmly in a starting role but also facing minimal competition for playing time.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Dallas Cowboys

  • Jaydon Blue: “Blue's speed gives him a big advantage over his counterparts in the Cowboys' RB2 battle. It's his ball security that has been one of the reasons why he can't separate into the role. Can Blue hold onto the football, and use his speed to make plays? That will ultimately be the determining factor for his spot on the roster.” (source: Tommy Yarrish)

Denver Broncos

Did not play: Jaylen Waddle (muscle tightness), Marvin Mims Jr. (undisclosed injury) (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Jonah Coleman 4 carries for 24 yds
RJ Harvey 5 carries for 16 yds

Courtland Sutton 3 catches on 3 targets for 60 yds, long of 40
Evan Engram 1 catch on 3 targets for 24 yds
Troy Franklin 1 catch on 2 targets for 23 yds
Pat Bryant 1 catch on 1 target for 15 yds
Justin Joly 1 catch on 1 target for 0 yds

Broncos Updates:

  • Pat Bryant: “Pat Bryant is ahead of Troy Franklin: The Broncos were without Jaylen Waddle and Marvin Mims Jr., but this game still provided some clarity on the wide receiver rotation. ... While several starters remained in the game for Denver’s third drive, Sutton and Bryant were done for the night. Franklin continued playing alongside Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Cam Ross and Dane Key. ... That usage suggests Bryant is ahead of Franklin on the depth chart and should see significant playing time in three-receiver sets alongside Sutton and Waddle” (source: Nathan Jahnke)
  • Jonah Coleman: “Jonah Coleman is already third on the depth chart: The fourth-round rookie was listed sixth on Denver’s unofficial depth chart. ... The Broncos played three drives with their starting offensive line. Harvey handled all six snaps on the opening drive and the first five snaps of the second before his day ended. Coleman replaced him to finish the drive and then played all 11 snaps on the third.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)
  • Jonah Coleman: Sean Payton on Jonah Coleman: “‘Just what we've been seeing, right?’ Payton said of Coleman. ‘And then you see enough of it, and you're like, 'All right.' … Look, he's had a good camp. I liked his balance coming out of some of the tackles. I thought overall that group had a good night.’” (source: Aric DiLalla)
  • Jonah Coleman: “The rookie running back put on a show and then some, proving he deserves playing time this year. The bruising back left a mark on the Falcons. In the first quarter, Coleman exploded through the line of scrimmage, put his shoulder down, bounced off an Atlanta defender, hit a spin and picked up an extra five yards. Just a few plays later, the rookie displayed fantastic vision, kicking a run designed to the right out to the left. Coleman also showed off his hands, hauling in a pass that was later called back due to a penalty.” (source: Zac Stevens)
  • Jonah Coleman: “Jonah Coleman is as advertised. Absolute steal of a fourth-round pick who has the ability to be the starter before too long. Get on the bandwagon ASAP.” (source: Zack Kelberman)

Miami Dolphins

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Malik Willis 4/5 for 43 yds, 2 carries for 9 yds

De'Von Achane 7 carries for 39 yds, 1 TD
Ollie Gordon 7 carries for 39 yds
Jaylen Wright 6 carries for 22 yds, 0 catches on 1 target

Caleb Douglas 1 catch on 2 targets for 28 yds
Jalen Tolbert 1 catch on 3 targets for 27 yds
Malik Washington 3 catches on 3 targets for 15 yds

Dolphins Updates:

  • Caleb Douglas and Malik Washington were the clear top two wide receivers with the starters. ... Douglas and Washington have received the most praise throughout training camp. Miami’s starters played one long drive and utilized a variety of personnel groupings. Douglas and Washington played 100% of the snaps in 11, 12 and 21 personnel, while Douglas also played both snaps in 22 personnel. Washington’s usage was particularly noteworthy because he played 93.4% of Miami’s 11-personnel snaps last season but only 37.6% of the snaps in two-receiver sets” (source: Nathan Jahnke)
  • Caleb Douglas: “Wide receiver Caleb Douglas shot up the depth chart during the Dolphins' first two weeks of training camp and showed why in his only snaps of the game. On third-and-5, quarterback Malik Willis hit Douglas on a slot fade. The rookie shook off defensive pass interference, tipped the ball to himself with one hand and corralled it in for a 28-yard reception.” (source: Marcel Louis-Jacques)
  • Malik Willis: “Willis ... was sharp in his lone drive of the game -- a 14-play, 93-yard touchdown drive that spanned more than seven minutes. He completed 4 of 5 passes for 43 yards, adding 9 more yards on the ground.” (source: Marcel Louis-Jacques)
  • De'Von Achane: “De'Von Achane was given seven carries and played on all 14 plays of the first drive. They used him between the tackles and at the goal line. He didn't have any receptions on the drive, but that will change in the regular season. It's hard to fail if the workload is as big as the coaching staff suggested and this preseason data hints at.” (source: Hayden Winks)

New York Jets

Did not play: Geno Smith (foot soreness), Isaiah Davis (knee), Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Cade Klubnik 5/7 for 56 yds

Braelon Allen 4 carries for 44 yds, 1 TD, long of 31
Breece Hall 4 carries for 16 yds

Garrett Wilson 2 catches on 3 targets for 32 yds
Omar Cooper Jr. 2 catches on 3 targets for 31 yds
Mason Taylor 2 catches on 2 targets for 19 yds

Jets Updates:

  • Cade Klubnik: “Fourth-round QB Cade Klubnik was the surprise starter after Geno Smith (ankle) was ruled out as a precaution. Klubnik strengthened his case for the No. 2 job, leading the starting offense to a field goal and touchdown in his only two series -- a curiously short outing.” (source: Rich Cimini)
  • Omar Cooper Jr.: “First-round wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. got into the open field for a 26-yard reception, but the important takeaway is that he played with the backups, not the starters. He was leapfrogged on the depth chart by Isaiah Williams.” (source: Rich Cimini)
  • Omar Cooper Jr.: “Cooper is a unique receiver. What he does well isn’t really something that shows up in practice. He’s not super electric or fast. He doesn’t run the best routes. He’s a player you want to get the ball to, then step away as he makes magic happen. The ‘YAC’ shows up in games – and did a bit on Friday. The key for Cooper now, and to steal a few reps back from Williams, is doing this consistently. He flashes, but doesn’t do it enough.” (source: Connor Hughes)
  • Breece Hall: “This offseason, New York appears more focused on making Hall the focal point of the running game. That was apparent on the first drive of this game, as Hall carried the ball four times over 11 plays and came off the field just once, on a third-and-long. More importantly, he remained on the field for two other third downs after not playing a single third-down snap with the starters last preseason.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)
  • Braelon Allen: “The Jets really do have quite the 1-2 punch with Breece Hall and Allen. Allen flashed that physicality and speed on his touchdown, when he got through an arm tackle and then ran away from the defense for the score. The Jets recently paid Hall – deservedly so. Frank Reich can’t forget about Allen, though.” (source: Connor Hughes)
  • Garrett Wilson: “That grab from Wilson was a thing of beauty. He had another catch-and-run for 11 yards on the same drive. He’s a very, very good football player and the Jets offense operates at an entirely different level with him out there. The key, and this has been the case: Get Wilson a quarterback who can get him the ball. They hope they’ve done that with Smith.” (source: Connor Hughes)

Pittsburgh Steelers

Did not practice: DK Metcalf (undisclosed), Michael Pittman Jr. (right leg), Kaden Wetjen (undisclosed)

  • “Mike McCarthy said that injured #Steelers WRs DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. will be ‘hard pressed to work this week,’ but did not offer a firm timeline beyond that.” (source: Alan Saunders)

San Francisco 49ers

  • Mike Evans returned to practice today, Christian McCaffrey remains out (source: Cam Inman)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Did not play: Baker Mayfield, Jake Browning, Bucky Irving, Kenny Gainwell, Chris Godwin Jr., Cade Otton, Emeka Egbuka (toe), Jalen McMillan (knee), Tez Johnson (groin) (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Jalon Daniels 10/15 for 111 yds, 3 carries for 9 yds, 1 TD

Sean Tucker 4 carries for 12 yds, 2 catches on 2 targets for 11 yds

Tez Johnson 2 catches on 6 targets for 19 yds

Buccaneers Updates:

  • Ted Hurst III: “Third-round rookie Ted Hurst III received significant playing time in the first half with five of the team’s other top six wide receivers sidelined. Hurst projects primarily as an X receiver and spent most of his snaps there, though he also saw considerable work in the slot.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Washington Commanders

Did not play: Jayden Daniels, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, Jeremy McNichols (quad), Terry McLaurin, Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Kaytron Allen 23 carries for 85 yds, 1 TD, 1 catch on 2 targets for 1 yd
Robert Henry Jr. 12 carries for 75 yds, 1 TD

Jaylin Lane 3 catches on 4 targets for 31 yds
Colson Yankoff 2 catches on 3 targets for 24 yds
Treylon Burks 1 catch on 2 targets for 16 yds
Antonio Williams 1 catch on 3 targets for 16 yds
Ben Sinnott 1 catch on 1 target for 11 yds
Luke McCaffrey 0 catches on 2 targets

Commanders Updates:

  • Robert Henry Jr.: “Undrafted free agent running back Robert Henry Jr. showed juice on his runs and scored from 22 yards out. He finished with 75 yards on 12 runs. Henry hit the holes fast and used good vision to knife through narrow openings.” (source: John Keim)
  • Antonio Williams: “Third-round rookie Antonio Williams is buried. Even with Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs inactive, Williams didn't enter until after Treylon Burks, Luke McCaffrey, Dyami Brown, Van Jefferson and Jaylin Lane played.” (source: Hayden Winks)

I will have tonight's preseason games covered in tomorrow's post.

I want to highlight a few preseason recaps that covered a lot of ground from yesterday's games:

NFL Preseason Week 1 Recap by Nathan Jahnke

Preseason Week 1 Fantasy Recap from Thursday by u/JoeInglesOfficial

Note: Every update has the writer's name with a source link that will direct you to the website where I read the quote. If you see an italicized link, that will be specifically for something on Twitter/X.

49ers

Did not play: Christian McCaffrey (soreness), Jordan James (ribs), Kaelon Black (thigh), Kyle Juszczyk (finger), Mike Evans (quadriceps), Christian Kirk (calf), Brock Purdy, Mac Jones, Deebo Samuel Sr., Jake Tonges (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

De'Zhaun Stribling 7 catches on 8 targets for 63 yds, long of 32

49ers Updates:

“Second-round receiver De'Zhaun Stribling has been one of the stars of 49ers training camp, and that translated to his first preseason game. Stribling played the first three series, all against starting Titans defensive backs, and posted seven catches for 62 yards before calling it a night. That included an impressive over-the-shoulder grab for 32 yards and an 11-yard catch-and-run for a first down to set up San Francisco's first touchdown.” (source: Nick Wagoner)

De'Zhaun Stribling: “Another sign coaches are pleased with the rookie: He was given the rest of the night off with nearly eight minutes left in the second quarter, well before all of Thursday’s other offensive starters” (source: Matt Barrows, Vic Tafur)

Bengals

Did not play: Erick All

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Joe Burrow 5/6 for 39 yds

Tahj Brooks 4 carries for 11 yds, 1 catch on 3 targets for 8 yds

Colbie Young 2 catches on 4 targets for 28 yds
Jack Endries 3 catches on 3 targets for 25 yds, 1 TD
Ja'Marr Chase 1 catch on 1 target for 16 yds

Bengals Updates:

Colbie Young plays with the starters: Young took two snaps on the first two drives in place of Tee Higgins while Joe Burrow was still playing. ... One of Young’s snaps with the starters was in 11 personnel, but he also took a snap in place of Higgins in 12 personnel, rather than Iosivas taking the 12 personnel snap. Often, when starters leave the game, key backups are included. The Bengals' top two running backs and top two tight ends left the game, but Iosivas kept playing with the backups.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

“The Bengals used running backs Chase Brown and Samaje Perine over the first two drives. Their usage was extremely similar to last season, with Brown playing more on early downs and Perine more on third downs.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Tahj Brooks: “In this offense, running backs must be trusted to catch the ball out of the backfield. There’s no situation where that can be in doubt. Not once, but twice Thursday, the second-year running back dropped passes.” (source: Paul Dehner Jr.)

Buccaneers

“Bucs WR Emeka Egbuka underwent more testing today with a specialist and it was confirmed he has a [toe] sprain but it’s stable. Bucs are very optimistic that he will be ready for Week 1.” (source: Rick Stroud)

Cardinals

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Jeremiyah Love 11 carries for 58 yds, 3 catches on 3 targets for 14 yds
Tyler Allgeier 4 carries for 19 yds

Cardinals Updates:

Jeremiyah Love started the Arizona Cardinals' preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders and played the majority of the snaps over the first three drives while handling 14 touches. Love had 11 carries for 58 yards and caught three passes for 14 yards. The performance could lead to a slight spike in Love's average draft position, but regardless, he remains firmly on the RB1 radar.” (source: Eric Moody)

Jeremiyah Love: “Love looked awesome. Spin move. Hurdle. Balance. More importantly, the rookie started over Tyler Allgeier and out-snapped him, 16:6, when both of them were mixing in throughout the first two drives. Love was also on the field for a third-and-3 play-action rep from inside the 10-yard line. This coaching staff isn't playing games. Love is going to play a ton right away.” (source: Hayden Winks)

Chargers

Did not play: Justin Herbert, Omarion Hampton, Keaton Mitchell, Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris, David Njoku, Charlie Kolar (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Trey Lance 12/20 for 164 yds, 1 INT, 3 carries for 27 yds

Kimani Vidal 5 carries for 8 yds, 0 catches on 1 target

KeAndre Lambert-Smith 4 catches on 6 targets for 58 yds
Brenen Thompson 2 catches on 6 targets for 30 yds
Oronde Gadsden 2 catches on 3 targets for 21 yds

Chargers Updates:

“The starters were held out, including training camp stand outs RB Keaton Mitchell and TE Charlie Kolar. That's great news for their sleeper appeal. Meanwhile, Kimani Vidal and Oronde Gadsden II played with the Trey Lance offense.” (source: Hayden Winks)

KeAndre Lambert-Smith: “Lambert-Smith led the wideouts with four receptions for 58 yards. He basically picked up right where left off from last preseason. His route running was generally as crisp as usual and he provided Lance with some easy opportunities over the middle of the field. At least for now, Lambert-Smith made a good case for why the Chargers should keep six receivers.” (source: Alexander Insdorf)

Colts

Did not play: Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin, Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, D.J. Giddens (hamstring) (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Anthony Richardson Sr. 11/14 for 145 yds, 1 INT, 6 carries for 53 yds, 1 TD, 1 fumble lost
Riley Leonard 10/21 for 89 yds, 1 INT, 2 carries for 12 yds

Seth McGowan 5 carries for 17 yds, 1 fumble lost

Colts Updates:

Seth McGowan: “Nevertheless, the rookie seventh-round running back delivered a promising debut. McGowan totaled just 17 yards on five carries, but his first run, a 9-yarder, displayed the physical running style that has quickly endeared him to his teammates and coaches. McGowan also had a 26-yard kickoff return that offered a glimpse of what he can do on special teams as he continues to make a strong case to serve as the top backup behind Jonathan Taylor.” (source: James Boyd)

Riley Leonard: “Leonard finished 10-of-21 passing for 89 yards and one interception. He also had two carries for 12 yards as the Colts failed to score a TD in the second half. Thursday’s poor showing probably wasn’t enough to completely derail Leonard’s chances of winning the job as Jones’ backup, since he has performed better than Richardson throughout most of training camp — though the gap between the QBs appears to have shrunk after the preseason opener.” (source: James Boyd)

Anthony Richardson: “His performance was a lot more good than bad, which had been the opposite throughout most of training camp, and at least kept Leonard from running away with the backup QB job. Richardson’s solid showing could also ignite some outside interest in the 24-year-old, who still hasn’t rescinded his trade request.” (source: James Boyd)

Falcons

Tua Tagovailoa: “Stefanski, I’m told, is prepared to be pretty patient here. He might wait this out until after the preseason to name a starter, when you have to have more of an official depth chart. But certainly, the inside track goes to Tua right now because Michael Penix has not graduated yet to 11-man work. The Falcons are simply uncertain whether he can get on the field for any sort of preseason game action.” (source: Jeremy Fowler)

Jaguars

I asked John Shipley what his thoughts on rookie TE Tanner Koziol are, and if he will have a role this year:

“I think he has an interesting skill-set as a pass-catcher, and the type of traits we haven't seen the Jaguars roster at tight end very often in year's past. He has legit speed, runs good routes, and can attack the ball in the air like a receiver. With that said, the lack of physicality as both a blocker and at the catch point has shown up a few times. I think he will have a role as TE3, but not a very large one.

I do think Koziol has such a unique skill-set that you might see him in some niche red-zone packages now and then, but overall I think he will be a distant third in terms of snaps along the tight end depth chart behind Brenton Strange and Nate Boerkircher.” (source: John Shipley)

Chris Rodriguez: “If training camp has made anything clear about the Jaguars' running game so far, it is that they truly do believe in Rodriguez to be their thumper in the running game, and he has checked each and every box thus far.” (source: John Shipley)

Lions

Did not play: Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Isaac TeSlaa 0 catches on 3 targets, 11 routes run

Lions Updates:

“They rested their starters, but perceived WR3 Isaac TeSlaa was forced into snaps. He had a drop that turned into an interception, which continues a trend of having a disappointing second offseason.” (source: Hayden Winks)

Packers

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

MarShawn Lloyd 4 carries for 13 yds, 1 catch on 1 target for -4 yds

Jayden Reed 1 catch on 2 targets for 19 yds
Savion Williams 3 catches on 5 targets for 18 yds
Christian Watson 0 catches on 1 target

Packers Updates:

“Matt LaFleur says Josh Jacobs could potentially return this week but won't be until later in week, if so.” (source: Weston Hodkiewicz)

MarShawn Lloyd started for Green Bay, took every snap on the first drive and played every snap on the second drive with the backups.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Jayden Reed: “The starters played one drive and largely stuck with 11 personnel, with Watson and Golden outside and Reed in the slot. The Packers ran only two snaps of 12 personnel, and Reed was off the field for both. Williams took one snap with the first unit, replacing Watson in 11 personnel rather than appearing in the heavier grouping. That makes Reed unlikely to be the primary receiver in 12, which caps his ceiling, though it doesn't rule out more of those snaps than usual.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Patriots

Did not play: Drake Maye, Rhamondre Stevenson, TreVeyon Henderson, A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Hunter Henry (source: Nathan Jahnke)

“The starters rested, but they trotted out trade-candidate WR Kayshon Boutte. Training camp reports suggest it'll mostly be slot DeMario Douglas in 3-WR sets with Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism rounding out that group.” (source: Hayden Winks)

Kyle Williams: “After a slow start to training camp, Williams came down with the Patriots’ lone touchdown on a play that showed why coaches are still excited about his potential — even if he has been relegated to playing mostly with the backups in practice.” (source: Chad Graff)

Raiders

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Fernando Mendoza 10/16 for 97 yds, 1 TD

Mike Washington Jr. 6 carries for 63 yds, long of 53

Malik Benson 2 catches on 4 targets for 26 yds
Jack Bech 3 catches on 3 targets for 25 yds, 1 TD
Tre Tucker 2 catches on 2 targets for 21 yds
Jalen Nailor 1 catch on 1 target for 19 yds

Raiders Updates:

Fernando Mendoza: “Mendoza finished 10-for-16 passing for 97 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. He took over for Kirk Cousins after the veteran led the Raiders to a touchdown on the team’s first offensive series. The last pass Mendoza threw in the first half was his lone touchdown of the night, a slant to second-year receiver Jack Bech on third-and-goal.” (source: Sam Warren)

Fernando Mendoza: “Unlike college, Mendoza played under center and seemed to handle it well.” (source: Hayden Winks)

Ashton Jeanty finished hard on his between-tackles carries, but it was fourth-round athletic specimen Mike Washington Jr. who stole the show by ripping off a huge run where a safety ate some turf with a big collision. There's no debate that he's Jeanty's sidekick and insurance.” (source: Hayden Winks)

Jack Bech:Nailor took over as the X receiver for this game, while Bech moved into the slot. Thornton has been missing practice due to injury, but it appears unlikely that he will be among the starters. Bech was better suited to play at Z or in the slot coming out of college and was playing out of position at X last season, while Thornton’s natural fit was at X. Nailor and Tucker played in both two- and three-receiver sets and rotated in 13 personnel, while Bech was limited to 11 personnel.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Saints

“Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has a right hamstring issue and will miss time, according to Saints coach Kellen Moore. Moore said that he's not going to estimate a timetable for Tyson's return yet, but when asked about the regular season, he said 'it could' potentially linger into Week 1.” (source: Katherine Terrell)

Seahawks

Jadarian Price missed practice yesterday but did participate in today’s walkthrough (source: Gregg Bell)

Emanuel Wilson also missed practice. The offseason free-agent signing from Green Bay hasn’t drilled since he pulled up after a catch and run out of bounds and grabbed his upper right leg late in practice Tuesday. Wilson had been getting more time with the starting offense the last two weeks until his injury.” (source: Gregg Bell)

“Tight end Elijah Arroyo continues his strong second Seahawks training camp. He and AJ Barner may be getting a lot of run together in two- or even three-tight-end formations Fleury seems intent on using this season.” (source: Gregg Bell)

Steelers

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Drew Allar 10/13 for 153 yds, 2 TD, 2 carries for 2 yds, 1 TD
Will Howard 7/9 for 86 yds, 1 carry for 2 yds

Eli Heidenreich 9 carries for 21 yds
Kaleb Johnson 2 carries for 3 yds

Kaden Wetjen 2 catches on 2 targets for 79 yds, 1 TD, long of 74
Germie Bernard 4 catches on 5 targets for 51 yds
Roman Wilson 1 catch on 1 target for 7 yds

Steelers Updates:

Kaleb Johnson: “The decision to sit the top two running backs provided an opportunity to analyze the RB3 competition. The takeaway there is Kaleb Johnson’s job seems very much uncertain after he carried the ball just twice for three yards. Travis Homer took most of the reps with the first-team offense.” (source: Mike DeFabo)

Germie Bernard:Bernard was the Steelers' primary source of offense throughout the first half. ... Throughout training camp, third year receiver Roman Wilson has been playing ahead of Bernard. ... One hint that Bernard might be further in the pecking order is that he played more than twice as many snaps as Wilson out of the slot. Both Metcalf and Pittman have spent their careers as outside receivers, so it’s likely that Bernard or Wilson will play primarily out of the slot this season. Bernard caught four passes for 51 yards, while Wilson only caught one pass for 7 yards ... The fact that both receivers played the entire first half after several starters exited the game suggests there is no clear winner at this point.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Texans

Did not play: C.J. Stroud, David Montgomery, Woody Marks, Nico Collins, Jayden Higgins, Dalton Schultz, Tank Dell, Jaylin Noel (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Titans

Preseason Game Stat Lines:

Cam Ward 5/12 for 57 yds, 1 carry for 2 yds
Will Levis 3/8 for 42 yds, 4 carries for 22 yds

Tyjae Spears 4 carries for 35 yds, 1 catch on 1 target for 4 yds
Nicholas Singleton 8 carries for 31 yds
Tony Pollard 4 carries for 22 yds, 1 TD

Wan'Dale Robinson 2 catches on 4 targets for 19 yds
Calvin Ridley 1 catch on 1 target for 18 yds
Carnell Tate 0 catches on 3 targets
Elic Ayomanor 0 catches on 3 targets

Titans Updates:

Tyjae Spears played more snaps than Tony Pollard in the Tennessee Titans' preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, and the rotation looked much closer to 50-50 than it did last season. Pollard still started, but both backs mixed in on early downs, third downs and short-yardage situations before leaving at the same time.” (source: Eric Moody)

Robinson played in the slot as expected, but on the first drive, Ridley primarily lined up at X and Tate at Z. Ridley played only the first seven snaps before his day ended ahead of the other starters, with Ayomanor taking over at X for the remainder of the starters’ playing time. The starters played three drives in total, with Dike also mixing in exclusively in place of Tate at Z.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Cam Ward underwhelmed. Last year’s No. 1 pick did not look good, missing several open throws and struggling with footwork in Brian Daboll’s offense. Ward finished 5 of 12 for 57 yards against mostly 49ers backups.” (source: Jacob Robinson)

Gunnar Helm: “This appears to be an offense that will utilize 11 personnel more frequently than most teams. In 11 personnel, there was a general tendency for Helm to play in passing situations and Bellinger to handle more blocking work, but Helm was still on the field for only 64.3% of the Titans’ passing plays. It’s possible for a tight end to be fantasy-relevant with that level of playing time, but it generally requires a high target rate and a productive offense. Helm hasn’t shown that he can consistently command targets at a high rate, and there are still questions surrounding the Titans’ offense.” (source: Nathan Jahnke)

Vikings

Justin Jefferson:Jefferson and Murray are already forming a connection we’ve simply never seen him have with McCarthy. Murray is willing to throw less-than-perfect passes downfield with full trust in his WR1, a factor clearly missing from last year’s disastrous pass attack.” (source: Jason Harmon)

Kyler Murray:Murray had taken the majority of his career snaps from the shotgun, while O’Connell tended to have his QBs operate from under center. So far through camp, though, we are seeing a distinct blend between the two. O’Connell has integrated more shotgun formations and even showcased pistol formations as well in the early stages of camp. Murray’s mobility, combined with a new outside run scheme for his running backs, opens the door to numerous possibilities and variations in formation.” (source: Jason Harmon)

Player Updates from Beat Writers & National Reporters (8/13)

I’ve been keeping track of fantasy relevant news and updates from beat writers. Here's a recap of any quote that stood out to me today. Some of these are micro/macro, some are redraft focused and some are dynasty focused.

I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person. Let me know if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I’ve also been asking beat writers fantasy relevant questions through their mailbags whenever possible.

If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @FantasyTags.

Today I want to highlight this ESPN Training Camp page. You can find full camp updates from every team on there.

Note: Every update has the writer's name with a source link that will direct you to the website where I read the quote. If you see an italicized link, that will be specifically for something on Twitter/X.

49ers

From ESPN's 49ers training camp article today:

Who is the 49ers' top performer so far at camp?

“QB Brock Purdy. There are others deserving of mention here, but this has been Purdy's best and most consistent training camp despite working with a constantly changing supporting cast. No matter who has been at running back or receiver, Purdy has found ways to move the offense in nearly every practice. He has been particularly sharp when pushing the ball downfield for big plays. If healthy, he looks poised for a big year” (source: Nick Wagoner)

More 49ers updates:

“Some thought they reached for Stribling. I'll just say this. No they didn't. He fits everything Kyle Shanahan loves and he could easily be the organization's #1 WR sooner rather than later.” (source: James Palmer)

Bears

From ESPN's Bears training camp article today:

Who is the Bears' top performer so far at camp?

“What a difference a year makes for Caleb Williams. In his second offseason with Ben Johnson, the quarterback has the Bears' offense in position to be one of the NFL's most explosive units.” (source: Courtney Cronin)

Bills

Did not practice today: Skyler Bell, Ty Johnson

Bills HC Joe Brady: “Right now, everybody that's healthy is going to be playing on Saturday” vs. the Panthers in their preseason opener. (source: Joe Buscaglia)

Browns

From ESPN's Browns training camp article today:

Who is the Browns' top performer so far at camp?

“WR Denzel Boston. The No. 39 overall pick is trending to be Cleveland's No. 1 receiver sooner rather than later. Boston has dazzled with plenty of highlights, using his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame to make contested catches almost daily. He's also made himself a friendly target for quarterbacks as a smooth route runner. Boston recently got promoted to the No. 1 offense as Cleveland's boundary receiver.” (source: Daniel Oyefusi)

Buccaneers

“I think Chris Godwin Jr. and Emeka Egbuka will get the most snaps for the Bucs, Jalen McMillan a close third. How well Hurst picks up the offense will decide how often he’s taking one of those three off the field. Bucs almost always have an RB and TE out there.” (source: Greg Auman)

Cardinals

From ESPN's Cardinals training camp article today:

Who was the Cardinals' top performer at camp?

Jeremiyah Love showcased his complete arsenal of skills throughout camp. His quick footwork stood out from the first day of camp and once the team put on pads, Love displayed his vision and speed through holes in the line. And when Love caught passes, he showed an asset of his game that has been talked highly about but to see it in real time expressed how dynamic of a player the third-overall player can be.” (source: Josh Weinfuss)

More Cardinals updates:

“QB Carson Beck won’t play in tonight’s preseason game against the Raiders due to a rib injury sustained in last Thursday’s Hall of Fame game. The injury is not considered serious. Beck practiced through soreness all week but the team decided to keep him out tonight as a precaution and to allow more time to heal.” (source: Ian Rapoport)

“If you're curious about the number of targets Trey McBride will get ... I'd take the over. The new staff knew he was really good, but it's even better than what they though watching in person.” (source: James Palmer)

Chargers

Ladd McConkey's YAC is expected to be off the charts this season. Far more slippery than he's given credit.” (source: James Palmer)

Chiefs

“The Chiefs certainly seem committed to giving Kenneth Walker a bigger role than he had in Seattle. And the running back, to his credit, has taken well to his new team while arriving with a no-nonsense mentality.” (source: Jesse Newell)

Colts

From ESPN's Colts training camp article today:

Who has been the Colts' top performer at camp so far?

“There are strong cases to be made for players like Josh Downs, Sauce Gardner and Tyler Warren. But given the context, what quarterback Daniel Jones displayed during camp was thoroughly impressive. After spending his offseason recovering from an Achilles tear sustained in December, Jones proved he is ready for the season by performing well on a consistent basis. His ability to drop back from under center, throw on the run and scramble with elusiveness likely put any doubts the Colts had to rest. Jones is unlikely to play in the preseason, but he will be full go for Week 1.” (source: Stephen Holder)

Commanders

I asked @ZachSelbyWC which new Commanders player on offense has stood out, here's his answer:

“Again, there are a lot of players to choose from here, but I think Stefon Diggs was hard to miss on the field yesterday. He and Daniels already appear to have a good connection, but the way he runs routes and gets open is truly beautiful. He and Terry McLaurin are going to be a fun combination.”

Chig Okonkwo: “Okonkwo just feels like a natural fit for Washington's offense and gets open often. He had a nice catch during two-minute drills near the sideline with no one around him, and that's a credit to his ability to create separation with his routes.” (source: Zach Selby)

Jacory Croskey-Merritt: “Pass protection is one of the areas that [Jacory] Croskey-Merritt has improved this offseason. He's been physical and committing to protecting Daniels, and that was clear against the Dolphins. He wasn't targeted in the offensive series that I watched, but I will say that he looked good as a receiver in previous practices.” (source: Zach Selby)

Cowboys

From ESPN's Cowboys training camp article today:

Who is the Cowboys' top performer so far at camp?

George Pickens. He has essentially made a big play in every practice as he gets set to play on the $27.3 million franchise tag. Whatever disenchantment some may have felt Pickens would have without the long-term deal has been unfounded. Coaches have noted his attention in the meeting rooms since the start of training camp.” (source: Todd Archer)

Eagles

From ESPN's Eagles training camp article today:

Who is the Eagles' top performer so far at camp?

“WR Darius Cooper. No one has made more of their opportunities than Cooper, the 2025 undrafted free agent out of Tarleton State. ... Cooper has stepped in and has developed good rapport with QB Jalen Hurts while showing off strong hands and a willingness to go over the middle.” (source: Tim McManus)

More Eagles updates:

Did not practice today: Makai Lemon (hamstring), DeVonta Smith (hamstring)

Saquon Barkley seemed to tweak his left ankle late in practice. He was checked out by a trainer and never put his left cleat back on, although he didn’t go to the medical tent and even spent time after practice signing some autographs and taking photos.” (source: Dave Zangaro)

Dontayvion Wicks. WR2. He’s been outstanding again today.” (source: Ryan Fowler)

Dontayvion Wicks: “It's pretty clear to me that Wicks is going to be the Eagles' WR2 this year, at least to start the season. He and Cooper have both had good camps, but Wicks has more game experience, and he has quickly developed good rapport and timing with Hurts.” (source: Jimmy Kempski)

Falcons

From ESPN's Falcons training camp article today:

Who is the Falcons' top performer so far at camp?

Drake London. No one has had more receptions in Falcons training camp than their star wide receiver. And it definitely seems like his injury issues (knee, shoulder) from 2025 are in the rearview mirror. ... But London, with his big frame [6-4, 215] and sure hands, has been a safety net for a quarterback group all getting used to a new system under head coach Kevin Stefanski and offensive coordinator/playcaller Tommy Rees.” (source: Marc Raimondi)

Giants

From ESPN's Giants training camp article today:

Who is the Giants' top performer so far at camp?

“TE Isaiah Likely. The offseason acquisition has been the Giants' No. 1 receiver with Malik Nabers not participating in team drills. He's been quarterback Jaxson Darts safety net, leading all first-team receivers in catches by a wide margin.” (source: Jordan Raanan)

More Giants updates:

Malik Nabers took part in team drills today. He wore a red, non-contact jersey. It was a walk-thru/install period, but Nabers was out there against the defense. He caught a couple passes. Again: Everything points towards him being back for the start of the season.” (source: Connor Hughes)

Jaxson Dart: “There are a lot of things working against quarterback Dart early in camp. He's learning a new offense, doesn't have Nabers in live drills and the structure of practice prohibits endless freelancing, which is perhaps what he does best. So it has been a struggle. The offense has failed to put together many big days in practice throughout the summer.” (source: Jordan Raanan)

Jaguars

From ESPN's Jaguars training camp article today:

Who has been the top performer so far at camp?

“WR Parker Washington has been QB Trevor Lawrence's favorite target, and he always seems to be open. While the first-team offense has mainly faced the second-team defense in 11-on-11 work, Washington also has thrived in one-on-ones against the Jaguars' top corners. The last time the Jaguars matched the first-team offense against the first-team defense, Washington beat CB Travis Hunter at the line of scrimmage and caught a deep pass down the sideline for a touchdown. Washington, who had three 100-yard games in the final four games (including playoffs) last season, has established himself as the Jaguars' WR1.” (source: Michael DiRocco)

More Jaguars updates:

“And let's start with Brian Thomas Jr. because there's been a lot of talk this offseason about does he have a home in Jacksonville? It's been made clear to me that he does. They value him a ton. He's gonna play X receiver a bunch. And they learned last year that his strength is not necessarily going over the middle of the field, taking physicality. They want him to go deep. Think about all the LA Rams roots in this offense and the Jags team. Think Brandon Cooks, think Sammy Watkins. That's where they think Brian Thomas could thrive. I've been told it's night and day how he's looked in training camp this year compared to last year.” (source: Cameron Wolfe)

Brian Thomas Jr. was the MVP of the Jaguars' offseason program after stellar showings in OTAs and minicamp, and he has carried it over to what has so far amounted to the best training camp of his career. Thomas struggled at this same time last year, and all he has done so far is prove that his improvement is as real as every one could have hoped it would be.” (source: John Shipley)

Parker Washington [is] also having one of the best camps of any receiver I've heard throughout all of training camp. He's been catching everything. He's been making plays. He's going to be hard to keep off the field.” (source: Cameron Wolfe)

“The Jaguars spent plenty of chances this offseason talking about a potentially expanded role for second-year running back LeQuint Allen, who was stellar as a pass-blocker last season. Allen was one of college football's most productive pass-catching running backs while at Syracuse, and he has gotten more looks in the passing game in training camp this year than he did at this time a year ago.” (source: John Shipley)

Trevor Lawrence: “In this year's camp so far, though, [Lawrence] has shown improved accuracy downfield and in the red-zone, missing fewer passes high or overthrown than he has in past training camps.” (source: John Shipley)

Jets

“Can Geno Smith and the passing game get off the ground? They added some weapons, drafting TE Kenyon Sadiq and WR Omar Cooper Jr. in the first round, but this has been a slow-go for Smith & Co. On some days, Smith looks fantastic. Other days, not so much.” (source: Rich Cimini)

“Now with Geno Smith in tow, Mason Taylor is beginning to make more and more plays throughout practice. In the last two days of joint work with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Taylor has caught three touchdown passes and has found himself consistently open over the middle of the field. His ability to find the soft spot in zones is also something Jets' quarterbacks are appreciating more each day.” (source: Nick Faria)

Isaiah Williams: “Throughout camp, last season's top return specialist, according to Pro Football Focus, has been a central cog in New York's passing offense.” (source: Nick Faria)

Lions

Amon-Ra St. Brown: “Keep an eye this season on where St. Brown lines up this season. You could see him in the slot more.” (source: James Palmer)

Panthers

From ESPN's Panthers training camp article today:

Who is the Panthers' top performer so far at camp?

“Third-year wide receiver Jalen Coker's immediate returns after receiving a three-year, $34 million contract extension in July have made the Carolina Panthers' brass look wise this summer. The former undrafted playmaker has gotten open with regularity and caught the ball cleanly and consistently throughout training camp. Coker has looked dynamic opposite Tetairoa McMillan, who has impressed in his own right.” (source: Mike Kaye)

More Panthers updates:

“Dave Canales says MRI showed Chuba Hubbard has a hamstring injury. He'll be week to week. Canales feels confident he'll be ready for Week 1, but 'we're going to be smart about it.'” (source: Kassidy Hill)

“Tight end Darren Waller didn't make his practice debut on Thursday because he had to undergo a physical” (source: Mike Kaye)

Patriots

Eli Raridon: “By the end of the season, I could see something like a 75/35 percent split between Henry and Raridon, assuming they share the field in 12 personnel a solid chunk of time.” (source: Doug Kyed)

Raiders

“Look for a lot of 2 TE sets. The offense will run through Bowers, but Michael Mayer has slimmed down and will be a receiving target as well.” (source: James Palmer)

Rams

Did not practice today: Puka Nacua (psoas)

“Sean McVay said WR Puka Nacua left Tuesday's joint practice with Cowboys with soreness in his psoas. McVay also said he expects Nacua to be back at practice next week "ready to go." (Cleveland Clinic defines psoas as "long, ribbon-shaped muscle in your back. It starts at your lower back and runs through your pelvis to the top of your femur")” (source: Stu Jackson)

Ty Simpson: “Heading into the first preseason game, it appears that Bennett will be the team's backup quarterback going into the season, and Simpson will serve as the third-string quarterback.” (source: Sarah Barshop)

Ravens

From ESPN's Ravens training camp article today:

Who has been the Ravens' top performer so far at camp?

“Wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane. The rookie third-round pick has put together one of the best camps ever by a Ravens rookie, delivering a highlight reel catch almost every day. In going against Baltimore's top defenders, Lane has shown speed, leaping ability and a huge catch radius.” (source: Jamison Hensley)

More Ravens updates:

“Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson produced his sharpest practice of training camp. Jackson completed 11-of-12 passes (91.6%) in team drills and 7-on-7 sessions.” (source: Jamison Hensley)

Saints

Did not practice today: Kendre Miller (back), Devin Neal (hamstring)

“New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson left practice with an injury Thursday and didn't return. Saints coach Kellen Moore said Tyson suffered a leg/lower body injury, but did not disclose further information. "We'll get more information and we'll probably have a better idea tomorrow," Moore said.” (source: Katherine Terrell)

“The Saints came away from their joint practice against the Jaguars with positivity on both sides of the ball. The offense had one of their best days of camp.” (source: Katherine Terrell)

Seahawks

From ESPN's Seahawks training camp article today:

Who has been the Seahawks' top performer so far at camp?

“The offense in general has been impressive considering the transition to new coordinator Brian Fleury and the fact that it faces the league's best scoring defense from 2025 every day in practice. In terms of individuals, we'll give the nod to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The league's leading receiver from last season and the reigning AP Offensive Player of the Year has remained an almost-unstoppable force. Rashid Shaheed is the deep threat in Seattle's offense, but QB Sam Darnold has connected with JSN on several down-field shots this summer.” (source: Brady Henderson)

Titans

Carnell Tate is real. It's not just the talent. The IQ is off the charts and the Titans have noticed. He's going to be huge for Ward.” (source: James Palmer)

Nick Singleton: “Singleton has shown me enough in the last week or so of practice to think he’ll see the field more than I originally anticipated. He might be developing from an understanding and running back vision standpoint faster than I expected.” (source: Easton Freeze)

Vikings

From ESPN's Vikings training camp article today:

Who is the Vikings' top performer so far at camp?

“Receiver Tai Felton has demonstrated remarkable improvement from his rookie year, when he struggled to catch the ball consistently in training camp and wound up with a near-exclusive special teams role during the season. ... Is Felton the Vikings' best player? Of course not. But no one has opened more eyes since camp began. He'll push veteran No. 3 receiver Jauan Jennings for playing time.” (source: Kevin Seifert)

More Vikings updates:

Jordan Mason has been the star of the Vikings offense this week. While he carries the label of an up-the-middle power back, Mason is showing what he’s capable of when he’s able to turn loose on the outside. The 27-year-old back has had multiple breakaway runs in just the last two days, showcasing a level of speed we’ve rarely seen from his runs up the gut. It seems clear that Mason is a beneficiary of Frank Smith’s newly implemented outside zone scheme.” (source: Jason Harmon)

Kyler Murray: “Most importantly, he continues to build rapport with star receiver Justin Jefferson. The two connected on another big play on Wednesday as Murray hit Jefferson deep over the middle. After experiencing a career-low year for yards and touchdowns in 2025, Jefferson seems determined to get on the same page with Murray quickly.” (source: Jason Harmon)

Articles that missed the cut

Here are some articles I came across that I didn't find any fantasy relevant quotes in, but were interesting to me. Some headlines are written by me here because they are either way too long or don't give the full context.

Player Updates from Beat Writers & National Reporters (8/12)

I’ve been keeping track of fantasy relevant news and updates from beat writers. Here's a recap of any quote or update that stood out to me today. Some of these are micro/macro, some are redraft focused and some are dynasty focused.

I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person. Let me know if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I’ve also been asking beat writers fantasy relevant questions through their mailbags whenever possible.

If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @FantasyTags.

Note: Every update has the writer's name with a source link that will direct you to the website where I read the quote. If you see an italicized link, that will be specifically for something on Twitter/X.

Bengals

  • Colbie Young: “Young established one truth through 10 days: He can go get it. That’s a delightful trait to own, especially at his size. It also won’t dictate how much playing time he receives this year. Young will be judged by his ability to block in the run game, understand the system and find separation when given an opportunity. It’s extremely hard to see him topping Andrei Iosivas and all his experience in that regard.” (source: Paul Dehner Jr.)
  • Jack Endries: “His opportunities have been limited in a deep room. He arrived with his reputation as a pass-catching tight end. He’s enjoyed a few moments in that role, but needs to be stronger at the point of attack to play more well-rounded” (source: Paul Dehner Jr.)

Broncos

  • Jaylen Waddle, Marvin Mims did not practice, worked on side field. J.K. Dobbins practiced for a second-straight day. (source: Zac Stevens)

Browns

  • Deshaun Watson will get the first shot during the Browns' matchup against the Bears in Chicago to kick off the preseason on Aug. 15. Shedeur Sanders will then start the second game of the preseason against the Bills on Aug. 22.” (source: Kelsey Russo)

Buccaneers

  • “After a quiet start to the joint practice with the Jets on Tuesday, Ted Hurst III had a great day on Wednesday and was targeted a bunch. He only had one drop, but made several catches – mostly on the slant passes – that moved the chains for Tampa Bay’s offense.” (source: Scott Reynolds)
  • “It’s a toe sprain for Emeka Egbuka. Won’t know the severity until after imaging results come back.” (source: Rick Stroud)

Cardinals

  • Trey Benson: “Benson needed to have a strong training camp to make the Cardinals think twice about moving on from him, especially after adding Jeremiyah Love and Tyler Allgeier this offseason. The results? Benson barely practiced during team drills thanks to his ongoing recovery from meniscus surgery while Bam Knight clearly established himself ahead in the pecking order.” (source: Donnie Druin)
  • Marvin Harrison Jr. bounced back nicely after early camp drops while Michael Wilson continues to steadily make plays. Kendrick Bourne, a free agent arrival, has quietly been a playmaker during camp, too.” (source: Donnie Druin)

Commanders

  • “It’s only practice, and only against the Dolphins, but Washington QB Jayden Daniels looks sharp. His throws are strong and on target down the field. He’s shown off his same, old mobility, too.” (source: Ralph Vacchiano)
  • “Quarterback Jayden Daniels has jumped out because of his comfort level in the offense. Early in camp, there was more mixed results, but lately it's been almost all good. He's throwing in rhythm, keeping his eyes downfield when he gets outside the pocket and has been smooth running play-action from under center.” (source: John Keim)

Dolphins

  • HC Jeff Hafley: “Dolphins rookie WR Caleb Douglas has probably been one of our most consistent guys” (source: Marcel Louis-Jacques)
  • Caleb Douglas: “Douglas had several explosive plays in the passing game across the 1 on 1, 7 on 7, and team periods of the practice.” (source: Kyle Crabbs)

Eagles

  • Saquon Barkley: “As for the notion that he will have more opportunities as a receiver, that hasn’t been the case through most of camp.” (source: Jeff McLane)
  • Hollywood Brown has been underwhelming so far.” (source: Jeff McLane)

Falcons

  • Michael Penix Jr.: “Per Stefanski, Penix will continue at the pace he is on when the Falcons travel to Indianapolis next week to face the Colts in joint practices prior to their second preseason game. Penix will participate in individual drills, 1-on-1s and 7-on-7s. He will not participate in team, 11-on-11 work.” (source: Tori McElhaney)
  • Tua Tagovailoa will start Friday night in the team's preseason opener against the Denver Broncos, coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday. That does not necessarily mean Tagovailoa will be the starter Week 1, though. Despite the decision to start Tagovailoa on Friday, Stefanski said it's still too early to tab a starting quarterback for the regular season.” (source: Marc Raimondi)

Giants

  • Malik Nabers will likely be doing team periods ‘soon,’ per John Harbaugh. Perhaps next week. That's likely 7-on-7s and other drills.” (source: Jordan Raanan)

Jaguars

  • Chris Rodriguez Jr. looks like he will have no issues when it comes to Week 1, with the veteran running back getting more and more looks in team drills since starting training camp only doing positional drill work. He has impressed, too, and he has made a mark since the pads have come on.” (source: John Shipley)

Jets

  • “Tuesday was the best day of training camp for second-year tight end Mason Taylor. … More importantly, Taylor lived over the middle of the field and caught several passes on the day with large completions. Without any drops, the LSU product showed why he is a key cog in the Jets' passing offense today.” (source: Nick Faria)
  • Isiah Williams: “Isaiah Williams is trending ahead of Omar Cooper but would caution anyone panicking about that. Receivers take time to develop.” (source: Nick Faria)

Raiders

Ravens

  • “With his top two wide receivers sidelined during team drills, Jackson looked for rookie Ja’Kobi Lane early and often Wednesday. Unofficially, Jackson finished 8-for-16 overall, including a 3-for-5 mark in seven-on-seven periods. Lane garnered six of those targets, catching two.” (source: Giana Han and Jonas Shaffer)

Saints

  • “For as much as the offense has struggled to find its rhythm throughout this training camp, running back Travis Etienne looks as much like the real deal as he can without the contextual benefit of live tackling.” (source: Luke Johnson)
  • “Rookie receiver Bryce Lance has put together a couple nice practices now, and Wednesday he showed off his improved physicality when he made a leaping catch through contact in the end zone for a 30-yard touchdown from Spencer Rattler.” (source: Luke Johnson)

Seahawks

  • Jadarian Price was back for the first time in 5 practices, participated in walkthrough with the starting offense (source: Gregg Bell)

Steelers

  • Roman Wilson: “Wilson’s career reached a crossroads after two underwhelming seasons, including last year when he was a healthy scratch. Through camp, he’s firmly in the WR3 role in three-receiver sets. McCarthy noted that Wilson’s speed gives the Steelers a threat over the top, and he’s progressed on the option routes, underneath patterns and big crossers.” (source: Mike DeFabo)
  • Pat Freiermuth: “After playing a career-low 51 percent of the snaps in 2025, Freiermuth appears to be a more central piece of the offensive game plan. In particular, the tight end from Penn State has been a go-to target during the two-minute drill, especially over the middle of the field.” (source: Mike DeFabo)
  • Eli Heidenreich: “However, his chances of making the 53-man roster seem dim. He’s currently the sixth running back in the rotation.” (source: Mike DeFabo)
  • Kaleb Johnson: “After a disappointing rookie season, we’re still waiting to see the spark from Johnson. He’s still in contention for the RB3 job, but he’s rarely creating more than what’s blocked.” (source: Mike DeFabo)

Titans

  • “There's a close race for top performer between second-year receiver Elic Ayomanor and rookie wideout Carnell Tate. Ayomanor reported to camp with a more-chiseled physique and an aggressive approach to playing the position. He has consistently made catches on back-shoulder throws and go routes” (source: Turron Davenport)
  • “The Titans won't admit it, but Tuesday was a wake-up call, especially for the offense after a spicy joint practice with the 49ers. San Francisco's pass rush was consistently harassing Titans quarterback Cam Ward despite the absence of premier pass rusher Nick Bosa due to knee tendinitis.” (source: Turron Davenport)

Vikings

  • “On the day he was announced as the Vikings’ starting quarterback, Kyler Murray provided some on-field evidence to support that decision. Whether the news gave him a boost of confidence or not, Murray went out and had one of his best days of training camp so far. He looked the part of QB1 in a practice where he completed 15 of his 16 pass attempts.” (source: Will Ragatz)
  • “It's been two days now that Kyler Murray has practiced with the title of QB1 for the Minnesota Vikings, and if those two days are any indication, 2026 is going to be a very fun time in Minnesota” (source: Jason Harmon)
  • “And if you’re looking for a young offensive guy who could break through, third-rounder Tai Felton could be your guy. He’s a burner, was a good special-teamer as a rookie and has made major strides as a route-runner working with receivers coach Keenan McCardell.” (source: Albert Breer)

Articles that missed the cut

Here are some articles I came across that I didn't find any fantasy relevant quotes in, but were interesting to me. Some headlines are written by me here because they are either way too long or don't give the full context.

Thoughts/Random Nuggets

  • Jameson Williams has reportedly looked very good at Lions camp
  • Charlie Kolar is another name to keep an eye on, saw Coachspeak Index and Gregg Rosenthal both mention him

Player Updates from Beat Writers & National Reporters (8/11)

Note: I am so sorry this was later than usual today. I may have missed some teams I normally would have gotten around to as well. It's been a nightmare day for me as our A/C compressor went out (need a whole new unit, this one is 30 years old) and our fiber line got damaged so I was without internet for awhile. I should be able to read more and produce a better version tomorrow.

I have been keeping track of all fantasy relevant info/updates from beat writers. Here is a recap of most things I've posted about on my page today, and some of my own thoughts on things I've read about since I started doing this. Some of these are micro/macro, some are redraft focused and some are dynasty focused. I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person. Let me know if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I have been trying to ask fantasy relevant questions to beat writers whenever they post about mailbags. If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @FantasyTags (was not updated today, sorry)

Also, due to this subreddit's rules I can not post the source links, but if you want to find my same thread over on the DynastyFF subreddit, I do have them listed there.

49ers

  • "Mike Evans was back from his quad injury, though he didn't do much beyond individual drills." (source: Nick Wagoner)
  • "RB Christian McCaffrey watched the practice in street clothes and, like Bosa, Shanahan indicated there's no worry about the tightness McCaffrey is battling. Shanahan said he'd be more concerned if McCaffrey tried to play through it and risked making it worse." (source: Nick Wagoner)
  • "Never saw Deebo Samuel split the position drill portion of practice between running backs and wide receivers during his first stint with the 49ers. But he did just that today — was a good visualization of a role that’ll be even more versatile than his first time with the team" (source: David Lombard)
  • "After a slow start for the unit, QB Brock Purdy continued his strong camp by carving through the Titans secondary for much of the joint practice session, particularly in the latter half of the session. I had Purdy at 21-of-27 on the day, including multiple touchdown passes and no interceptions." (source: Nick Wagoner)

Bengals

  • "I saw multiple snaps of running back Chase Brown lined up in the slot, flying across the formation in jet motion as if he were a receiver. Again, the Bengals are very comfortable just trying stuff out on offense at this stage of the summer. But Brown did have 45 snaps in the slot (and another 25 out wide) last season as the Bengals prefer to use him as a pass catcher and not a pass protector." (source: Ben Solak)

Bills

  • "Keep an eye out for updates on running back Ty Johnson, whom the Bills love as a third-down pass catcher -- he pulled up because of an injury during the Bills' stadium practice Saturday. My sense was already that the Bills want to involve James Cook III more in the passing game this season, and if Johnson is at all limited going forward, that drumbeat will only get louder." (source: Ben Solak)
  • "Will the Bills use James Cook more as a receiver this year? Certainly seems like it when you hear from OC Pete Carmichael. I’m expecting at least 50 receptions for Cook this year" (source: Alex Brasky)
  • DJ Moore: "But when I asked around about the plan for Moore's usage in this offense, I heard a lot about deep- and intermediate-breaking routes. Internally, the Bills say that they should be a lot more productive off play-action given how dominant their running game has been in the past few seasons, and Moore is the first guy up for those one-on-one downfield opportunities." (source: Ben Solak)

Broncos

  • Jaylen Waddle remains out of practice, JK Dobbins returned to practice doing individual drills (source: Ryan Edwards)

Browns

  • Denzel Boston: "Watching Boston move at camp made it immediately evident to me that he has the sufficient speed, and everything else looks as promised. The last time I left a camp feeling this way about a rookie pass catcher was in 2023 after Lions camp. I watched a second-round tight end named Sam LaPorta snag every Jared Goff pass -- inaccurate, into contact, down the field -- with reliable hands and pro-level consistency." (source: Ben Solak)
  • "Don't let Browns first-round receiver KC Concepcion fade in Boston's spotlight. He also looks plenty ready for NFL action." (source: Ben Solak)

Buccaneers

  • "Chris Godwin Jr. continues to have a very steady, impressive training camp. He just finds ways to get open and catch the ball and has great chemistry with Baker Mayfield. Like he was on Sunday, Godwin was the most active Bucs receiver and probably received the most amount of targets, working the middle of the field and picking up first downs." (source: Scott Reynolds)
  • Emeka Egbuka: "Egbuka was the primary red zone target for Mayfield on Tuesday and it was good to see him cash one in for a score after an up-and-down start to training camp." (source: Scott Reynolds)

Chiefs

  • "Cyrus Allen (shin) appeared to be a full participant in practice once again. Rashee Rice (knee) and Xavier Worthy (shoulder) still seem to be in some sort of load management ramp-up" (source: Charles Goldman)
  • Kenneth Walker: "In fact, while Walker's vision and contact balance have been consistently impressive throughout the Chiefs' time in St. Joseph, his ability as a pass-catcher has flashed nearly every day, too, and Monday's practice was no exception." (source: Matt McMullen)
  • "At this point, the Cyrus Allen noise is probably getting old for fans. They’ve been burnt many times before on the training camp hype. It just seems like every day he is making strides. KC Star reporter Pete Sweeney noted that Allen had back-to-back receptions on the first pair of plays from Mahomes during the 11-on-11 blitz period. Both were impressive catches near the sideline, including a back shoulder grab where he was isolated 1-on-1." (source: Charles Goldman)
  • Rashee Rice: "Rice’s training camp hasn’t gone perfectly. He started practices appearing to favor his right knee, while not sure whether he could trust himself to fully accelerate following surgery. That burst has looked better over the past week, though, as he’s returned to full team drills and has quickly become one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ favorite targets again." (source: Jesse Newell)

Colts

  • "In determining the winner of the backup quarterback role, Steichen announced that quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. will start Thursday's preseason opener against the Patriots and play the first half, while Riley Leonard will play the second half. The roles will reverse next week against the Atlanta Falcons." (source: Jake Arthur)
  • "Tight end Tyler Warren was one of the most commonly mentioned players by both sides of the media, catching numerous passes in both 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s. He essentially carried the passing game during the late-game drill and was commended by head coach Shane Steichen afterward." (source: Jake Arthur)

Commanders

  • Terry McLaurin, Stefon Diggs, and Ben Sinnott did not practice (source: John Keim)

Cowboys

  • "I don't know exactly how many balls tight end Jake Ferguson caught the day I was there, but it felt like close to 1,000. Look, I'm not going to sit here and tell you whether George Pickens is going to catch more passes than Lamb. The Cowboys like second-year running back Jaydon Blue, but I don't think he's a threat to Javonte Williams' workload. Ryan Flournoy is their third receiver and they trust him, so he could be a fantasy factor if one of the top two wideouts are injured." (source: Dan Graziano)
  • "In an up and down day for the offense, Cowboys WR George Pickens seemed to have another strong practice to go along with what's been a good camp as he heads into his second season with Dallas." (source: Dalas Cowboys Website)

Dolphins

  • "Caleb Douglas has shown high levels of production after 10 practices during training camp, making his case to be a major contributor off the rip." (source: Jake Gibson)

Eagles

  • "Quarterback Jalen Hurts is looking like a viable dual threat again. The session I attended was a lighter day, but Hurts executed a designed run multiple times, and he looks as if he's moving well. A team source agreed, noting Hurts looks "quicker and faster."" (source: Jeremy Fowler)
  • Jalen Hurts: "This is the most we have seen Hurts run bootlegs from under center, though. This is the most defenders have chased him laterally. That this is creating observations of a “faster” Hurts adds to the pile of favorable evidence that the QB is a fit in this new system." (source: Brooks Kubena)
  • "Dontayvion Wicks is more than a camp standout. The former Packer should be a big factor in the passing game. Multiple people with the team brought up his legit play unprompted. Wicks has length and the ability to high-point the ball, and Hurts throws a good deep ball." (source: Jeremy Fowler)
  • "One of Jalen Hurts’ best throws of the day was on an out route to the sideline for Dontayvion Wicks. The timing on the throw was perfect and Wicks caught it in bounds. It has been impressive how on time these two have been together." (source: Dave Zangaro)
  • Elijah Moore: "Moore has been having a good training camp and it’ll be interesting to see what the Eagles do when they put their roster together. I think he has outplayed Hollywood Brown in camp." (source: Dave Zangaro)

Falcons

  • "Tua Tagovailoa was 7-of-7 passing in 11-on-11 team sessions Tuesday. The tight back issue seems to be in the rearview mirror and Tagovailoa is starting to show comfortability with this new offense under head coach Kevin Stefanski and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees." (source: Marc Raimondi)

Giants

  • Cam Skattebo: "Skattebo has been the first running back up in team periods on most days, with Tyrone Tracy Jr. taking the majority of snaps in two-minute drives. That figures to be a time share, with Skattebo the 1-A and Tracy the 1-B." (source: Dan Duggan)

Jaguars

  • "Brenton Strange did not practice today" (source: John Shipley)
  • "CB/WR Travis Hunter played 14 snaps in 11-on-11 work (8 defense, 6 offense) and had two catches on three targets. WR Parker Washington beat him off the line of scrimmage and hauled in a deep throw from Trevor Lawrence down the left sideline." (source: Michael DiRocco)
  • "Even on days where the defense easily has the edge, Parker Washington is still impressing. It has become a daily occurrence during training camp this season as Washington has separated himself as Trevor Lawrence's favorite target in one of the NFL's best wide receiver rooms, and this was again the case during an otherwise lackluster offensive day on Tuesday." (source: John Shipley)

Jets

  • "Though Garrett Wilson is the clear-cut No. 1 WR and is cooking with quarterback Geno Smith in camp, Adonai Mitchell should not be overlooked. The Jets are looking for Mitchell to make a sizable jump." (source: Jeremy Fowler)
  • "Fourth-round pick Cade Klubnik is eyeing the QB2 role. Good preseason performances would aid his case, and he should be able to beat out Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe. The early signs are promising." (source: Jeremy Fowler)
  • "WR Isaiah Williams, one of the stars of camp, has played his way into a bigger role. Before camp, he was viewed as a return specialist and No. 4 receiver, but that isn't the case anymore." (source: Rich Cimini)

Lions

  • "Sam LaPorta continues showing just how much Detroit missed him the second half of the 2025 season after he suffered a back injury. He's been terrific throughout the start of camp. In an early practice team period, Goff found LaPorta down the left seam for a big gain down to the nine-yard-line. The next play was a touchdown pass to LaPorta over the middle. That's been a common occurrence all through camp." (source: Tim Twentyman)

Packers

  • LaFleur on Josh Jacobs: "He's gonna be out for at least this week." (source: Weston Hodkiewicz)
  • "Out of the receiver group, with Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden as the top three, Golden has the best shot at breaking through, possessing elite hands and downfield speed." (source: Albert Breer)

Patriots

  • "Eli Raridon had four catches in full-team periods, including a crosser from Maye and multiple red zone looks." (source: Taylor Kyles)
  • "Douglas, Williams, and Efton Chism looked unguardable in 1-on-1 situations, with Douglas and Chism both coming down with high-difficulty grabs in contested situations." (source: Taylor Kyles)
  • "Rhamondre Stevenson: still very much the leader here. He took the first two hand-offs from Maye and led all backs with two catches in team drills. Stevenson’s touchdown catch in the back corner of a red-zone period was a highlight, while TreVeyon Henderson reeled in just one of three targets." (source: Andrew Callahan)

Raiders

  • "Running back Ashton Jeanty, last year's No. 6 pick, caught 55 passes for 346 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie. Multiple people told me the team expects him to be a bigger part of the passing game this season. The Raiders say that Jeanty was a tough tackle in 2025 when they got him to the second level of the defense. They just don't feel as if they did a good enough job of getting him out in space." (source: Dan Graziano)
  • But 2023 third-round pick Tre Tucker is probably the player in the group the Raiders say can take the biggest step forward this season. Second-year players Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton Jr. have been inconsistent in camp. Sixth-round rookie Malik Benson from Oregon has flashed and gotten a lot of outside attention for his performance, but he needs to show he can sustain his performance outside of a controlled practice environment. (source: Dan Graziano)

Rams

  • "Rams WR Puka Nacua, who left practice while walking with a trainer, is dealing with minor soreness in his groin, I'm told. The team is just being cautious." (source: Ian Rapoport)

Ravens

  • "Running back Derrick Henry will get his normal heavy workload this season. His coordinator comes from Chicago's third-ranked rushing attack, after all. But it might look slightly different at times. For example, Henry got out on the perimeter on designed runs a few times during the practice I saw. ... The Ravens will also try to get Henry involved in the passing game at least somewhat, though that has never been his thing in heavy doses." (source: Jeremy Fowler)
  • Lamar Jackson: "What seems clear from watching offensive coordinator Declan Doyle's offense is that Baltimore wants chunk plays. Jackson, who was working from under center often, was aggressively throwing downfield when the timing was right, sometimes from play-action." (source: Jeremy Fowler)

Saints

  • “Stop overreacting to everything (good or bad) until we see the team against another opponent. Only thing I know for sure is that Jordyn Tyson is a dawg. Other than that, just wait and see.“ (source: Nick Underhill)
  • "Audric Estime got some extended run with the 1s. First time we’ve seen that. Etienne had a few nice moments, including an effective screen (10-plus) in the final red zone set." (source: Jeff Nowak)

Seahawks

  • "Jadarian Price returned to practice in limited fashion for #Seahawks today. He was running on a side field, along with cornerback Julian Neal. It's a positive first step to getting back into full action." (source: Corbin K. Smith)
  • "The running back rotation will feature "two, possibly three guys in a game plan," Macdonald told me, starting with the preseason. That muddles the fantasy picture a bit. But Jadarian Price will be hard to keep off the field. Macdonald says Price "doesn't feel like a rookie" based on his attention to detail and coachability." (source: Jeremy Fowler)
  • AJ Barner: "Barner is an ascending tight end who should come into his own in Year 3. He's finally healthy after multiple offseason surgeries. And Fleury's offense should accelerate his progress. Barner can do a little bit of everything. But he made a point to emphasize another tight end when asked about up-and-comers on the roster: Elijah Arroyo. "Tremendously talented player," Barner said. 'Year 2, you get more comfortable.'" (source: Jeremy Fowler)
  • "The Seahawks will have two tight ends on the field "very, very often," according to tight end AJ Barner. That position will help facilitate the motions and shifts, a staple of the San Francisco offense from which Fleury came." (source: Jeremy Fowler)

Steelers

  • “With WRs Michael Pittman Jr. and DK Metcalf out of practice for a second day in a row, rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard said he worked with the first team offense again. Rodgers said Bernard has a ‘really bright future,’ but acknowledged the wide receiver still has a lot of learning to do. ‘Germie just needs to learn the offense inside and out,’ Rodgers said. ‘And when he does that, he has a lot of great physical traits. He can get his feet in the ground quickly. He’s very sudden. He’s got natural hands. He’s a great kid.’” (source: Brooke Pryor)
  • Aaron Rodgers continues to praise WR Roman Wilson: ‘He’s making plays. He’s confident. The personality starts to come out. He’s joking around more with you in the locker room. I just love that. I love to see guys really come into their own.’” (source: Brooke Pryor)
  • "But given the conversations I had while I was there, I'm confident the identity of the 2026 Steelers will be similar to the identity of the 2025 Steelers -- running the ball out of heavy sets. For fantasy, this means a few things. I can't get a lean on Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle, but I'm confident both will be used enough to be playable in any given week." (source: Ben Solak)

Titans

  • "Running back Nick Singleton got a lot of work, and he continues to impress me. Singleton busted into space on a number of runs, just like he's been doing in practices in Nashville." (source: Jim Wyatt)

Fantasy Football Player Updates from Beat Writers (8/10)

I have been keeping track of all fantasy relevant info/updates from beat writers. Here is a recap of most things I've posted about on my page today, and some of my own thoughts on things I've read about since I started doing this. Some of these are micro/macro, some are redraft focused and some are dynasty focused. I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person. Let me know if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I have been trying to ask fantasy relevant questions to beat writers whenever they post about mailbags (one today in the Steelers section). If you want to follow along, my Twitter/X account is @FantasyTags.

Note: Due to subreddit rules I had to remove the source links but they are in my post on the DynastyFF subreddit if you want to see them.

49ers

  • "Christian McCaffrey is sitting out practice today with what the team describes as ‘tightness.’" (source: Matt Maiocco)
  • on De’Zhaun Stribling: “Wide receivers coach Leonard Hankerson said Sunday the rookie has mostly worked at the F and X positions in training camp. That suggests he’ll help fill the role Jauan Jennings (F) had in recent seasons while also stepping in at times for Mike Evans (X). He hasn’t played as much Z ... Instead, it looks like that spot will go to Deebo Samuel and others.” (source: Matt Barrows)

Cardinals

  • on Jeremiyah Love: "Whether he was cutting up-field on runs or showing his prowess in either route-running or catching, Love's ability to win in either the pass or ground game was fully on display with the first-team offense today." (source: Donnie Druin)
  • "It’s clear that this staff is focused on creating advantageous matchups/positions for Jeremiyah Love. So many motions with him, both into and out of the backfield. Tyler Allgeier’s package has been much more static." (source: Theo Mackie)
  • "Arizona Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort on Michael Wilson extension talks: ‘We want Michael here for a long time.’" (source: Bo Brack)

Bears

  • "If there’s a breakthrough coming from an offensive player here, I’d circle tight end Colston Loveland’s name. His work ethic, toughness and intelligence have shone through this offseason, and he has flashed some Travis Kelce-type traits—Kelce is probably bigger, broader and stronger, while Loveland is smoother and faster—that have everyone excited about his second year." (source: Albert Breer)
  • "Luther Burden, who suffered a groin injury Saturday, is currently expected to miss about a month, sources tell @CBSSports. The hope is that he’ll be back and available for Chicago’s season opener vs. the Panthers" (source: Matt Zenitz)

Bills

  • Ty Johnson and Skyler Bell did not practice today (source: Matt Parrino)

Broncos

  • J.K. Dobbins left the Broncos practice field with trainers, Sean Payton says he suffered a soft tissue injury and "believes he'll be fine" (source: Zac Stevens)
  • Marvin Mims remained limited in practice, Jaylen Waddle did not practice but did work off to the side

Browns

  • Todd Monken told reporters today that Denzel Boston will be getting more work with the starting offense

Chargers

  • Mike McDaniel on the running back share between Omarion Hampton, Kimani Vidal and Keaton Mitchell: “Bad news, fantasy owners. Good news is I see all three of those guys producing at a very high level. Bad news is I can’t tell you which games those are.” He said he’ll probably use all three every game, with the workload depending on the opponent and “hot hand.” (source: Kris Rhim)

Chiefs

  • on Cyrus Allen: "Overall, the hype for Allen feels much more real than any recent training camp hype for a Chiefs receiver. He’s doing all the different things you need to do to stand out and earn a prominent role in the offense." (source: Charles Goldman)

Colts

  • on Seth McGowan: “The rookie seventh-round pick has emerged as Indy’s top backup running back, thanks to his bruising running style and soft hands out of the backfield. He’ll need to prove himself in pass protection to carve out a consistent role, but former Colts coach and current radio analyst Rick Venturi has already dubbed McGowan “the steal of the draft,” and the football lifer may be on to something.” (source: James Boyd)

Commanders

  • "David Blough on Jayden Daniels: ‘he’s as accurate as he’s ever been.’" (source: John Keim)

Dolphins

  • Kevin Coleman Jr. will not practice this week (source: C. Isaiah Smalls II)
  • Greg Dulcich was a full participant at practice today (source: C. Isaiah Smalls II)

Eagles

  • "Darius Cooper is putting together an unreal practice. He’s got like five catches in three periods, and they’ve all been different. Digs, outs, crossers, and a go ball from Jalen Hurts just now for a big gain against Riq Woolen and Michael Carter. Best player out here today." (source: EJ Smith)
  • on Darius Cooper: "It’s not hyperbole if some think Cooper has been the best and most consistent Eagles receiver of training camp." (source: Dave Zangaro)
  • DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon remain out of practice with hamstring injuries (source: Zach Berman)

Jaguars

  • "I have come away from the first two weeks of camp believing [Parker] Washington will lead the Jaguars' wideouts in routes and snaps this year, and I think he is the target who will often stay on the field when the Jaguars go to two- and one-wide receiver sets in 12 and 13 formations." (source: John Shipley)
  • "[Bhayshul] Tuten and [Chris] Rodriguez are getting near-equal reps, while [LeQuint] Allen has been the Jaguars' top option on all passing downs in camp. That sounds more like a room that is about to spread the wealth than a room that is set to lean on just one face." (source: John Shipley)
  • "What has been clear through the first two weeks of camp, however, is that the Jaguars are prepared for [Travis] Hunter to play a significant role on both sides of the ball." (source: John Shipley)

Jets

  • on Garrett Wilson: “One thing is clear: Wilson is a focal point of the passing attack. The Jets and offensive coordinator Frank Reich want to get him the ball. He’ll see his targets – even more as the relationship with Smith grows.” (source: Connor Hughes)
  • on Braelon Allen: "We've also reached the point in training camp where Allen's success looks like he is on the cusp of a breakout season. We've been here before, though, and will need to see him continue his strong play when game action begins." (source: Nick Faria)

Lions

  • "RB Isiah Pacheco has an MCL sprain but should be good to go by the start of the regular season, per Campbell" (source: Tim Twentyman)

Packers

  • Matthew Golden (toe), Jayden Reed (foot), Josh Jacobs (groin) all remain out at Packers practice (source: Weston Hodkiewicz)

Patriots

  • Patriots signed TE Hunter Henry to a two-year, $16 million extension (source: Adam Schefter)

Raiders

  • "Despite Mendoza having an overall solid day with the first team, Cousins still has a strong edge in the race to be QB1. He has played solely with the starters, as expected, and has looked better than Mendoza and Aidan O'Connell." (source: Ryan McFadden)
  • "The way Cousins has relied heavily on Bowers in practice indicates that the All-Pro pass catcher is in line for a big season, and the passing game will go as far as he takes it." (source: Ryan McFadden)
  • "Kubiak wants Jeanty to be a bell-cow running back. But [Mike] Washington has shown that he could be a major factor, as well. Washington has split reps with the first and second team. There have been moments when he has used his 6-foot-2, 228-pound size and speed to create big plays." (source: Ryan McFadden)
  • "[Malik] Benson has outplayed second-year wideouts Dont'e Thornton Jr. and Jack Bech. Thornton has struggled so far, with a fair number of his reps coming with the second and third teams. He has been nonexistent whenever on the field and has had a hard time creating separation from defenders." (source: Ryan McFadden)
  • "Malik Benson continues to flash. Aside from the Nailor TD, he had the highlight of practice: a leaping, acrobatic grab over Darien Porter on the left sideline. Worked with 1s, 2s and 3s today" (source: Sam Warren)

Ravens

  • on Mark Andrews: “Most of Andrews’ catches have come on throws less than 10 yards downfield; he’s struggled to get Jackson’s attention in his usual sweet spot, between the inside linebackers and safeties. Drops have also been a recurring problem for Andrews.” (source: Jonas Shaffer)

Saints

  • "If Tyler Shough is who we think he is, I don't think it's outlandish to think that Jordyn Tyson could have a massive rookie year." (source: Nick Underhill)

Seahawks

  • Jadarian Price did not practice today (source: Corbin Smith)

Steelers

  • Eli Heidenreich did individual drills today, but still no team drills. Michael Pittman and DK Metcalf did not practice today (source: Nick Farabaugh)

Texans

  • Tank Dell participated in full team drills (source: Aaron Wilson)

Titans

  • "Wan'Dale Robinson caught four more passes on Sunday, and through the eight training camp practices has a team-high 26 grabs. The next closest is Elic Ayomanor (21), then Spears (19). If you're wondering, Tate has 16." (source: Jim Wyatt)

Vikings

  • "If you are searching for standouts at training camp, look for [Jordan] Mason. The 27-year-old returned this summer in exceptional shape, and his explosiveness shows up in team drills. O’Connell trusts Aaron Jones implicitly, but Mason’s burst and vision fit perfectly with the overhauled run concepts." (source: Alex Lewis)
  • "I still think Murray has to be considered the favorite to win the job. But at some point, the Vikings will want to see him show consistent execution within their offense across multiple days in a row. At the very least, McCarthy is making things interesting." (source: Will Ragatz)

My Thoughts

  • Parker Washington really seems like he's going to be THE guy for the Jags at receiver this season. I've also read that they're looking into extending him. I recommend targeting him in all types of fantasy drafts and dynasty leagues.
  • Though Caleb Douglas appears to be having a solid training camp for the Dolphins, I've seen multiple writers mention that he has an issue with drops and that it's something he needs to improve on.
  • J.J. McCarthy "won" the practice last night for the Vikings, but the consensus I have gathered from reading multiple Vikings beat writers is that neither McCarthy nor Kyler Murray has been consistent and they both need to show more.
  • Pat Bryant has been the star at Broncos camp from everything I've seen, he keeps stacking days and continues to get a lot of buzz from their writers
  • For deeper dynasty leagues, u/wayoffsideteam mentioned that WR Tai Felton is a name to keep an eye on for the Vikings. Update on him today via Matthew Coller: “Felton is making plays every single day now”
  • I know it's the team's PR staff that puts out the depth charts, but the Texans released one today, and something that stood out to me was that Jaylin Noel is listed behind Xavier Hutchinson.

Fantasy Football Player Updates from Beat Writers (8/8)

I have been keeping track of all fantasy relevant info/updates from beat writers. Here is a recap of most things I've posted about on my page today, and some of my own thoughts on things I've read about since I started doing this. Some of these are micro/macro, some are redraft focused and some are dynasty focused. I am sure I missed things, as I am just one person, so let me know in the comments what I missed or if you have any suggestions or something else you'd like to see. I have been trying ask fantasy relevant questions to beat writers whenever they post about mailbags. If you want to follow along, my account is @FantasyTags

Note: Due to subreddit rules I had to remove the source links but they are in my post on the DynastyFF subreddit if you want to see them.

Need help, my wife was banned from Fortnite for 1 year

FINAL UPDATE 6/25 9:06am: Email was received 30 minutes ago, they stated the ban was applied incorrectly and has been removed from my wife’s account. Thank you to everyone who believed me and upvoted this post for exposure.

My wife is 33 years old and I am 35. We are the most casual of Fortnite players. We only play Zero Build. Usually duo, sometimes trio or squads if our friends want to play. We’ve both been paying for Fortnite Crew since 2023. She wakes up today and sees an email from Epic saying she’s been banned for 1 year. Email is above (blacked out the ID and her name).

She doesn’t cheat, and we don’t have any software installed that could even do something like that. We haven’t downloaded any new software on her PC in a long time. She usually has MSI Center running to control her fan speeds and Logitech G Hub for her Yeti Mic.

She sent an appeal in but has another had success reaching out to them directly? Not sure what else to do, she is heartbroken as we play Fortnite almost daily and have put a ton of money into her account. You can check my Reddit history to see I’m old as shit, have been on here for 12+ years. I again promise you her or I do not cheat, I searched some old threads and see lots of comments being like “yeah you cheated buddy get rekt” but I promise you we wouldn’t know the first step to take to cheat.

Edit 6/24/26 2:04pm: We have 2 factor authentication on her account so I can say for sure it wasn’t someone falsely using her account. She hasn’t downloaded anything recently so it’s not malware. Some other programs that run in the background are iCue, Spotify, Discord, Razer Synapse, Steelseries GG, Steam, Battle.net, Elgato Stream Deck

Edit 6/24/26 2:14pm: Just ran a scan with Windows Defender to check for Malware, nothing was found.

Edit 6/24/26 6:55pm: Imgur link to what the ban says in game

For anyone wondering. She plays on her own PC, on her own Epic account. She plays using mouse and keyboard. She doesn’t mod or cheat on any other game. Other games we play are Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Valorant, Hunt Showdown. She doesn’t do any exploits in game. We play Zero Build almost 100% of the time.

Edit 6/24/26 11:12pm: Last update for tonight. I just want to say thank you all for the exposure on the issue. I appreciate everyone’s upvotes and responses. I’ve gotten some good feedback and advice. I thank everyone for taking time out of your day to leave a comment trying to help and offer advice. Hope we hear back tomorrow on the appeal. I will keep updating this thread if anyone sees this going forward.
