So I saw the “Revenge Dress” at Sotheby’s HK today

It’s located at a mall with a lot of foot traffic in Central. Got really close and stared at it for quite a bit.

From Sotheby’s website:

‘The Revenge Dress’ is due to be auctioned on Dec. 9 in New York, with an estimate of US$150,000-$300,000.

They believe it will far exceed the estimated price as a sweater was auctioned at USD1.1 million before. And this dress is one of the, if not the most, iconic pieces of hers.

I’m personally not a fan of this dress itself, but I can definitely see the historical significance of it.

Retail brand: Taobao (kissnana) first-ish set for me

Hi girls I’m a newbie! Are these too thick? Too small?

I have been learning to use sticky tabs since years of gel application had damaged my nails and made them thin and brittle. For the time being, growing healthier thicker nails is the top priority, so I dare not use glue for now. Already saving a ton of money though haha!

CHANEL destroys around 10,000 to 20,000 pieces of outdated merchandise every six months to protect brand exclusivity.

I might be super naive as I didn’t realise destroying products regularly is a normal practice among brands. I vaguely recall news from a few years ago reporting how Burberry did this.

Do all brands do this? Then what’s the point of outlet stores? It’s incredibly wasteful. 20,000 items!

News:
Four former warehouse employees of CHANEL’s Hong Kong branch have been sentenced to four to seven years in prison for conspiring to steal more than 700 items scheduled for destruction, worth about HK$19 million.

CHANEL destroys around 10,000 to 20,000 pieces of outdated merchandise every six months to protect brand exclusivity. In early 2017, four warehouse workers conspired to steal 123 wallets and 601 handbags belonging to CHANEL Hong Kong Limited. They were intercepted by police while transporting the stolen goods away.

Two defendants pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal before trial, while the former warehouse manager and another warehouse worker were convicted following a trial in the High Court.
