I’m looking for an honest opinion about a dog incident in Germany (Rhineland-Palatinate).

My dog is a small Pomeranian (about 4 kg / 9 lbs), and he has never shown aggressive behavior before.

A few days ago, an 8-year-old neighbor girl was at my place. My dog was lying on the couch. In that situation, he bit or snapped at her under the armpit.

Important details:

* According to the medical report, these were superficial scratches and a small wound
* No heavy bleeding
* No deep puncture wounds, nothing needed stitches
* Treatment was just disinfection and ointment

It looks more like scratches/bruising rather than a deep bite.

The incident was reported to the police on Monday. Today is Saturday, and so far no authority has contacted me and my dog has not been taken.

Now I’m worried about:

* Whether the public order office or veterinary office will still contact me
* Whether they could show up unannounced
* Whether my dog could be taken away

My questions:

1. How likely is it that authorities will still follow up?
2. Do they usually contact you first or show up unannounced?
3. Is confiscation of the dog realistic in a case like this?
4. What kind of restrictions should I expect?

I take this situation seriously and would fully cooperate and take precautions.

Simba‘s erstes Weihnachten :)

… und ein extrem aufmerksamer und wacher Pomeranian Rüde. Aufmerksamkeit kann schnell zu Stress führen und darum sollte man seinen Hund an seine Umgebung und die Geräusche im Alltag gewöhnen. Bei offenem Fenster zuhause oder draußen: Immer ein Leckerlie geben, wenn er ruhig und entspannt bleibt sobald etwas um ihn herum passiert!

z.B: Bei Autos, anderen Hunden und ihre Herrchen, Kindern etc.

Diese Art der Konditionierung ist sehr wichtig und macht euren Hund entspannter. Dazu viel Schlaf und euer Pom meistert den lauten Alltag :)
