Where do people think Splatting technology will be in 5 -10 years?

Are feed forward models really the future? Are we going to get real time 4DGS training and streaming? Will we have more generative splats?

Seeing how fast this tech is moving is really cool, I’m curious what people think will be the big inflection points for it to get wider consumer adoption.

Let me hear your wildest snd unrealistic takes and hopes and dreams, and any you think are actually grounded in reality.

Currently I’ve been researching into some LiDAR tech, and seeing something like the Ouster Rev8 get released makes me wonder if depth estimation models are going to be used in the future if more LiDAR + RGB cameras get adopted into consumer hardware.

ANNOYING RINGING CONSTANTLY NEAR MARCY/VERNON/HART

Throughout the day, CONSTANTLY, there is intermittent ringing (some rodent deterrant or something?? idk). It is like psychological warfare. It has been going on for the past 2 months, and as of late it has gotten more unbearable.

Is anyone else hearing this? or are we just crazy? We have tried calling 311 to no avail.

Hey y'all! I built a lil website that turns phone videos or photos into interactive Gaussian splats, and wanted to share it here first since you all are the people most likely to have real opinions on it.

You can try it out without an account for your first splat!

How it works: Upload a video scan or a set of photos, and it runs GLOMAP pose estimation + gsplat training on cloud GPUs. Typically done in 10–20 minutes. You get a shareable viewer link and can download the .ply or .sog.

Why I built it: I was tinkering with Gaussian splatting back in December, hit the limits of my own GPU pretty fast, and couldn't find something that felt simple enough to send to my friends and family. So I built a simple pipeline with GLOMAP and gsplat and made it easy enough to actually iterate on, and easy enough that anyone can use it.

There's also an API if you want to integrate it into your own stuff.

I know there are other tools in this space curious what you think of the quality and whether the workflow makes sense. Still early, so any honest feedback appreciated! Thanks in advance, love everything going on in the space right now, just wanted to be apart of it :)

Also if you're a heavy tester with a lot of opinions DM me and I can hook you up with some more credits haha
