I’ve been on Wegovy for 12 months, and reached my goal weight about 2 months ago.

Despite being at a healthy BMI for the last couple of months, they’ve continued to prescribe my maintenance dose with no issues. I thought this was normal, as it is a ‘maintenance’ dose.

I re-ordered my 2.4mg wegovy pen a couple of days ago, I got a notification to say my order was held pending discussion with a doctor.

Please bear in mind that I have had absolutely zero negative side effects, and in my online consultation when re-ordering, I meet all the criteria to stay on my existing maintenance dose.

The notification said:

‘Dear *OP* ,Well done on your weight loss. Your BMI is now within the healthy range. Wegovy is licensed for maintenance of weight loss; you should gradually reduce your dose to the lowest effective tolerated maintenance dose combined with a healthy diet and exercise to maintain your weight loss. Please step down to 1.7mg as previously mentioned.  Kind Regards Dr xxxx xxxxxx’

I am not sure as to why it says ‘as previously mentioned’, as I’ve never had any sort of prior discussion with them before about reducing my dose.

I don’t see any logical reason to reduce my maintenance dose if it’s working for me and there’s no adverse side effects.

Is this normal?

I just wanted to know others experience.

Thank you 🙏

Edit: thought I would also edit to say, I seem to be quite tolerant when it comes to wegovy, I have absolutely no negative side effects, and found the much higher doses to be effective. 2.4mg was definitely way more effective for me vs 1.7mg, hence why I’m a bit hesitant to just accept that I should move down a dose for no reason.
