Hot water issue in Condo
Hello all. We are renting a condo in Toronto which we discovered to have a hot water issue once we moved in.
The hot water in the taps I measured to around 135 F / 57 C. The bigger nuisance is that the moment hot water is turned on slightly the water gets fully hot. It then remains hot for a while even when hot water is turned off. It takes a lot of micro adjustments to get somewhat close to warm water. So we've essentially been using only cold water when washing our hands/face, because otherwise it's too hot.
Landlord sent over a plumber who agreed the water was too hot but said it's a building issue since it is present across all taps in the house. The condo building said it seems to be a faulty mixing valve which they've ordered, but it's now been 2 months and they are saying parts are delayed due to tariffs. They also keep highlighting that we are the only unit complaining of this issue.
Is there anything we can do here? I contacted 311 and was assigned an area officer but they have not responded to us in over a month despite follow up emails. Do I go to LTB? Not sure what my options are.
have lived in another unit in this same building for 2 years and never had this problem.
Thanks.
