Got the ast on the 31st of may and have it in a 100 gallon brute stock tank filled half way with abt 50 to 55 gallons of water I do a 45 to 60 percent water change weekly the heat lamp is keeping the basking platform around 92.7 to 94.6 f and have a few floating plants and Anubias in the tank with some mopani wood along with a peace Lilly hanging from the side of the tank. I originally tried to do potted plants but the lil dude kept knocking the pots over or uprooting the plants out so I just spent like $100 something on the wood and anubias and some glue and it is what it is 😅. But my main reason over posting is because the lfs where I purchased the ast their what u would call hypocrites because the tank they had the turtle in was bare the basking platform was basically a tree cookie (about a 1/2 in slice of a log that was at best 4 in wide and no way really for the lil guy to get up on to) and had a mini double dome heat/uvb lamp. The lfs owners kept trying to tell me that if I didn’t buy a 22 in t5 ho uvb bulb and lamp along with a clip on Heat lamp and a 100 watt basking bulb that if it didn’t have those specific bulbs and lamps that I was going to kill the ast. Even though they didn’t have any of that for the turtle while it was in their care for months. But after a few months of research before purchasing the turtle and finally having all my ducks in a row I go to but the turtle and was forced to buy all the lights and lamps (which I already had at home but they forced me into spending $126 on the lights and lamps b4 they would even sell me the turtle which honestly pmo because over the year since they opened I’ve spent more that $1300 on various items fish plants reptiles inverts ect but yet that’s house they are deciding to treat regulars is getting to me because over half of their enclosures for the animals they bring in aren’t even fit for half their stock but yet they have the audacity to tell me that I’m going to kill the turtle when half of their fish wall are dead and they try to blame it on the breeders but in fact it’s poor husbandry. Apologies for the little rant still sore abt it. But I’ve had this turtle for over 2 weeks now and it come out swims around eats and even hand feeds none of which it did at the lfs btw. The ast took abt a week to get used to their new environment and is going great along with basking mainly when I’m out of the room but I’ve walked in on them doing it and sat down and didn’t even freak out just chilled on the platform and passed out for a bit. But I have a double dome lamp 75watt splash proof heat bulb and a 26 watt 5.0 coiled uvb bulb .
