Dysphagia and Arfid

Hi I'm 5'6 and 86 ibs. Ive been suffering from symptoms of acid reflux for 6 yrs but dysphagia for 8 months. I ate but not enough because of textures and not safe foods. Now I've only been able to have liquids. I just got released from the hospital because they said they couldn't do anything for me except outpatient stuff.

I've been have 160 calories a day but slowly going up. I'm drinking an Ensure plus today which is 350 Cal. I'm just nervous about refeeding syndrome, the hospital never really told me about it, just that I'm at risk. Is doubling my calories okay?

I've been feeling very weak and can barely move. I've been trying to drink some multivitamins and electrolytes. I'm hoping it's enough. My GI appointment is the end of next month.

GJ Tube?

Hello, I've been having symptoms of what seemed like acid reflux and allergies for 6 years. For 8 months now, I've had nothing but liquids. It recently got worse where I can't even drink 1 ensure or water, my saliva is also difficult to go down.

I've done many tests, a lot came back normal, some saw regurgitation and liquids getting stuck (Tried many medicines didn't work). I had a Dobhoff tube for almost a day, it was absolutely horrible.

Since no one really knows what's going on, would I still be able to get a GJ tube?

I've heard that sometimes you have to wear an NJ tube for longer for them to consider something different. I hated that tube so much, but I am severely underweight and need calories and nutrients.

Can't figure it out

Hi I've been having symptoms of what seems like LPR for 6 years. Since 8 months ago I havent been able to eat solids. I've been surviving on Ensure+ but it started getting harder to tolerate that too. So I had to be an in-patient in the hospital.

I've had an EndoFlip, Endoscopy, Ph test, SIBO breath test, H. Pylori, bloodwork [all of these came back normal], 3 barium swallows (1 modified). I had a manometry and they said I had possible EGJOO, and the barium swallows showed that liquids do get stuck and I have regurgitation.

I've been put on many medications but nothing helps. No doctor knows how to help or what it is. I can barely drink now, and I tried a feeding tube and it was horrible, I am now severely underweight. I'm not sure what else I can do?

Dobhoff Tube

Hi I just got a Dobhoff tube in because my dysphagia has gotten worse. It sucked getting it in. But now, 2 hours after, I've been getting acid reflux, gas, bloating, and mucus.

Has anyone else felt this? If so, what helped you? I'm getting really nervous

Esophagogastric junction outflow obstruction (EGJOO)

Hello, I had a manometry done recently. And was diagnosed with EGJOO after 6 years of dealing with acid reflux and nothing working.

I've had so many tests done, and it's a lot of waiting. I'm currently waiting to talk to my GI about the results. I've also made an appointment with a speech pathologist but it's a month away.

I'm not sure how much longer I can wait.

I have dysphagia and I've only been able to have liquids for 7 months. I've been surviving on 3 Ensure plus a day, tofu, and light soups. But I've been feeling worse lately and less hungry, which isn't good because I am already pretty underweight. I'm extremely fatigued, my hair is thinning, I have nothing but mucus in my throat, and constant regurgitation. On top of this I have a lot of stress from school, family, bills, and depression.

I don't see too many things about EGJOO, just botox or surgery for treatment. Has anyone had any experience with these? Or anyone dealing with constant waiting to get treatment?

Cooking For Acid Reflux/Dysphagia

Hi, I've been trying to figure something to make that's easy and sits well with my stomach. It has to be puree and liquid because I've been suffering from bad dysphagia since the beginning of this year.

Can't Have

- Onions, Garlic, spicy

- Lemon, citrus, apples, grapes (anything with a little bit of sour)

- Yogurt, cheese, milk only bothers sometimes, icecream

- Too much oil

- Potatoes/Mashed potatoes

- Almond butter and peanut butter

- Bananas

- A lot of protein powders

Extra Info: I've had LPR/Acid reflux for 6 years. Nothing has helped and no one knows the cause. I've only been eating butternut squash soup, turkey soup, carrot puree, tofu with broth, and Boost plus (I'm gonna have to stop drinking this because they changed the ingredients and it burns my stomach now). :(

If you have any recipes to share, please let me know! Thank you
