I fear my laptop may have been compromised. I stupidly never bought an SSD before the prices have literally quadrupled. I can't justify a purchase now.
All my photos are on my laptop. I want to reformat my laptop so I can use it again but I don't want to lose years worth of photos.
Is backing up to the cloud reformatting then re-downloading my only option other than buying an HDD or SSD??

I lost my phone with my authenticator app. I stupidly did not note down the recovery codes. I removed recovery phone number cause I was Sim swapped before.
Thankfully protonmail, which is my recovery email let me back in.
I didn't realize recovery email is essentially useless? First it's almost never offered as a recovery option. I managed to get it to show up and it said it will send me a link in 48 hrs.
I've been waiting all day and finally the time passes. I didn't get ant email. I got the initial one saying I will receive a link in 48 hrs.

I like photography but mostly just for myself. I like solo travelling and have done so every year except this one.. alas - I got into a bad accident a couple weeks ago and am mostly bed bound for the immediate future. I have a long road of recovery ahead of myself.
