My goal is to work independently in Cybersecurity, focusing on Bug Bounty hunting and freelance penetration testing. However, I want to keep my options open.

Realistically speaking, if I build a solid portfolio from bug bounties, independent freelancing, and practical skills, can that fully replace a university degree if I decide to transition into a corporate job later on? Has the global tech industry truly shifted to a "skills-first" approach where proven hands-on experience outweighs a formal diploma?
