Rewatching Girls was the perfect post partem show for me!

I randomly started rewatching the show Girls, and it was just perfect to throw on while I was trying to “sleep when the baby sleeps” or while bottle feeding because I had seen it already but not in many years so it was very entertaining!

It was a perfect reminder of how fun but also messy my pre baby years were if I ever had any inclination of missing them (I don’t), and the very last episode ends with Lena Dunham having problems breastfeeding and having to use formula of all things, then latching after releasing some stress.

Has anyone successfully eliminated 4:30 feed?

Im very happy with my baby girl’s sleeping!! But I guess im a maximizer and always looking to improve..

She’s 10 weeks and has mostly been sleeping from 8pm-4:30am. My insomnia keeps me up from 1-4ish so that 4:30 wake up is super hard for me.

Any ideas for pushing her sleep to 6am or shifting her motn feed to earlier?

I’ve tried dream feeds both before I go to bed around 9 and in the motn and she will not take the bottle. She’ll nurse but I think she only gets 1oz or so in each session.

TIA!

Frustrated with c section recovery

I had a chronic lower back pain before pregnancy, and it felt great the whole time I was pregnant.

As soon as my drugs wore off my lower back started being sore again. I’m currently 10 weeks post partum and my lower abdomen also feels very sore intermittently.

I’m sure this is normal I’m just feeling exhausted with it and venting.

I’m already seeing a pelvic floor and regular PT, a chiropractor, and getting massages- yay for having met my out of pocket max! I guess the only other thing I could try would be acupuncture- any experience with that?

I guess maybe I’ve been doing too much- daily walks and gentle yoga/post partum core videos on top of constant baby care for 12lb baby?

I’m just over it and ready to be able to get up out of bed without rolling.

Specific baby tasks that hurt my back are carrying car seat- I try to use stroller and avoid when possible. Getting baby in and out of car seat if I leave it in the car. Lifting baby in and out of crib. Carrying baby in general. Sitting all the time in weird positions for breast and bottle feeding.

Ergobaby fit check- why does this hurt my back?

To be fair my lower back always hurts, and this feels pretty good now- much better than when she was new new and we tried it. I usually wear her in a stretchy wrap and I’m almost positive my back feels BETTER in the stretchy wrap than without it, even with this 12lb weight!

Baby is 2 months, 12 lbs and 23 inches long.

Also- anyone know which ergo baby this is? It feels very bulky and there’s a lot of extra buttons and things I don’t know what they’re for. I want to continue wrapping but might also do little zen ones try before you buy program and try out some half buckles and or the happy baby og carrier.

How much less did your baby eat after 2 month vaccines!

Im admittedly over concerned that my baby is eating too much/not enough all the time!

She has gone up from 20th percentile BMI to 80th though so under feeding is definitely not the problem..

She just got her 2 month vaccines and has been sleeping ALL day. She’s only had 13 oz of formula when usually she’s had 16 to 19 by this time.

How much less did your baby drink when they got vaccinated?

Feeling frustrated with how long feedings take

I guess compared to exclusive breastfeeding, which isn’t an option for us.

I start each feed with breastfeeding which takes 8-20 mins; then top off with usually a 4oz bottle which it takes her usually 45 mins to finish.

She doesn’t spit up that much so maybe she needs a faster nipple? I’m worried she will start spitting up Too much. Currently using level 1. I have also considered stopping breastfeeding but not sure I’m ready. She is gaining weight perfectly and eats around 20-23oz of formula per day so I’m not sure how much breast milk she’s getting or if it’s worth continuing.

Should I try a different type of ring sling?

Id really like a ring sling to work out for me for quick ups and downs, but haven’t been able to perfect the adjustments in the wild bird yet! It seems like a lot of others have issues with this particular r sling.

Should I try a different kind? If so, which ones are recommended? Will look for it used. I’ve seen some Sakura bloom ones but they’re still like $70 used and I would much prefer less if possible.

My principal wants me to change grade levels while I’m on maternity leave

I don’t want to. I never want to. I don’t want to go in unpaid and pack up and move all my shit, and I don’t want someone else to pack and move me and have all my shit lost and unorganized.

I teach third grade and her reasoning was that she doesn’t want a long term sub in a testing grade so she wants to move me to 2nd grade.

I haaaate this logic. Your best teachers in elementary school should be K-2 and maybe 5th because they’re jerks. If kids don’t have great k-2 teachers, it doesn’t matter who their 3rd grade teacher is they’re going to bomb that test! Also I work at a school with excellent test scores and great family support so they’ll be fine.

I reached out to my union rep but I’m sure there’s nothing I can do. I do think it’s in our contract now that we get like $300 to pack and move classrooms but I wonder how that works if it’s the middle of my leave?

I don’t want to return to work with a new baby and have to sort through all my shit while learning a new curriculum.

End rant thank you for reading!

Are baby’s legs and feet ok!?

I might get kicked out of this group for posting too much! Everyone is so nice and I have no other baby wearing friends though..

A nice stranger today said she was worried about the baby’s legs being spread apart like this and that she thought her feet look too red like they’re lacking oxygen or something. She had adult children and said she never baby wore!

Anxiety about growing out of stretchy wrap!

I love having my baby in a stretchy wrap! We wrap almost every day for a few hours. She takes naps and hangs out while I do chores or go on walks. She calms down during the witching hour.

I have tried very hard to ring sling and tried out a couple ergo baby carriers and she doesn’t seem happy and they hurt my fragile back!

Should I keep trying different carriers? Wait till she’s older? She’s currently 9 weeks 11 lbs. or be doomed when she grows out of the wrap!?

Do I have unreasonable expectations?

I would really like to have house cleaning help, but I’ve tried a few different people/companies and I’m always disappointed.

It seems like hourly cleaning is not really a thing in my area as I’m always quoted for the whole house- around $300 for 2 bed 2.25 bath. There’s usually one person here for 3-4 hours, but I always feel like that is more than I make hourly and they’re not cleaning as thoroughly as I would.

Things I’ve noticed not cleaned: under the couch, under shampoo bottles in the shower, under the coffee maker. I guess as I type this I’m noticing a theme.. is it just normal for cleaners to do a super surface level clean and that’s what I should expect? I feel like if that’s the case I can wipe off the counters and vacuum myself just fine, but when I’m paying someone I want a more thorough clean like what I would do on the weekends.

Does this seem extra picky? Do I need to ask a different way? I do live in a higher cost of living area- does this price seem normal?

Thank you so much for any advice or ideas!

Edit: thank you so much for all the feedback!! It sounds like my price is standard but I should clarify with the company what their scope is and kindly let them know if I’m not satisfied with something.

Im thinking I will ask them to focus on a more thorough clean of the bathrooms, kitchen, and living room as well.

Wild Bird Ring Sling

This is much softer and easy to use after washing a few times and learning to do the finger walk thing!

Is my fit looking ok? I’m not the biggest fan of how this digs into my armpit opposite of ring, and I feel some mid back/lower shoulder pain on that side as well so I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong.

Also just slightly worried my baby is uncomfortable and or is going to slide out the bottom.. I really want baby wearing to work for me though!!

I took my 7 week old’s temp because she felt super warm, it was 100.4 but then I took it a few more times and got something different each time.

I called and of course the nurse line told me to go to ER.

She did not have a fever upon arrival but of course they’re doing tests- she had a catheter urine sample, blood test, nose swab, and has been awake for hours inconsolable.

Now we’re just waiting for results and I’m sure they will all be fine (hopefully) and this will all be for nothing, but I feel terrible for putting her through this.

I’ve posted before but so worried I’m doing something wrong! I feel like we’re good here but I’m worried her back is too straight! When I wear her in my moby wrap it’s curved.

TIA!

Edit to add: pics in comments!!
