Let's create two good custom scripts from the carousel

I got my copy of the game two weeks ago and have been exploring how I would run stuff when I get the chance to storytell.

One thing very quickly became very obvious: playing the three base scripts is easy as all the tokens involved are in separate boxes. Get the right box, create a bag, play, put stuff back in the box, done and done.

For custom scripts this is much more difficult as you need to collect characters from several of the token boxes and then after playing, put them back in the right place. Both take about half an hour. So basically this means you can't play a custom script and something else back-to-back.

So what if... we create some custom scripts that can sit in their own box just like the base scripts?

There's 30 town folk in the carousel, which is a little more than you need for two separate scripts, but definitely not enough for three scripts without overlapping characters.

So if you want to join me in this endeavor, let's discuss which of the carousel demons would go together well on the same script.

(If anyone has existing scripts that fit here, please mention those!)

I'm thinking leviathan, al-hadikhia, lleech and lord of typhon would be a good fit. Lev and al-had are loud demons, so you know they're in play early on. Lleech and LoT each require a special strategy, and I think they go well together because if not the loud ones, it's one of these or the other, so you're not completely flying blind but you have a puzzle to solve.

As for a second script with the other demons, yaggababble, legion and lil' monsta have in common that the ST determines who is killed at night. To some degree this also applies to the ojo. The lil' monsta and kazali have in common that they react a lot with the minions.

The riot is an example of a character that you probably don't want on a general purpose script, as it would dominate a script too much, but which can be a visitor on such a script, much like the atheist or heretic, IMO.

So for the second script demons, ojo, yag, legion, lil' monsta, possibly kazali?

Let me know what you think and once the demons make sense, let's look at the minions, then the outsiders and finally the townsfolk.

Please note that these are not intended to be the forever perfect scripts. I think Trouble Brewing is that. But you don't eat your favorite dish every night. My goal is a couple of scripts that are good enough to be fairly replayable if you want to have a workable experience in person.

And then a small number of characters that can be added to the base 3 + new 2 scripts to add some spice.

Do you as the ST really need both parts of the box?

I got my copy of the game less than two weeks ago and no opportunities to storytell in the immediate future just yet. But I've been trying out different ways to track the game, and I'm thinking having both parts of the box attached together is really unnecessary. Any reason why this shouldn't work:

So the top part of the box (which is slightly larger) with in this case the Trouble Brewing box on the right and night printouts order clipped to the left. This leaves enough room for a circle of up to 16 tokens, or the full 20 as a square pushed to the edges in the shape of a square.

Here the demon bluffs are in the 3rd - 5th parts of the box, but another way to do it would be to the side where the box is now, or even under the box (you really don't need to look at those a lot).

Unused reminder tokens for in-play characters go in the corners or the middle, or stay in the box if no other choice.

Interested to learn about STs seeing value in having both sides of the box with them as they walk around. That seems unwieldy to me. The single part of the box in this orientation is super easy to support with your arm.

Carousel has storm catcher?

I got the idea that I was missing a fabled token. Unfortunately the content of the box and how to handle it are not documented anywhere, but I managed to find the relevant information in hidden corners of the internet.

Turns out that I have all twelve fabled from the base game as well as the two mentioned in the Carousel and Loric Almanac.

But... I have one more! The storm catcher. The token has the same coloring as the other fabled tokens, but the storm catcher is not a fabled, but a loric.

What gives?
