Debilitating nerve pain

I got shingles 2 weeks ago (day 1 of my 2 week trip to Ireland ☹️). Got in the meds on the first day. The rash developed on my abdomen on my left side. It's starting to fade now, but the nerve pain is severe. The pain really started probably 9-10 days ago, feels like a severe sunburn but it's from my armpit down to the knee. My entire left side and it hurts in that entire area. Every single thing I do hurts, even just sitting. It really made my trip miserable. I'm 37 and have 2 little kids, 5 and 2, who are very high energy. The pain has not gotten any better and it's really making me miserable. I feel bad bc I'm really a miserable person to be around right now, but idk what to do when I'm in this much pain constantly. It's also physically and mentally draining. I was extremely stressed while in Ireland because of this and bc my kids were just a lot of work, so I don't know if that has made the symptoms worse, but I really wish I could do something about this. I can't imagine going much longer with this pain. Looking for any advice!

Built a mobile quoting app for junk removal operators — looking for feedback

I built QuoteMate after spending time with someone in the junk removal industry and realizing there was no good tool for pricing jobs on the spot.

The app walks you through load size, labor, disposal fees, and surcharges and gives you a recommended price with a full cost and margin breakdown in under 60 seconds. Operators can text or email the quote to the customer right from the app.

Free tier available, no app store download needed — it's a PWA so it installs straight to your home screen.

Would love feedback from other builders, and especially if anyone here happens to know someone in junk removal or home services, I'd love an intro.

Any junk removal business owners here? Looking for feedback on a pricing app I built

I've been building a mobile quoting tool designed specifically for junk removal operators and I'm looking for a few people willing to kick the tires and tell me if it's actually useful.

The idea is you need a price in 30 seconds. The app walks you through load size, labor, disposal fees, and surcharges and gives you a recommended price with a full margin breakdown. You can email the quote to the customer right from the app, or copy the quote and send it via text or some other method.

There is a free version that gets you 5 quotes a month. Also a free 14 day trial of the Pro version. You don't even need to download an app, it's actually a webpage, and you can install the page on your mobile device so it functions just like an app. Just looking for honest feedback from people actually in the industry.

If that's you, I'd love to hear what you think: goquotemate.com

Paranoid my kid is being iced out

My son is 4 and in preschool and such a lover, but can sometimes be a lot (he was recently diagnosed with adhd), and I can see other kids sometimes getting annoyed with him. He gets invited to birthday parties for kids in the class when everyone is invited, but he's never been invited to a playdate. I know some of the other kids have playdates. The girl moms specifically set up playdates with the girls, and the moms have become cliquey because they have gotten close because the girls play together. We recently started tball. Somehow all the other kids in my sons class who play ended up on the same team (out of 12 teams) and my son is the only one not on that team. I learned that you can request to be on a team with other kids, and I feel like that has to be what happened. It makes me feel like there is a group chat we were not invited to. Am I being paranoid, or does it sound like my kid just isn't invited to these things? It makes me sad for him because he loves his friends and really cares about them. I have not been proactive about setting up playdates, but no one has with us either. This is his last year with this group because he's going to transition kindergarten while the rest move on to kindergarten at all different schools. So it doesn't really matter, but it makes me question if and why he's been left out and also just sad for him.

My husband's job and workload has become unsustainable for him and he's struggling mentally and wants to quit every single day. He's been doing what he does for basically 14 years, has always hated it. Switched companies a few years ago, but this company has actually been worse. He got into his industry (mortgage operations) after college, it was never right for him, but he hasn't been able to get himself into anything else. What's worse is he has zero motivation to move up, so he just gets the measly raises each year (like 1-2%), so it really is a dead end job. He works so hard and it's just such a shame that it's really all for nothing

Because of his rigid hours, I am stuck doing everything for the kids, and around the house, so I'm also burning out. I love my job, I'm kind of thriving in it right now, and would love to be able to put more into it, but because his job requires him to be at his desk from 830-530, then work overtime which he usually does, I can really only work between 9 and 5 because I need to drop off and pick up the kids. There is no end in sight with his current job. I've been applying to new things for him but he hasn't gotten any calls. He doesn't have time to do anything besides his current job, plus he feels so burnt out by the end of the day he doesn't even want to think about job hunting.

Financially, we kind of need his income. We could probably go a few months without by finding things to cut back on, but beyond that we would be in trouble. We bought our house with our 2 incomes coming in. Between the house and everything else we couldn't afford it on my salary alone.

If he quit he could focus on figuring out what he really wants to do and pursue it. But it would be risky. I'd be nervous he'd be stuck without something for longer than we could handle. And this job market sucks. Looking for any advice! Has anyone else been in this situation?

My husband wants to quit his full time corporate job and start a business. We have been researching junk removal as a viable option. He hates sitting at a desk all day, doesn't mind physical labor so he's willing to put the work in. Ideally after a couple years he would be running the business and have crews to do the actual hauling and removal. I am in marketing and am very business minded so I would help him run things, especially the marketing side. I would also keep my full time job for stability and benefits.

We live in NJ and you need a special license that takes 6-9 months to get, so this wouldn't happen overnight, and he would keep his job until he could legally operate. He worries though that he won't make enough money to make leaving his job worth it. He currently makes about $120k a year. But it's kind of a dead end job, he has no desire to climb the ladder, so he's never going to become rich from this job, and he hates it, and it's not good for our family. We know it will take time to build up a reputation and relationships for steady work and income, but there is still a little risk aversion.

I'm looking for advice, perspective, from anyone who has started or runs a junk removal business. Is this a good business to get into or should we quit while we're ahead and find something else?
