I'm moving to NYC this August from Chicago. Right now I'm working as a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools, and my plan is to continue substitute teaching once I get to New York through NYC Public Schools.
I completed the General Substitute Teacher Interest Survey.
I'm trying to figure out the hiring/onboarding process as someone coming from out of state. Are there parts of the application process that I can complete before I move, or are there documents, fingerprinting appointments, trainings, or other requirements that have to be done in person after arriving in New York?
If anyone has gone through the process recently, especially as an out-of-state applicant, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice on timing. Thanks!
