Chances of my dad recovering
Last night My dad (64M, 5’7, 170lbs, non smoker, no medications, second night at the hospital) got beaten to a pulp by his brother. Every bone in his face has basically been shattered and he has a large pool of blood in the center of his brain and the doctors say it’s too severe to surgically drain it. He’s currently on a ventilator and is showing no signs of improvement so far, all that’s changed was a drop in his glucose levels. I would like to add that he does have a pacemaker, high blood pressure issues and type 2 diabetes. My question is.. is there a chance of him recovering or living? I’ve spoken to the nurses and they say that the body can possibly reabsorb the blood ( very low chance) or it can drain down to his spine which will cause him to become completely brain dead. I just want to know if any doctors have dealt with a case like this and if there’s any chance of hope? I know even if he does wake up, he’ll have some/ severe brain damage , but is him waking up even a possibility?
