“i’m going to be a doctor…(NP)” convo

hi all. i read about it here but it actually happened lol. a distant friend of mine and I caught up recently- they told me they just started school to become a doctor, i ask what kind, they say NP.. alright.

come to find out, they have not worked a single year as an RN. got their RN years ago, worked in a few different healthcare sectors, applied to this (online) program and boom.

same person always posts about “doctor”-title related things. it is just so cringey. i don’t know if it’s bc they don’t interact with actual healthcare professionals so they can fool other ppl but sheesh.

What are some things you notice about new grad PT(A)s as a seasoned PT/A?

I work with a seasoned PTA in a SNF and he said that he’s burnt out overall but also especially because newgrads are very bright eyed n bushy tailed/too optimistic. thoughts? even on anything other than this

Before grace period ends- pay off lump sum of interest, or pay off whole (grad plus) loans?

Hi all,
i just graduated from PT school and i have $100kin loans from grad school. all federal. i have approx $15-20k in gradPLUS (8-9% interest). my grace period ends october 2026. currently doing travel PT and saving up.

while completing exit loan counseling, i read something about paying off the interest ($12k ish overall) - not sure if this is more beneficial than paying down the grad plus loans themselves. just looking for some guidance and advice so i can do this the smart way! thank you :)

feeling like a paper pusher at a SNF, is this normal?

hi all, just started a travel PT gig at an SNF. there’s a ton of ppw i’m doing already from the previous PT whose spot i took, in addition to a bunch of EMR specific documentation for recerts, progress notes, d/c’s. i’ve been getting like 5 hrs of tx and the rest documentation—is this normal? i understand if it is but just wanted to see if other ppl have this experience too / just wanted some support.

thank you!! :3

edit: i kinda expected to be thrown to the wolves so it’s whatever but again just wanted to see if anyone can relate(:

Best way to save money with rewards programs? specific hotel/airline brands, cards etc.

Not sure if this matters, but I’m starting out my career and will be finally making some money. I’m very frugal and understand there’s “hacks” to saving money and being smart with it while traveling.

what are some good tips/tricks for traveling regarding airlines, hotels, etc..

as a side note, has anyone utilized costco’s rewards/travel deals?

any advice helps, very new to this. thanks in advance!

What advice would you give to a 24 y/o who is just starting their career?

I just got my physical therapy degree. I’ve always been interested in new ways to make money- passive or not. Just wondering what advice you would give for someone just starting out?

can be anything at all. i’ve heard about maxing out 401k and HYSA, but just curious what other type of advice you’d give someone else (or your younger self) to make more money. I just don’t want to be so reliant on one source of income.

also, will be focusing on paying off my loans for a year or so, so this advice can surpass the near future.

thanks in advance!

Took NPTE in TX but want to get licensed in CA--what should I do? (pls help)

Unfortunately I thought that in order to get my license, I have to get it through the state I took it in (TX) as I was able to take it there in April unlike in CA (which has to wait until July). So I started the TX application and paid the fee ( :( ) which was super dumb I know.

My question is: Am I able to apply for a CA license now after passing NPTE in TX without getting licensed in Tx first? I won't be working in TX.

My perception was that my NPTE pass wouldn't matter given that CA applicants cant take it til July, but I now see (or think) that doesn't matter.

Also I'm wondering if recruiters often reimburse for licensing (in the contract state)? from my understanding it depends on the agency, but wondering how common this is. Any tips for finding agencies would be nice too - I'm using Vivian to find them but I don't know if there's something else to do/something better.

any guidance helps. I need help so bad I feel like im in the dark :(((( Pls don't judge
