Want to change my name a small question
I am a transgender woman living in Cork City and I want to change my name along with my gender.
With my memory of my research into the topic I can do a gender recognition certificate (GRC from this point) to change my gender along with my name. The process (as I understand it) is printing out the GRC and getting a solicitor to sign it along with my information then paying to get it filed in the government archives and I would have a new legal name and gender in the same document. I would then be issued a new birth cert with the correct info.
So as I understand the GRC allows me to change my name a gender the question I have is, can i change my last name too while still being connected to my parents legally? It is worth noting that I want to use the Irish translation and have their blessing to do so, think O'Sullivan to Ó Súilleabháin (not my actual name) so the question is, can i use the GRC to change my legal gender, first and last name while still being connected to my parents? Thanks a ton
