AMS700CX pump very difficult to inflate

I will caveat this by saying I'm only on day 7 post op but on day 2, we see the nurse for drain removal and deflation. Due to the excruciating pain of drain removal there was only a small attempt at deflation, now 7 days in I'm comfortable enough to have a go at deflating some more which I have done this has caused some pain so I've tried to partially inflate to 'take up some slack' the 1st half a dozen attempts and the pump wouldn't work. Solid no action , I read the instructions and it says to deflate then hard and sharp inflate and there should be a click. I heard that click and the pump did function to my relief but tried a 2nd pump and the pump again did nothing, pressing really hard and it doesn't operate. Feel like there's something not right here. In my own mind this shouldn't be so tough to operate. Truth be told I was expecting operating force of not much more than crushing a big unripe grape between my fingers. It's currently significantly more than that

New to me, 34k miles UK spec barn find

Very clean & rare GT UK spec, so hard top too. Been locked away for 13 years in perfect environmental conditions. 1 previous owner.

Completely standard other than a backyard seat lowering kit which I fired last week .

Going to be kept this way.

Sill on original hood to give you an idea of condition.

Soon to be tucked up before the consequences of El-Nino hit us here in tbe UK.

Only 41 of the 7000 that came to the UK in this colour.( no idea on how many survive) AP2 revisions with AP1 engine, so best of both worlds. Pic is before any paint correction which booked in in a few weeks time.
