EWTN: Pope Leo explains why Vatican II’s reform did not change only ‘the rites’ of the liturgy
ewtnnews.comThe great scourge of our country, whose every Victory we must denounce
Fr. Albert Jacquemin, formerly of the SSPX: "The SSPX Is Explicitly Developing an Ecclesiology of Substitution Foreign to Catholic Tradition"
From the article:
Within the Church, while a "state of necessity" does exist, it can never be invoked against the explicit will of the Pope. Canon law recognizes this principle, particularly when it comes to ensuring the salvation of the faithful in extraordinary circumstances: wars, persecutions, danger of death, a lasting impossibility of access to the sacraments, or a temporary impossibility of reaching ecclesiastical authority. But a state of necessity requires specific conditions. The danger invoked must threaten an essential good of the Church: it must be grave, objective, actual or imminent. Above all, no other legitimate solution must be available. Finally, the means employed must remain proportionate to the danger and compatible with the hierarchical constitution of the Church. The state of necessity is therefore not a right of exception permitting the unilateral suspension of obedience to the Church.
Furthermore, a state of necessity cannot be proclaimed by a particular group that intends to invoke it for its own benefit. In the Catholic Church, the ultimate assessment of such a situation always belongs to the competent authority — and especially to the Holy See — when the act in question touches upon the ecclesial structure.
More:
We arrive here at the heart of the matter: the SSPX is explicitly developing an ecclesiology of substitution that is foreign to Catholic Tradition. It considers itself to have received the mission — without specifying from what authority — of supplying for the alleged failures of the Church itself. Recognition of the Pope is now merely theoretical, since real authority is in practice transferred to the Society's parallel "jurisdiction," which decides for itself where authentic Tradition resides and when obedience to the Holy See may be suspended.
Schism, let us recall, does not consist in denying the authority of the Roman Pontiff, but concretely in obstinately refusing to submit to it. In practice, this results — despite all protestations of fidelity to the Successor of Peter — in the constitution of an autonomous ecclesial structure and life outside of hierarchical communion. That is why the 1988 consecrations were described as a schismatic act. The ordination of bishops against the explicit will of the Pope gravely damages the visible unity of the Church in a domain that directly touches its divine constitution.
For this reason, new episcopal consecrations without pontifical mandate on July 1, 2026 would not constitute a simple repetition of those of 1988, but a considerable aggravation. In 1988, Archbishop Lefebvre claimed to be performing an exceptional act linked to a transitional situation. Nearly forty years later, the repetition of the same gesture would manifest the permanent settlement of the Society into a logic of separation. After decades of persistent refusal of canonical regularization and progressive autonomization, new consecrations would display the will to perpetuate an episcopal succession independent of Roman authority.
If celebrated, these consecrations would no longer be merely an isolated schismatic act, but — precisely by virtue of their repetition — the culmination of a schism consummated in fact, even if the term continues to be rejected by those who are provoking it.
The Pillar: If the SSPX consecrations happen, who exactly is excommunicated?
An excellent synthesis. Worth the (rather brisk!) read.
Rorate Caeli has lost the plot
In their latest editorial (see: https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2026/05/a-rorate-cli-editorial-traditionis.html), Rorate Caeli claims that Traditionis Custodes is the state of emergency and even uses it try and justify the schismatic positioning of the SSPX.
Then there's this nugget of gold:
>>Traditionalists fully understand the need for respect for authority; but we cannot have both at the same time: a stated will to destroy the Traditional Roman Liturgy forever (Traditionis custodes) and a complete prohibition of means to salvage that. If the Holy and Apostolic See really wants to show the world its peaceful and loving purpose, it cannot just punish: it has to make clear that Traditional Catholics are once again welcomed and loved in the Church, by way of a new welcoming in the style of Summorum Pontificum.
Let's not be dishonest. TC doesn't try to destroy the Vetus Ordo.
And you cannot talk about respecting authority while demanding that authority bend to your preferences.

Deodorant should be required in public
Nothing quite ruins the morning or any time of the day like getting a whiff of people who smell like onions or *ss. I don't understand why doing something about BO isn't something that we require. Stinking on the MRT, on buses, in the gym or anywhere in public is disruptive to living in harmony! If we have Stand Up Stacey, we should also have Don't Stink Donald.
It's time to make the DDS pay
The Dutertes, their allies, and their supporters—the DDS—are a blight on Philippine society. This post is about the DDS.
Let's not forget that before the rebrand to "Diehard Duterte Supporters" DDS meant "Davao Death Squad". And most people who call themselves DDS support that kind of injustice. They support and enable the worst politicians in Philippine history, a cabal of murderous, violent, corrupt, incompetent, traitors who would sell us out to China for a payout, as if their plunder of the economy isn't enough. Most of these people probably know better, or think that they do. But rather than admit they're wrong, they'd rather attack people who try to show them the facts. They'd rather spread disinformation and garbage from SMNI and PGMN and other sources of stupidity that affirm their biases and wrong beliefs. They probably know better. They don't want to. Why? To stick it to the so-called "elites" or anyone from "Manila" or "Luzon". And if recent events show us anything, they'll willingly keep doing it again and again.
F that. It's time to make them pay unless they mend their ways. Let's exclude them from polite society. Decline to invite them to social gatherings and events. Kick them out of group chats. Block them on social media. Even refuse to serve them in restaurants and establishments, and if they make a stink, just ask them to leave and call security on them. Boycott their businesses and services. Report their posts and pages. Refuse to hire them for jobs or promote them, especially for anything manegerial or senior, because they're clearly dishonest and cannot be trusted, and will probably be an embarrassment for your company. Don't make them lead anything anywhere. And if you really want to take it further, don't make your kids play with their kids.
If they cry "discrimination", say "you bet". Won't this divide society? Maybe. But let's be honest: Do we really want to be friends with people whose morals are so obviously bad?
No violence. Just impose a real social cost for the DDS, unless they change. The Dutertes and the DDS cost thousands their lives during the Duterte's war on the poor. They cost us our and our children's future when they stole billions. They cost us our sovereignty when they cozied up to China. They cost us our sanity when they enabled criminals and liars like Harry Roque, Franco Mabanta, Sass Sasot, and Mocha Uson. They cost us our moral standing by enabling Quiboloy the sex trafficker and the fake church and cult called Iglesia Ni Cristo. They cost us our national pride with their embarrassing antics that made the Philippines the laughingstock of the world. When it is no longer ok to be DDS socially, we can hope that it becomes politically radioactive and taboo as well.
Enough coddling and pandering to the least common denominator and to the worst of us. Make the DDS pay.
CHED wants to cut down GE requirements in college, a horrible proposal that will not be good for our students and citizenry. The GE requirements are intended to provide our students with a well rounded and liberal education.
Ateneo has published its comments, pushing back against the proposal. See here: https://www.ateneo.edu/statement/2026/05/ched-reframed-ge-position-letter
