Anyone here doing law school and a Master's at the same time?

Is anyone here taking (or has taken) law school and a master's degree at the same time?

I'm planning to enroll at San Beda and I'm considering taking a master's degree (or possibly a second degree) at the same time. How manageable is the workload? Would you recommend doing both at the same time, or should I focus on law school first and pursue the master's later?

i might take my master’s after my adjustment period

New lawyer recommendations

Hello I am a newly minted lawyer. Planning to solo practice in my own municipality. Wala kong makuhang mentor at gusto ko talagang makatulong sa mga tao dito samin. I'm taking a leap of faith and mag litigation without having experience as an associate. May naka try na ba neto? Ok ba sya? Or baka may ma recommend kayong book for litigation. Thank you 🥹

Sa mga kukuha ng bar, curious lang ako how does your daily schedule look like? May target kayo ng number of pages na babasahin per day?

Just want to learn from you guys 🙏🥲

Does staying at the same university as your undergrad matter for law school?

For context, I'm a fourth-year undergrad student at UP Diliman. I plan on taking a gap year, so I haven't applied to any law schools yet.

I'm posting this to ask for thoughts on the question in the title. I often hear that it's beneficial for students to take their master's at a different institution to expose themselves to a new environment and pedagogy, but I'm wondering if it's the same for law school. I know law school professors typically teach at multiple institutions anyway.

I guess I'm just feeling uncertain since I might be limiting myself to a certain worldview or culture if I pursue UP again. Of course, it's still uncertain whether I'd even get in, but I also plan on taking up a master's program soon (and UP is looking like the top choice for this as well since it's the top planning school 🥲).

Arrc suggested answer. Saw this online, my first guess is the original document rule. Thoughts?

cars for a lawyer

Hi, Attys. Maiba naman, since our profession needs us to travel most of the time, what model and brand of the car did you buy? I'm still researching about this as well, just curious how you decided on a model and if the fact of having a car met your expectations (given the gas prices, parking, traffic).

Yun lang, happy monday!

Why are law students very immature in handling conflicts?

Hello! I’m from SBU (1L), and I recently stumbled upon the cheating issue posted here. Are people really so quick to judge a person to the point where, instead of filing a formal investigation for the cheating issue, they just resort to posting libelous comments and dragging people down in this platform? If that is the second time a student has done that, why not report it to the proper forum so that the student can be punished for his/her actions?

We always clamor for due process during the drug war, but we do not follow it in cases such as this? Oh please. Stop being hypocrites. We all have Constitutional Law 2 in our syllabus right? I just wished that the core principles in the Bill of Rights is also being followed in our daily lives, especially in our respective institution.

I agree that we should NEVER tolerate cheating, BUT let’s ALSO NOT tolerate nor normalize libelous comments being posted here. Let the accused defend himself/herself in the proper forum. Let him/her afford due process of law.

Sabi nga ni Atty. Chris Carlson sa Bar Boys (1:14:38): “Even criminals have the right to a defense.”

What are your thoughts?

I just saw this on Threadz. Does this mean yung mga 2023 Bar Exam passers ay sinuwerte lang kesyo di sila kagaya ng ibang exam year. Coming from a struggling poor law student girlie, kung pumasa ka, pumasa ka. Discretion naman yung SC. Why are there abogados na naggegatekeep ng kapwa nila? Burges yern?

Tax compliance as CPA or practice law as an Attorney?

If the goal is to earn as much as possible by professional practice, should I find my niche as tax compliance specialist as a CPA or focus on practicing as a lawyer?

Advises are very much welcome.

Having a relationship with a law student

Reading some of the content here made me realize how much of a pain in the ass I was to my ex. I was always pointing out parts of the relationship that could be improved—his lack of communication and what I perceived as a lack of passion for the relationship—making it seem like the relationship revolved only around my needs. I lacked empathy.

I had to end the relationship because it felt like we were moving through different phases in life. As someone anxious, I needed assurance that our relationship was heading somewhere stable. During that time, I noticed that he wasn’t fully “in” the relationship. He had walls built from trauma. From that, I came to the irrational conclusion that his trauma would eventually lead to me getting hurt.

Even though he explained himself to me, I still felt like we were speaking different languages, and that ultimately led me to decide to end the relationship.

I should have taken more time to learn about and immerse myself in the kind of life he was living. It was rigorous for him. He might have been at one of his lowest points, and I left him anyway. The fact that he still chose to invest in the relationship despite how busy he was was already a sign of his willingness to try, and I failed to see that.

I’m sorry.

To those in relationships with law students: exercise as much patience and understanding as you can.
