Temporary shelter for white birdie

So found this fellow today close to my home. Did not try to fly away and was obviously looking for food. Obviously not a wild animal. The local animal service will pick them up tomorrow, until then all I could offer was a box (bigger than on the photo) with a fabric on top, sunflower seeds, nuts and cereals and water.
If any pigeon experts can offer suggestions how to make it more comfortable for that bird I am all open ears. Myself has no experience with birds, don't even dare to really pick it up again to check closely for a ring (feet itself are very feathered) because I'd be afraid to hurt the bird.
