Tattoo Artists who Specialize in Cover-ups??

As the title says, I’m looking for tattoo artists who specialize in cover-ups.

When I was an angsty and impulsive 21 year old, I got an especially angsty and impulsive line work tattoo from someone whose specialty was American traditional. It is messy and I was sick of it within a few months but have been living with it for 8 years. I’ve reached out to a few artists who told me they weren’t comfortable covering it, as it was not in their skill set (I loved each of the artists’ work but appreciate their honesty). They have all suggested I find someone whose expertise is cover ups but I cannot figure out how!

I want to cover it with PNW native plants and maybe birds?? My current piece has no shading or color but I’d be open to shading and color for the cover-up. Current piece is about 6”x 8” so I’d probably need something slightly larger than that.

Idk if this last bit of info is helpful or necessary but PLEASE! I’m getting married in a year and have engagement photos in September. I can cover it for the upcoming photos if needed but I don’t want this on my body on my wedding day.

Last thing I’ll say is please be nice… while I refuse to say that I “regret” the decision to get this angsty art on me, I can say that I quickly outgrew it and would be better off without it at this point. I still enjoy tattoos but I now feel like mine should honor what I hold dear.

Singer Quantum XL-100 for beginner?

Hi! I have only sewn a tiny bit about 15 years ago so basically I know nothing about sewing besides what I’ve been reading on Reddit over the past few days.

I’d like to start making clothes and am looking at secondhand machines to start off with. I know that the HD Singers are NOT recommended but does anyone know about the Singer Quantum XL-100? I found one that will cost very little and just needs a pedal.

What are the pros and cons?? Thanks in advance!

Alternatives I found:

Janome Mod-19 for $140

Janome Sewist 725S for $200

Bernette 82e for $160

I know that 1 credit is supposed to equal a 3 hour commitment per week but I see some 1 credit lectures that are 2.8 hours long.

How do these courses actually work? Are there no assignments and grading is based on participation? Or are you committing more than 3 hours weekly?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience!
