Theory for Servant of the Lake (MAJOR SPOILERS, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE GAME)

I just finished the game. And holy smokes, Rusty Lake, you have done it again.

As I played the game, I was left with many questions. Now that it has finally been revealed that James Vanderboom is, in fact, NOT the son of Aldous, since the brothers have a third sibling, which the community had long theorised, we have a better picture of the entire extended family.

But if James is related to the Vanderbooms through his mother, why doesn't he have his father's surname? Throughout my playthrough, that question has always been at the back of my mind. Who is this man, and where is he in the canon?

Then, I completed the regular playthrough of the game, and I started following the series of clues Kate left for me to read. This led to the notes from her brother, in his own signature. And all of these clues, in tandem, created an entire subplot of the canon involving Kate's brother and Alexandra. Specifically her, in particular.

And then, I found this note:

"I had a dream last night. Bronze stairs spiral down into a cave. A silver snake slithers on the ground. I see my future son draped in gold, a mark upon his brow."

- Signed in Kate's brother's signature.

No way.

You may recall that in Dressing up for Dinner, we wrap James in a golden cloth and pour sacred water on his head. And a symbol appears on his forehead. James is Alexandra's son. Alexandra did not write that note. Whoever wrote that note must have been James' father.

James' father = Kate's brother.

It would also explain why James took his mother's surname. Alexandra made his father disappear.

Alexandra, you are a sick, wicked woman.

An alternative way to add Terror to StS2

I have tried this before, but I think this one is probably more balanced than the previous suggestion I made.
