Is this really a bad idea? Adding drop bar to a hybrid bike.

wrong title, it should be "adding drop bar attachment" like these

So I got a bike for free on Facebook market. It is a schwinn trailway hybrid. It was missing tires, a seat, front brakes, fork headset, and one of the shifters was not working properly. It's fine, I can fix the majority of the problems myself. I just needed help with the shifters and brakes because I wanted to try something with the handles. I wanted to attach drop bars to the handle, add road brakes and inline brakes, and wrap it up with handlebar tape. Why? Because I think it would look cool unique and I want more hand positions. I was going to get new brakes and shifters anyway, so might as well try something Ive always wanted to try...

Well anyway, I brought the bike to 2 different bike shops to get their opinion and they both thought my idea was weird and too much trouble for what I wanted. "Just buy a road bike" they said. Yes I know I would have to install a converter for the v brakes to accept the short brake mechanism of road brakes... But theoretically it should work right? Is this really a stupid idea and not worth the trouble?

Keep front suspension or replace with rigid fork.

TLDR: Is it worth changing front suspension to a rigid fork? Converting an old mountain bike / hybrid bike into a daily commuting bike.

Just want to say I stopped owning a bike for over 10 years and want to get back into cycling. I am overweight, so comfort is more important to me for now.

I wanted to build a bike up to my liking and the purpose is for basic commuting, going around the neighborhood, biking at the park/simple trails with my kids, doing quick errands that I don't need to use a car for.

I found a free bike from FB marketplace (schwinn trailway) that needed new tires and a seat. I was going to get new tires, seat, pedals, and a more relaxed handlebar anyway. I figured this would be the perfect frame to start with.

The front suspension was rusty, obviously, it was a free bike. But I can always clean it up and lube it up. But then I thought, do I really need suspensions if I'm not going to use this bike for mountain bike trails? Wouldn't a rigid fork make more sense if I'm just commuting on the road or park? Does it even make a big enough difference for a rider who's overweight and isn't trying to be speedy gonzalez? Should I keep the front suspensions or change it out for a rigid fork?

Just wanted to share my 30 gallon tank that's been running for almost 3 months. I was battling hair algae for a while. I manually removed as much as possible. spot treated with Excel. added amano shrimps. added more plants and floaters. reduced light intensity and hours. adjusted CO2. Now I have almost no hair algae and I'm really happy with how this tank is doing. The plants are growing well. My cherry shrimps have shrimplets!
