Waking up with anxiety?

Hello, tomorrow will be 3 weeks since my elbow ORIF with tension band wiring. I’m in my brace now, so unless I’m doing my PT exercises the pain isn’t too bad. I can even can get somewhat comfortable at bedtime too (especially compared to before the brace) but for some reason I’m still not sleeping. I’ve been getting anywhere from only 2-4 hours a night and when I do wake up I’m extremely anxious and usually can’t call back asleep (like right now).. I’m not usually one to have anxiety ESPECIALLY not to wake up with it.

I’m so out of it right now from days of not sleeping much yet & still waking up feeling panicky and unable to go back to sleep. I’m not sure if my senses are getting overstimulated a lot easier all things considered or what.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had post op anxiety??

Olecranon ORIF physical therapy question?

Hello, broke my olecranon on 7/19 - surgery with one screw and two k wires on 7/27. Just got my hinged brace today 8/7.

I start PT a week from today on the 4th and it sounds like the first 3 weeks of physical therapy he wants my therapist moving my arm for me and once my brace comes off the first week of September I can start “active motion” and moving it myself in PT and in general. Does that sound right?

I won’t pretend to know anything about this but it just weeks off. I’m worried an extra 4 weeks of being immobile outside of my PT appointments is going to affect my recovery and short and long term ROM. Can anyone provide some input on this?

How long after olecranon ORIF were you in a hinged brace?

I have a post op appointment this Friday which will be 11 days post op from ORIF on my olecranon with the screws and k wires (I believe it’s considered tension band wiring) and am hoping I can get out of the splint and into the hinged brace because I’m miserable, the splint is making the side of my hand hurt so bad. My post op was supposed to be Tuesday but I was able to get them to move it up by 3 days. I’m just worried the 3 days ahead of schedule will cause my surgeon to keep me in a splint.

1 week post op from olecranon repair? Elbow sudden aches bad when rests against splint?

Like I said in the title.. 1 week post op from olecranon repair (screw and k wires). Elbow sudden aches bad when rests against splint? Not unbearable or like am I need to call my surgeon pain. I just am worried maybe I overdid it today resting it on my lap outside my sling (not outside of the split) or flexing my fingers too much. Yesterday was fairly pain free. I’m hoping it’s just some healing pain settling in.

Did anyone else experience random spikes in soreness and aching?

ORIF surgery yesterday current pain management regimen is not effective. How do I convey this to my surgeon?

I broke my olecranon last Sunday and had TBW surgery yesterday nerve black wore off last night, and today I woke up an absolute agony.

I was given 5 mg Percocet every eight hours. I generally have a pain tolerance so the fact that I am hurting this badly tells me that I’m not being dramatic. The Percocet is helping for about four hours and then somewhere between five or six hours. It begins to become unbearable and then the last two or three hours waiting to take my next dose is just pure hell.

I know there’s such a stigma around opioids and I don’t wanna seem like a complainer or like I’m looking for more medication, but I’m genuinely in severe pain in this medication regimen is just not working. My surgeon called me today to see how I was doing postop, but I was asleep finally and missed the call. He did say he was gonna call me back in the morning. How can I convey this to him? I don’t wanna seem dramatic or annoying. If he doesn’t call, do I just call his office and tell the front desk, lady I’m having more pain than expected in between doses?

Can you nurse on pain medication post surgery?

I broke my elbow Sunday and will be having surgery to screw it back into place pretty much on Monday. I got the call today that they will be prescribing me Percocet for my postop pain medication. I’m getting conflicting answers online. I’m reading some information that they prescribe it post C-section and that it’s safe since I will only be taking it a few days, especially if I Try to nurse before taking it rather than after. But then I read other things that say not to take any sort of narcotic while nursing I’m just trying to figure out what I will be doing postop because my baby will not take a bottle. Is it safe for me to take it the first couple days postop to manage my pain and then switch to Tylenol or should I just suffer and do only Tylenol? For context baby is almost 6 months old.

How to get 5 1/2 month old that’s EBF to take a bottle?

My son will be 6 months old on the 7th and has been EBF since birth. I cannot for the life of me get him to take a bottle. I’ve tried different bottles, breast milk, formula, etc nothing makes a difference. My problem is that I’m having surgery Monday and don’t know what I’m going to do, I’ve been trying to get him to take a bottle to prepare him but he refuses and screams louder than I’ve ever heard no matter how long I try (hoping he’ll just get hungry enough to take it but he won’t) I know it works better if someone else’s tries but my husband has very little patience and idk what to do. Now we’re both stressed and freaking out

How long after breaking olecranon til surgery?

Sunday afternoon I slipped in the shower on one of my kids toys and broke/displaced my olecranon, the report says mildly displaced so I'm hoping it just looked worse than what it is (my elbow looked very deformed) I've had it in a splint and sling since and can't see a specialist til Thursday to get new X-rays and go from there. I'm so uncomfortable and just want to get on the road to healing already. I'm hoping it's not weeks of this til surgery - which the on call Orthopedic doctor at the er said was basically a guarantee that I'll need it. How long do patients typically go between breaking the bone and surgery? Thank you from an uncomfortable and anxious hypochondriac.

Skin still purging at 2 1/2 months?

Started tret 0.05% at the end of February. I’ve was getting minor breakouts before hand but very quickly my skin started purging. I never had much redness so I’ve been using every night pretty much since the beginning. When one breakout goes away another pops up and it feels never ending. I just ordered some Maree Azelaic acid to use for my AM routine because I read that can help but is this normal? I used curology before that was azelaic acid and tret with great results but getting plain tret through the Amazon pharmacy is more affordable for me. Any advice?

How long do you clean a tragus with saline?

I had my tragus pierced yesterday and it was shocking painless - probably a 0 on a 10 scale for me. I was told to use a q tip with saline spray morning and night and to not touch it. However she wasn’t clear on how long to use the saline during the healing process. Is it the first 8-12 weeks or do you use the saline for the full 6-9 months of the healing process? Thanks!
