Is this too big? 1966 Citizen Jet Auto Dater

Just added my latest and biggest watch to my collection. I’m usually a 34-38mm kind of guy, but I had the chance to buy this NOS Auto Dater and I couldn’t pass it up.

40mm

49.5mm lug to lug

1966 Citizen Auto Dater

Wanted to show off the newest (and therefore favorite) addition to my collection. Spent about a month hunting this down after becoming obsessed with everything about this watch; I love the look, the history, and the Jet movement.

I was super fortunate to find this watch after connecting with TokeiMedic. I messaged him after seeing his work restoring old Seiko and Citizen watches, and he showed me this one that he had not yet overhauled and listed on his website. He was fortunate enough to stumble upon 4 or 5 unused NOS Auto Daters from a closed down watch shop, and this was the last of that batch! When it arrived to me, it still had the blue sticker on the caseback and the original price tag. Amazing stuff. Everything is original: the crystal, the bezel, and the jubilee style bracelet. Also, was super fortunate to get an example that has both weekend and weekdays in Kanji!

Hope you all appreciate my Japanese Day-Date haha

Update + showcase of my Oris Big Crown Pointer Date

Around 2 months ago - I had posted about my 32mm

BCPD, wondering whether the case size was too small. While that post got hundreds of positive, reassuring comments that the size was perfect; as I collected more watches over the past couple months, the 32mm was feeling smaller and smaller haha.

So anyway, here to showcase my new 36mm 7463B BCPD that I got from a German auction!

Included a pic of the 32mm at the end, followed by one more pic of the 36mm for on wrist size reference.
