any tips on how to get good with gambit?

so i want to have gambit as my second main since loki is my first, and i also want to get him lord. i used gambit in qp and got 10k heals when i know thats not enough and i couldve gotten more.

while i was playing with gambit i noticed his ult really boosted my heals, but is there any other way or tactics to get insane heals without ult?

i feel like he could be a good dps, would you perfer him or cyclops? maybe his ult could be like hulks and he can turn bigger and deal tons of damage.
