Seeking Board Game Night Recommendations for a Friend

A friend of mine lives in the Broomfield area and is interested in finding board game nights to meet more people and play different games. I found this old thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverGamers/s/CdL7CoJTKz. Are these good recommendations still? It’s about 3 years old. My friend is a retirement age adult; it’s not a requirement that there be lots of similarly-aged players, but it’s a bonus.

My friend doesn’t use Reddit and I’m just trying to make a good list of potential options to pass along. Thanks in advance.

Firsts and Notable Things from Our 2-3 Loss vs Türkiye

I’m a bit late with this one, but still wanted to throw it up before the Wednesday match with B&H.

* The two goals bring our total to 8 so far, making it our most ever at a World Cup (1930 and 2002 had 7 each).
* Sebastian Berhalter scored and recorded an assist, making him the first USMNT player ever with an assist and a goal in the same World Cup game.
* Balogun, Reyna, Freeman, Trusty, and Berhalter make 5 unique goal scorers for the US, the most ever (1930 and 2002 had 4 each).
* Trusty’s goal makes the first World Cup where 2 different US defenders have scored.
* Trusty’s goal was also the USMNT’s 2nd fastest goal in a World Cup game ever, taking just 134 seconds (Clint scored just 30 seconds into the 2014 game against Ghana; not sure that will ever be broken.)
* Last record for Trusty’s goal: it was the 173rd goal at the 2026 World Cup, making it the highest scoring World Cup ever (Qatar had 172).
* This is the first time the US coach has had to lecture the media about why is he won’t apologize for taking first in the group stage.
* Pulisic’s 2nd half time showed he’s healthy and rest to work magic against B&H.
* Bonus: Yesterday, Jesse Marsch became the 2nd ever American to coach a national team to a World Cup knockout victory, and the first to ever do so for a foreign country (even if they’re just the upstairs neighbors).

Just a note: in case you haven’t heard or seen this somehow, [Bosnia’s World Cup song](https://youtu.be/FmX0DJ6kOqc?is=JkIy8lHcercFQV1v) is awesome. I’m pretty sure that if we beat them Wednesday we gain the joy and power of the song for our remaining run in the tournament.

Records / Notable Things from Our 2nd Match

These all are for the USMNT at the World Cup, unless stated otherwise:

* Poch tied Arena and Robert Millar for all time wins coached at the World Cup (2).
* USMNT becomes the first team to induce own goals in consecutive games in the history of the World Cup.
* First time since 1930 that we win two straight World Cup matches.
* First time since the 1930 World Cup that we reach 6 points in the group stage.
* The USMNT becomes the second host ever to score in the first 15 minutes of its two opening matches.
* With 6 goals in the first two games, the 2026 USMNT has more goals than the US has scored in 9/11 previous World Cup entries. With 2 more goals, this will be the most goals we’ve ever scored at a World Cup (the 1930 and 2002 World Cup teams each scored 7 goals).
* This is the first time the USMNT has clinched first place in their group with one game remaining in group play.
* This is the first time the USMNT has ever known they would advance to the knockout stages with a game remaining in group play.
* This game and every game this tournament where he appears (I missed this one in my first list) Tim Ream becomes the oldest US player to play in a World Cup match. (The previous record was held by Fernando Clavijo.)
* The USMNT set a new record for the amount of rent free space taken in an opponent’s head, with our latest victory against Australia expanding us to 20,000 square feet, all rent free.

Just like the rest of you, I’m loving this tournament and enjoying seeing the team improve, even if some of these records are a little bit anticlimactic.

USMNT Records and Notable Things About Our 4-1 Victory Against Paraguay

These are all obviously for the USMNT if not specified:

• Most goals ever in a World Cup game (4).
• The USMNT’s 4 goals in our opening match are more goals than we scored in the entire tournament last time we hosted (3).
• 4 goals is more than we average in a World Cup tournament (3.66) and more than we scored in 6/11 previous cups: 1934:1, 1990:2, 1994:3, 1998:1, 2006:2, and 2022:3.
• Tied for the biggest margin of victory (3 goals) in World Cup history.
• The 7th minute goal is the third fastest goal for a host nation in their opening game in World Cup history.
• 83/83 completed passes for Chris Richards, the highest number of passes with 100% accuracy for any World Cup player since 1966.
• Balo became the first player to score more than one goal (2) in a World Cup game since 1930.
• Balo scored his first World Cup goals.
• Gio Reyna scored his first World Cup goal.
• It was the most watched World Cup game via broadcast in both English (15.9 million) and Spanish (8.9 million) as well as streamed (1.1 million).

Now for my subjective list:
• This appears to be the fastest team the USMNT has ever fielded. We punished Paraguay for moving forward again and again. I’ve seen us punish other teams with speed from one or two guys before, but we’ve got speed from so many places now it’s the fastest USMNT I’ve seen.
• This was the least stressful World Cup match I’ve seen the USMNT play. It’s usually exciting, but the outcome of the game is much more in question. This was just a party as we controlled the game from early on.
• This was the prettiest victory in a World Cup game. We just outclassed Paraguay and got two of the prettier goals in USMNT World Cup history from Balo and Reyna.

Any other notable things to call out? If we sustain this level of play it’s going to be a very fun tournament.
