La Conexión, plus getting a bag today....
I went to La Conexión today before the game with a friend. I was already planning on buying a City connect jersey so I figured I mine as well go. It was pretty cool area in general, you get to see where they did the reveal video with the shrine and everything, but I wouldn't say it's worth the $35 entrance fee if you don't plan or didn't originally plan on buying any city connect merch. That part went well, but at the time I hadn't thought ahead to get a bag while I was there (more on that later...)
I also purchased the Star-Wars theme game add-on. We had to go all the way to section 329 from Gallagher square to get the bobbleheads which is whatever I guess, but they didn't have any bags to carry them. I figured I'd go ask a team store rep for one of the *plastic disposable bags* that they have behind the counter. Little did I think that'd be such a big ask...
The first team store pop-up we go to near section 329, the lady says "sorry you have to buy something first". I'm like okay... I just spent $340 on a jersey and bobbleheads but whatever. So we go down to closer near our seats and to the team store adjacent to member services. They say the same exact thing, and "sorry but it's policy". I explained politely how I just had purchased a jersey (showed them my receipt as well) and hadn't thought to get a bag from La Conexión for the bobbleheads we hadn't gotten yet.
Next thing we know this lady is calling her supervisor for a *disposable plastic bag* mind you. The supervisor was just as helpful. This guy calls La Conexión to confirm they had bags available to give us when we were down there. After telling him we spend thousands of dollars a year on the Padres as season ticket holders he finally gives us a bag. You should've seen the look this guy gave us as if we had just robbed them.
As much as I've enjoyed being a season ticket holder and supporting the Padres I've had to deal with shit like this way too many for the past five years. Whoever is responsible for making their "policies" needs to lighten up... It's actually ridiculous.
Edit: I wasn't in desperate need of a bag either it just would've been nice to keep them protected without the extra hassle. Someone actually spilt a drink right next to us and the boxes would've gotten wet had it not been in a bag.
