It’s fun to be part of a Senate Security matched set

Nobody knows who the hell we are, but we look official and the blue is gorgeous! It’s been making 3-person troops way more fun. Now if we could just get that armor CRL up…

ID-15745 (shorter) in WampaWear, and ID-73340 (me, taller) in my own work. PilotBay hats on both. I also made both our Andor-style rank bars.

I caught Axis and got a promotion!

This is my very first con photo op picture! It’s far from my best photo, but it’s the result of amazing luck and friendship. “Luthen” there and I became very-long-distance friends when he responded to a post of my costume. He told me about the incredible lineup of Andor actors coming to a con in his city, and so I made a trip of it. We had the best time taking photos and meeting other fans, it felt like we’d been friends forever.

I made a bunch of small props just for the con, including this 4-tile rank bar l'll almost certainly never use again. Anton Lesser seemed to have fun giving me a fatherly lecture on the responsibilities of higher rank while I tried desperately not to grin.

I ended up having loads of time hanging with the cast the next afternoon, especially Michael Jenn (who turns out to be the anti-Lagret, just so interesting and earnest) and Jacob James Beswick. JJB kept saying my costume was so accurate it was freaking him out, and I’ll be riding that high forever since I spent so much time patterning it out and dyeing it to the right color.

Anyway, I thought you all might be entertained by this. A friend told me it looks like Dedra is ruining the ISB casual BBQ (a thing that absolutely exists, sure) with her Axis obsession, and I’m here for that.

Bonus: A Star Wars trading card that a fan group made using my first costume photo that was posted here. The internet can be a cool place.

Where to attach canvas to a blazer that doesn’t have lapels?

I’m making a double-breasted suit jacket that needs chest structure but doesn’t have lapels, and I’m unsure of how to properly attach my canvas once I’ve assembled the layers. Every resource I find seems to be focused on pad stitching to the lapels. Where should I be securing this so it behaves well?

Thanks so much!

Where to attach canvas when making a blazer that doesn’t have lapels?

I’m making a double-breasted suit jacket that doesn’t have lapels, and I’m unsure of how to properly canvas it. When I last made one, I attached my assembled canvas at the seam allowance of the shoulder seam on the “underlay” side, and otherwise let it float. This has been a real pain, because although it looks nice, it slips when it’s sent to the dry cleaner. And despite the domette, I’m now getting stabbed by little hair canvas bits. But without a lapel to stitch onto, I’m stumped as to where else to attach it. More seams’ allowances? Sneaky little hand stitches somewhere else? I can’t find any resources anywhere for this type of construction, so I’m hoping desperately for advice here!
