What ROM hacks turned frustrating or plain bad games into something actually worth playing?

Hello

I want to make a video about rom hacks that saved bad games from being really hard, frustrating of almost unplayable.

I know of those:

1.Bubsy: "Less Bad Edition" SNES
2.Super pitfall 30th anniversary NES
3.Ghostbusters 2 NES
4.Bad to to the future NES
5.TMNT Nes (a few, most recent is "Back to New York)
- not a bad game, but very frustrating at times
6.Mega Man X6 PSX -
7.I played it back in the day. I know one of the major complains is the multiple
bosses in each level. Not sure if it fixes this one.
8.E.T. - Atari VCS -
Makes the collision detection for falling into holes more forgiving and adds a few more game modes

Most of those are pretty old, so I must be missing some.

*Castlevania 2 and 3 are bit too large for my scope, I played much of the GB and modern ones :-(
also, I don't to focus on NES2SNES, I think it deserves its own video.

Info on "Mr bloopy saves the world"

Hello. I am looking for more info about this game:

https://snescentral.com/article.php?id=0813

I know that piko's release had around 9 levels vs 4 in the last known prototype. It makes sense because according to compedia (who developed most of the game) it was around 90% finished.

Also, according to Compedia, rare "sabotaged" the game because they didn't want to growa a potential rival for Nintendo attention.

But I actually don't know what really happened there. I tried to reach out people who worked on the game from Rare to hear their side of the story.

Here is a video where ones of Compedia's founders talks about it. It's in Hebrew, but I think you can turn auto translate.

Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: Well, I guess it's more of a personal taste apart from games that had serious bugs.

I’m trying to make a list of games where the CD-ROM version is considered inferior, or at least controversial, for a video I’m working on.

Here are a few I’ve found so far:

Loom – Probably the most infamous one, due to missing text and some removed content that was "too violent".

Gabriel Knight – Haven’t played it myself (shame on me), but I’ve heard the southern accent by Tim Curry is considered a bit exaggerated.

Monkey Island (CD, not the Special Edition) – Music loops differently because of the CD audio format, and personally it feels a bit “mechanical” since it was mostly just recorded with better synth hardware. Also, some people prefer the original text-based interface with the verb list.

Gobliiins 3 – A lot of the music is missing, and the English voice acting is very different from the original “goblin language”.

The Lost Vikings 2 – There isn’t really a floppy version, but I prefer the SNES version since it keeps the original 2D style more intact. Although I do like the added voice acting.

Any more examples?
