Traveling the Faroe Islands without a car in September
Hi everyone!
I’m going to the Faroe Islands for 5 days in September (9–13 September) and I’ll be traveling without a car.
Ive noticed that by September some of the seasonal bus routes, especially route 350, no longer operate, which makes getting to some places quite complicated.
The main places I’d like to visit are:
- Gásadalur
- Bøur
- Sørvágsvatn / Trælanípa
- Bøsdalafossur
- Tórshavn
I’m totally fine with walking long distances and hiking, and I’d like to rely mainly on public transport + walking. I’m also open to hitchhiking if that’s realistic and safe there.
For anyone who has experience traveling around the Faroes without a car in September:
What would be the best way to get to these places now that some seasonal bus routes no longer run?
Especially interested in how to get from Sørvágur to Bøur/Gásadalur after route 350 stops operating.
Any advice on bus routes, connections, hiking routes, or realistic alternatives would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
